A list of puns related to "Dagor Nuin Giliath"
It seemed to happen so suddenly. One minute Feanor and his host reach Middle-earth. The next minute there's a full on battle, Feanor is dead and Maedhros is hanging from a mountain by the wrist.
I was just starting to find Feanor really interesting too, despite the things he did. It mentioned it was a ten day battle too so I'm hoping there's more info somewhere.
Any NUin Boston CS students want to connect? I thought it's be nice to try and get to know a few people in my classes before
Hey guys,
I'm an NUin student and I'm able to register for class - should I only register for classes marked "NUin Program" in the portal or can I register for any non-honors class?
Thanks!
I'm a little confused about how to proceed, and I was hoping I could get some help. I know that NUpath is the core curriculum.
In the NUpath page, it says "Determine which NUpath requirements are met by the required courses in your major (see Undergraduate Catalog or Advisor)".
In the course search for CS 1800 (a course I'm doing)
I can also see the same NUpath information on this site: https://www.northeastern.edu/core/dashboard/
When I search for CS 1800, I see FQ (formal and quantitative reasoning)
So what exactly am I supposed to do with this?
In a semester, am I supposed to cover all areas from the NUpath with a course?
For NUin, I have to select some culture courses, so is it better to choose a course which ticks of more NUpath areas (like ENGL 3375)?
Are there always planned activities for NUin students? If there are does anyone know what NUin Boston students do? On this page there is a small list, so just wondering if this is all. I'm asking because I'm wondering if this will help us make friends? Thanks!
Their designs are really cool and each member is very memorable just based off their own little personality traits and quirks.
Most secret organizations are just there to look cool for instance, I played every single KH game and I still feel like I know nothing about any Organization XIII member aside from Axel. However Ouroboros is much more than that, you actually learn about each individual Ouroboros member slowly, their personalities, backstory and motivations, while playing through the Kiseki series.
Hello,
Iβve been accepted to the NUin program for class of 2025 and am thinking about going to England if I end up choosing NEU. We will be staying in this really nice place in London which is cool... but they arenβt paying for our food? IDK Iβd just think that with the high cost theyβd at least give us some money to spend or whatever... π
I know some locations do offer food as a part of the program but the London one does not include it. I was wondering for anyone else who did NUin in past years what their experience was with buying food (how much they had to spend each week), cause I feel like Iβll just end up eating bread for every meal because I am poor. Additionally, is there anything else that we have to pay for with our own money?
Thank you!
I was admitted early action into NUIN. In my financial aid package I got hardly any aid the cost to attend would be almost double my familyβs EFC. On my application I indicated I was not interested in NUIN because I had heard that it disqualifies you from receiving merit scholarships. I had a call today with a financial aid officer and they confirmed that the reason my financial aid was so bad was because of NUIN. Has anyone had any success with getting out the NUIN program for financial reasons? Any advice?
Thank you!
hey!
I got into nuin ed2 and I'm kind of leaning towards staying in boston, but I was curious if anyone knew anything about payment and whether it's less expensive than going abroad- for some reason they gave us very little info ab it LMAO
also are any other nuin admits planning on staying in boston? hmu π€
I was admitted into NUin and if I decide to go I would attend the Boston option. From what Iβve heard it is very hard being an NUin student and fitting in with a normal NU student. I was wondering if this is true and how hard it would be to make friends with the NU kids and even if it would effect my chances of joining a frat. Iβm a very social person and this is a big factor towards my college decision so please be Brutally Honest. (Also idk how I didnβt get NU but I got into BU and Georgetown)
I was just admitted into the NUin program and i was hoping some students who have done it could answer a few of my questions:
was it difficult to integrate into the school after you finished?
what locations are the strongest academically? im specifically looking at italy, england, and ireland.
were you able to make a good group of friends in your NUin program?
thank you guys sm!!
ok so i got accepted to the northeastern NUin program but after seeing all the posts about how the school puts lower qualified students into the program I'm seriously doubting my chances at other schools. I don't consider myself to be a bad applicant in terms of statistics so being placed in NUin has got me worried. Has anyone seen cases where a student got accepted to NUin but ended up also being accepted to better schools?
Northeastern is my dream school, and I got into the NUIN Boston and will choose Boston because I do not want to go abroad (with or without COVID, I want to be in Boston). I was doing some research, and this doesn't seem pleasant at all
I've heard of some of the issues such as Westin being a little far from the campus, and having a slight difficulty integrating with students after the NUIN semester, but I am fine with those.
