A list of puns related to "Dai Vernon"
On The Magician, a TV show in '73-'74, in the episode "The Illusion of the Curious Counterfeit part 1, there is a clip of Dai Vernon doing cup and balls.
The show is about a magician who helps people in trouble and stars Bill Bixby (The Incredible Hulk), who was an amateur magician in real life. He did all the magic tricks in the show. It ran for two half seasons. In the first he lived on a plane, but the real life oil crisis happened and they didn't think the public would appreciate the excessive use of fuel, so in the second half the character lived in The Magic Castle. Those familiar with The Magic Castle would be able to say if they used the real place in the show. I've only been there once. I'm not finished with the second season, there may be more real world magicians on it.
Iβm looking for either Essential Dai Vernon or the Inner secret trilogy and Ultimate secret of card magic. Please let me know if anyone has one!
I just read this in Vernon's wikipedia page:
"He also had a famous encounter with another up-and-coming young magician from his town, Cliff Green, who asked Vernon, "What kind of magic do you do?" Vernon responded by asking the boy to name a card. Upon pulling a pack of cards from his pocket, Vernon turned over the top card of the deck to reveal the named card and replied to the speechless Green, "That's the kind of magic I do. What kind of magic do you do?""
Does this trick have a name? Where can I learn it ? Or was it just luck?
Also explain why you chose the certain effect.
Anyone have any idea where i would find a copy of this book for a reasonable price?
There are plenty of collectors editions out there but they are incredibly expensive. I also am not keen on the massive volume book of all his magic books - its just too big to comfortably read!
Any tips would be appreciated in finding this.
Hello everyone, I am trying to work through cutting the aces in Dai Vernons Stars of magic.
It's a great trick and I'd love to perform it, however after practicing maybe 20 times I find I can never find the last ace. The first 3 go flawlessly but the last one never works, not even close.
I am not trying to expose this trick so if anyone reading this who already knows the trick could PM me and possibly help I would be much appreciated. I've read the pages a hundred times but I still cant get it.
Thanks!
im looking for a better quality copy of the one on the right in the link.. hope someone here can help. http://imgur.com/a/jsByb
hey guys,
i recently searched for a one handed shuffle and stumbled upon this one. Grip and everything is fine but my cards are hold like a "tent" when i push the two packets together. Imagine it like this:
_ _ . (the two packets are lying next to each other)
/\ . (these two packets are holding each other up when i apply pressure)
I know that i need to rest my grip/pressure so the cards are falling down, but when i do this the cards are just falling down like they were before. There is no "1 card guides the other card" etc. Its just like these bridges which you can lift up so boats can drive under them ... the go up, then they go down and everything is like before.
I hope you understand my problem. I dont know if this counts as "expore"? If yes maybe PM me a solution.
Thanks guys!
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
