A beam of electrons is fired with a kinetic energy of 50MeV, at a 100nm thick crystalline nickel foil. Calculate the de Broigle wavelengths of the electrons and explain why the majority of the electrons pass through the foil. Hint: It may be useful to know that hc/2pi = 197MeV. (I got the de Broigle wavelength as 2.46x10^-14m, using relativistic dynamics, and my idea is that most of the electrons will miss the electrons in the foil due to the short wavelength. However I have no idea how the hint can be implemented into my answer.)

Ocassionally an electron will elastically scatter from an atomic electron in the foil. Is momentum conserved in this interaction? Explain why the products of the reaction are not emitted at 90 degrees. (For this one I'm completely stumped.)

I understand that they are both designed to measure electron retrograde gyroscopism in tachyon disaugmentation, but I've heard a lot of discussion about their performance characteristics under electroweak cardinal crystal fields.
Someone on that other website said that the Davisson-Germer spec provides better measurements when used in conjuction with a muon-decay ellipsometer, but is totally useless in experiments with laser-quantum-state-freezing.
Going off that anecdotal evidence, it seems like Cowan-Reines spec ECMs are the way to go, but is there something I should be worried about before picking one up?

I just bought this and I’m currently in Chapter 2. Defusion and anchoring/mindfulness are fine for dealing with the negative messages and feelings that arise, but there’s a definite pattern to my negative messages; through mindfulness, I’m able to identify these patterns and trace them back to their source, namely the negative messages I received from parents, teachers and other occasionally abusive or insensitive people I’ve encountered.
I’m thinking that learning and practicing greater self-compassion would go hand-in-hand with the other work I’m doing in ACT.
For those not “in the know” already, the double-slit experiment was performed by Thomas Young in 1801 to demonstrate the wave behavior of light, and in 1927 by Davisson and Germer using electrons, which was later extended to atoms and molecules.
The basic structure of the experiment is to point an emitter (a coherent light laser, or an electron emitter, etc.) at a screen that has two narrow, parallel slits (from which the experiment gains its name). Beyond that screen there is a detecting plate which can register where the emissions arrive. Many quanta of the emissions are produced and their combined positions on the detector compiled.
If the emitter produces a wave then it can be expected that it will pass through both slits, interfering with itself on the other side to produce a characteristic interference pattern on the detector. If the emitter produces a particle it can be expected that the particle will pass through one slit or the other to produce a projection of the two slits on the detector.
Now the weird part about this experiment is that both photons and electrons (along with other matter) will produce an interference pattern when directed at the two slits. This happens even if they are emitted only one by one, meaning that an individual electron could pass through both slits simultaneously and interfere with itself, despite only arriving on the detector at one discrete location!
However, if a detector is placed on one slit to detect if a photon passes through it or not, the pattern produced on the detector suddenly changes to the two-slit projection as expected if the things being emitted were acting like particles. All of this seems very mysterious, as surely just observing which slit it passes through doesn’t change what the emitter is producing! It would seem to imply some sort of spooky action at a distance, or (as it is now understood) that the photons/electrons/etc. actually have “wave-particle duality”, which is to say that they are simultaneously sort of both.
Where some people get it WRONG is they hear the phrasing that the slit is being “observed” and assume it means that a conscious mind is necessarily involved. They will say that the observation by a consciousness is influencing matter from a distance and this is proof of the supernatural, in turn presumably justifying whatever woo they favor. The “Best of Sasquatch Chronicles” first episode sure seemed like Wes was just out-and-out trolling his listeners.
He picked the most bonkers and controversial interviews. Seemed to be done on purpose.
He made sure to include the guy who claimed to have gone to the woman’s home, wherein Bigfoots were hanging, watching Sponge Bob, talking via their own language between themselves and with the woman, and.....sigh.....one was very attractive, and caught the fancy of the interviewee.
It’s hard to believe Wes wasn’t taking a shot at all the dissenting voices out there.
Oh well: Still a funny, interesting listen on a long commute.

I guess these members are only paying $7 a month, so I guess it's not that bad on the wallet (though I heard that he's tried to stop people from canceling once they learned of his hoax and is still charging their credit cards). But anyways, I've recently stopped in to the website and checked out various clips from his episodes just to see what this lying weasel is up to now, and now he's not only claimed that he shot a sasquatch over last Xmas (but conveniently left; he and his other hoaxer brother and their other brother apparently didn't think it would be important to actually recover the body, despite everything that Wes constantly says about the importance of getting a body), but that he's also convinced that sasquatches are raping horses (seriously, no joke) and that sasquatch must now be somehow related to demons and interdimensional phenomena.
Seriously, haven't these "members" figured out that Wes Germer is a fucking lying shithead who made up a fake encounter in order to sucker these idiots? All he does is just go deeper and deeper into absurdity, knowing that his fans are just craving this bullshit and will basically believe anything he says and any crackpot theory.
His whole first encounter has been completely discredited--not only with the fact that there was no moonlight, but also the fact that he completely lied about what he told the investigators, and has changed his story--ON AIR--multiple times. First it was that his relative died "that week" and later it was "a few weeks" before. If you go back through his podcasts at the beginning, the proof is right there.
What a fucking lying jackass hoaxer. Will people please stop taking this loser seriously and just let him be forgotten?