I also had another questions about NUIN, how long is it? I heard it's only the first semester, so am I right in saying that I will only spend around 15 weeks in Westin, and once it's over I'll be housed on campus with all the other students?
TLDR NEU is my dream school, but I'm worried about the NUIN Boston program
I was recently admitted into NUin with a selected major of international affairs+history. Due to the pandemic, I am taking no risks in travelling internationally at this time. Is going to the Boston NUin location worth it? Do you feel ostracized by the other students? Was it hard to integrate into the community second semester? Please just share any opinions you have on the program and your experience.
hi!! i was recently admitted to these universities and i am so grateful!! i plan to major in business, so for cal i would want to try for haas, irvine iβm already in paul merage, and northeastern iβll be in dβamore kim second semester. i am having a really tough time figuring out which of these iβd want to attend. could anyone give some advice about northeastern and the NUIN program? im honestly a little worried and scared about the competitive environment at berkeley and donβt know if iβd be happy there. but at irvine or neu i donβt know if i would have the same resources iβd have at cal in exchange for a chiller environment. i also got into the other UCβs like SB SD davis which have better environments, but iβd have to study econ (i really hope iβm not sounding like iβm bragging i want to reiterate that i am super duper grateful and know itβs been super rough for everyone this year) so i was hoping if anyone would like to spare some of their knowledge on these schools, especially with being a business major and their environment! i come from a competitive school and iβm just not sure if i want to continue to go to a competitive environment :,(
edit: you guys are so sweet it makes me want to go to neu already π₯Ίπ₯Ί but i just wanted to give more background! money is not a big problem for me; as an only child my family is definitely much more concerned with my future and happiness at uni. i also got 10k from the deans scholarship from NEU which is really nice!! but thank you guys so much i really appreciate the feedback especially because i donβt know many people that go to northeastern β€οΈπ€
Hi! I'm a student who chose to do NUin Greece, however I don't have a passport yet. Apparently it takes a passport 10-12 weeks to process even if I pay for the expedited time because of the COVID crisis, and the proof of my passport is due June 1st so Northeastern can give us the information we need to obtain visas. Can any prior NUin students without a passport before doing NUin tell me how they were able to obtain a passport in the time limit and does anyone know who I would reach out to at NU about potentially not having the passport in time?
Thanks for the comments and advice?
There is a lot of speculation about what happens to Men after death in Tolkienβs works. They go to the Halls of Mandos for a short time, and then depart to somewhere even the Valar donβt know of.
According to legend, after the Dagor Dagorath, which is like Ragnorok from what I understand of it, the Second Music (or next version of creation) shall begin. Depending on who you ask, it is either said that Men or Elves will be a part of the Second Music and that the fate of the other is unknown. Iβm going to take the leap that this is a cultural/racial thing and that both will actually be a part of the Second Music but simply donβt include each other in their stories. This theory is further strengthened by the elf Finrodβs words when discussing the fate of men and elves:
βAnd then suddenly I beheld as a vision Arda Remade; and there the Eldar completed but not ended could abide in the present for ever, and there walk, maybe, with the Children of Men, their deliverers, and sing to them such songs as, even in the Bliss beyond bliss, should make the green valleys ring and the everlasting mountain-tops to throb like harps.β
And Tolkienβs commentary:
βIn Arda Re-made Elves and Men will each separately find joy and content, and an interplay of friendship, a bond of which will be the Past.β
And Galadriel says to Treebeard (who is mortal although long lived and I believe is considered to share the Fate of Men (along with Hobbits) about seeing him again:
βNot in Middle-earth, nor until the lands that lie under the wave are lifted up again. Then in the willow-meads of Tasarinan we may meet in the Spring. Farewell!"
βNor until the lands that lie under the wave are lifted up againβ is, I believe, a reference to the remaking of Arda after Dagor Dagorath when the sunken island shall be made to rise from beneath the waves where it had sunk.
It is also said that no one, not even the Valar, knows exactly what the Second Music will be like other than that it will be greater than the First.
And so for my theory. The Gift of Men is that they donβt have to wait all the long years as Arda Marred slowly decays. They donβt have to watch the fading of their world. When they die, after a short stay in the Halls of Mandos (possibly for healing/cleansing), they move out of the circles of the world, outside of thought and time, and go somewhere greater β to the Second Music or possibly to fight in Dagor Dagorath first and then to go to the Second Music.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hey guys! I'm doing NUin Greece this fall andI was just wondering how rooming worked in past years as well as if you can choose your roommates or if they are random. I'm pretty familiar with the rooming once students get back from NUin but I'm just wondering about what my actual fall semester in Greece will look like in regards to making friends and choosing roommates.
