A list of puns related to "David Lean"
Everybody talks about Lawrence of Arabia and rightfully so, itβs an extraordinary film after all. The acting, directing, score and cinematography are iconic. He made many great films though and I hardly see them mentioned. Brief Encounter, Blithe Spirit, and The Bridge on the River Kwai are some of my favorites of his. What are some of your favorite Lean films and why? Even if your favorite is Lawrence of Arabia, please feel free to express why you love it so much. Thanks!

The poor thing is shook. It gets better and funnier every time I rewatch. Especially given the way Jake becomes a recurring character in their story.
Hi there, just here asking if their are any movies by David Lean(besides Bridge on the River Kwai) that are available in 4K, trying to watch a few with my dad as a birthday marathon. Especially Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, though any of his movies would do. I do see that Lawrence of Arabia is in 4K but only in a $250 boxset, which I don't want to drop the coin on for essentially one movie. If you could let me know, that'd be great, thank you.
Not sure if this is the sort of thing to post in this sub, but I thought this might be a fun thought experiment.
I was wondering how you all might envision a live action version of "The Lord of the Rings" if it had been produced in the late 60s in the style of David Lean masterworks like "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Dr. Zhivago."
For casting, I think Christopher Lee would have made a wonderful Aragorn. I can also picture Sean Connery (RIP) as Boromir, and Jeremy Brett as Legolas. For the role of Gandalf, Laurence Olivier would have been fantastic, brining the proper amount of energy and dramatic gravitas just like Ian McKellen so deftly achieved. I've seen other people try to do fan casts like this, but I often find them to be filled with too many Hollywood stars instead of dramatic actors.
I also think it would be interesting to consider locations for the films. Obviously, the Professor got lots of inspiration from places like Lauterbrunnen in Europe. New Zealand looked fantastic in the films we got, but I'd be curious to see a film shot in the places Professor Tolkien himself imagined.
If you have any ideas or thoughts to contribute to this line of thinking, I'd love to hear them! I'm sure you all of unique and interesting points of view!
Your choices:
The lack of pre-80's directors covered on Blank Check is reason enough to vote for Lean.
Obviously you have Lawrence of Arabia and The Bridge on the River Kwai, but Brief Encounter is one of the all time GREAT ROMANCE movies and it's criminally under-discussed.
Also consider that he made the two DEFINITIVE Dickens adaptations. There's a lot to talk about there.
>DAVID BENIOFF: We don't get bonus points for being strictly faithful to the books. It doesn't give us anything extra. For every decision there is a fork in the road and the fork to the left is adhering strictly to the books and to the right is what's better for the series, we're always going to take that path to the right.

Man, I am doing the Dork On Demand's work for him, I tell thee! Coming up with twisted negative takes - it's not glamorous work, and it's not honest work, and there's no pay.
