Hi all,
I'm currently trying to extend my home-manager config files to my MacBook with nix-darwin. However, I have some parts that are NixOS-specific (e.g. some Linux-only packages), and so I would like to gate them.
Is there a function in Nix returning the underlying OS, or some other mechanism I didn't think of?
The hype around Darwin Thompson in this sub is really building in the last few weeks, and honestly I understand it. He's a good player and he may get some work this season. This is not an anti-Thompson post. I think he's a good value at his draft price.
Unfortunately though, I think this Thompson hype, and some recent coach speak has been scaring people off of Damien Williams. I'd like to highlight some stats and point out some other evidence (besides coach speak) which may ease your minds a bit.
Last season Damien Williams started 5 games including the AFC championship against the Pats. On a per game basis over those 5 games, he averaged 13.8 rushes, 4.8 catches, 114.4 all purpose yards, and 1.6 touch downs. That's 5.12 yards per carry, and 8.8 yards per reception.
Think about that. Damien averaged 23.4 half point ppr points per game while only averaging 13.8 rushes. In my opinion that leaves plenty of room for the Chiefs to ease their rookie RB into a decent chunk of touches while maintaining Damien's top 5 production.
I know what you're thinking. "But Thompson was obviously drafted to be the future of this backfield". Well yeah, probably, but you have to remember, the Chiefs just signed Damien Williams to a 2 year 8.1 million dollar contract extension. They have absolutely no reason to rush their rookie into a workhorse role when their current lead back is getting over 5 yards per carry and has already been paid. Thompson will be there when they need him regardless. They have zero incentive to risk the future of their team by rushing him into a large role in the offense.
I know you're also thinking "but if Damien gets hurt, then Thompsom could become the starter and stay the starter". Yeah. I get it, but season ending injuries happen every year. It's a risk for every single running back, and I just don't believe that they're going to pay a guy 4 million a year to be a backup sitting on a bench once he's healthy again unless Thompson comes out and starts getting 6 or 7 yards per carry, which I don't think is too likely. Thompson is good but he's not Alvin Kamara.
My point is that even if Thompson carves out a sizeable role for himself in this offense (eventually), you can decrease Williams' opportunity by 40% and he's still getting you 14 points per game if and when that happens.
Best case scenario, Thompson gets a healthy 5 to 10 carries per week, Williams does exactly what he did last season and continues to get about a dozen hand offs, ca

MD-PVP, MPy, and any batch of current md-php is garbage. Md-php is probably my favorite pyro, but good batches are long gone. All three are 0/10, avoid at all costs. Tan sandy md-php fb was a 9/10. These white crystals are 0/10
I've bought 3f-a-pvp 3 times in the last year or two. This was the only active batch. A solid 6.5/10 but no reason to reorder
A-PCYP: I do not get the hype for this. It's okay but recommended in every thread. There's better out there, boys. I'd rank it a 5/10
A-pihp: apparently I bought the good batch and worse ones came after. The good batch is a solid 7/10.
A-php: a classic. Consistent 8/10 on every order.

Level 3 pc tried stealing from a magic shop. Managed to get away with what he thought was a Bag of Holding, plus a few lesser items he stashed in it. Didn't inform his fellow party members what he did or attempt to share. Later, alone, he tried to pull out the other items he stole to appraise them, got sucked into the Bag of Devouring (magic shop owner's anti-theft system) and no one was around to help him out before he dissolved.
What if at last Darwin gets the power to edit the whole world and all of the characters and he eventually ends up deleting the void for good.? No. 2: what if Darwin's yearbook is a set of memories which gumball recalls when he recovers from the ground and finds himself in the void with others at the beginning of the movie!? 😆omg if that happens then BEN U R A GENIUS... Not sure it would end up like that though

What Happened:
Nearly one year ago, I posted a photo of an injured but striking bird that I found on the sidewalk outside of my office. The post gained about 5k karma. I think with Hunt gone, and Clyde supposedly not making the team, and with Damien Williams being injury prone, how likely is it in your opinion that he has a jaw dropping season?
Would you say his ceiling is average-good production at best? Do you think Damien Williams flourishes leaving little room for Darwin to shine?
I’m curious to everyone’s predictions and if you take him as a late round steal given the opportunity, over other late round steals.
Do I think he’s the next Kareem Hunt, Saquon Barkley, or James Connor breakout star? Probably not even close. But I think his risk to reward potential is astoundingly high playing in the leagues most up tempo high scoring offense with a great QB at the helm.