P.S. I've also heard that the grades you get in NUin don't count towards your GPA? Does anyone know if that's true?
From what I can understand NUIn only lasts for your freshman year first semester, but costs more for this reason. Even after NUIn ends would I still be billed like 75k per year for four to five years?
Personally I feel like the Dagor Dagorath makes it seem like the war/quest of the ring isn't that important. Like sure they succeeded in defeating the dark lord, but an even more powerful dark lord is going to return for an apocalyptic battle, I understand the context of Morgoth being doomed to fail in the Last Battle, but it still makes the war of the ring feel like a much smaller conflict. Thoughts?
I was accepted into the NUin program and the locations for the fall semester were just released, and the only one I qualify for is Boston. I have heard people have had bad experiences with the Boston program, and I don't think it's worth over $37,000 for something I wouldn't enjoy. Is there anything I can do about this? Is it possible that I could go to a state school for the first semester and transfer into Northeastern in the spring? I like Northeastern but I'm not sure what to do
First off, I know that I will get at least one comment complaining that Dagor Dagorath isn't canon. So I will say that A) this is a (hopefully) fun question about a fictional world and B) Dagor Dagorath is referenced to many times in the Silmarillion to be nothing.
Anyway, The Second Prophecy of Mandos and other mentions of the final battle reference Turin Turambar, Morgoth, Aerendile, the Valar, and the Armies of Ar-Pharazon returning to fight.
So here are my two questions: Who else is coming to join this battle, and what will happen to those that join (what side will they be on and how will come out of this).
Finally, this can be as Fanfictiony as you want, so go wild.
I'm sorry if this sounds dumb since some consider Dagor Dagorath to be non-canon, but at which point of event/age did Mandos speak of this prophecy and aside from the Valar, who else in Middle Earth know about this? I was just wondering what would happen if Sauron knew of this prophecy? (Take for example if he knew of it after the War of Wrath and before he started deceiving the elves into making the Rings of Power) Do you think he would continue pursuing his goal of enslaving ME, knowing that his master would just come back to mess things up again and that the world would just be remade anew (which would then put his hard work to nothing)? Thank you in advance for any answer :D
As you probably all know, 11 students were kicked out today because they were caught in a room together. I've been living here in the Westin since Sunday and I have seen some crazy stuff.
A few nights ago, I saw on someones snap story a video of people wheeling a table out of the conference room and into the elevator so they could use the table for pong. That was the room where the gathering took place. Idiots.
In the 600 person+ group chat that we have I've seen sooo many people commenting about how they think we are being treated like prisoners. My response to them is that they need to get over themselves. The hotel is honestly a really comfortable place to be and while it sucks that socializing is a lot harder, we have to remember we're supposed to be here for an education.
One problem that I do agree with is the fact that we're not really given any space close to us where we can safely socialize. There is a common room that can hold up to 16 people but with 800 students here, it's really not enough. We're not even allowed to sit in the lobby alone reading a book without getting written up. On campus there seem to be places (like the tents) where people can somewhat responsibly gather and I understand the students frustration here. Being told that we can't sit 6 feet apart with masks on just because of hotel regulations is bothersome. It's probably for the best but in the emergency zoom call they held today students concerns were not addressed, it just frustrated most. There are empty conference rooms that are GIANT that could definitely be used just as quiet study space that would really help improve people's moods.
The vibes I'm getting right now are that most people seem to think the restrictions are really stupid and while in room gatherings seem don't seem to be a major problem every morning you'll see a table of 4 students eating breakfast at the restaurant a block away.
I'm sure everyone at Northeastern rn has noticed people sitting in the grass outside IV wayyy less than 6 ft apart eating. I give it like one week until the administration starts taking pictures and suspends/kicks those people out.
The events today definitely scared people, but I don't think they are going to stop people violating the rules.
Also there is a 4 person capacity restriction in the elevators and I had to wait OVER HALF HOUR yesterday just to get a ride to dinner. We have been strictly prohibited from using the stairs and it doesn't make any sense. I really
... keep reading on reddit β‘I plan on applying ED and Iβm not really the biggest fan of doing NUin, but if it gets me into Northeastern Iβll do it. So if I say yes on CommonApp, are they gonna automatically select me for it, if Iβm accepted?
Side note, Iβve heard NUin is for kids with lower stats to make their ranking look higher, and my GPA is on the lower side so Iβm worried Iβm gonna be put there lol.
