Shit's hilarious.
Another Thursday means another new slate of content for BritBox UK. Perhaps the biggest arrival today is Da Ali G Show. While specifically only the first series was advertised as incoming, we have in fact been treated to all 3, including the U.S. series. This is actually a rare occasion where BritBox can be commended for their efficiency and tidiness, as they have collected all 3 series together, whereas All4 has separated βAli G in Da USAiiiβ into its own show. Of course, Ali G was a divisive character even at the time and the whole thing has probably aged even worse 20 years later but it was a cultural phenomenon at the turn of the millennium that feels right on a βbest of Britishβ streaming service. Here is the official synopsis:
> Booyakasha! Sacha Baron Cohen is back with his wincingly funny comedy series starring three of his best characters Ali, Borat and Bruno. Watch them interrogate unsuspecting celebs, politicians and other poor souls with a barrage of absurd questions.
Switching from Channel 4 to ITV, we have another classic detective drama from the archive. Wycliffe is another one of those 90s shows that solidly churned out 5 series and a Christmas special during its run and earned a solid audience, but it never gained the kind of notoriety of a mega hit like Morse. The first 2 series of Wycliffe were made available today, for a total of 12 episodes. Once again, here is the official synopsis:
> Detective Superintendent Wycliffe heads an investigating team of officers brought in to solve the most intriguing of murder cases on the magnificent and windswept Cornish coast in the far South-West of England.
And finally, here is everything else added today:
The City and the City (2018, BBC, 4 episodes) > Mind-bending crime thriller adapted from China Mieville's critically acclaimed novel. When Inspector Borlu investigates a murder in the city of Beszel, he finds a mysterious connection with the twin city, Ul Qoma and an old case.
The Politician's Wife (1995, Channel 4, 3 episodes) > A simmering tale of scandal and revenge. When MP's wife Flora Matlock discovers her husband's affair with a former escort girl, she wrestles with conflicting emotions. Should she play the dutiful wife? Or exact a just revenge?
Too Close (2021, ITV, 3 episodes) > Psychological crime drama that seethes with a chilling sense of dread. A forensic psychiatrist gets assigned to assess a woman accused of a heinous crime, but she cla
Anyone know why there arenβt available? Any clue if they ever will be? While youβre here, please fill me in on whatever other HBO shows are unavailable...Tales from the Crypt would be another.
Maybe this isn't the best subreddit for this, but I'm trying to figure out where I can find all the episodes and extra clips of da ali g show, including the original uk season and both us seasons. Ideally I'd like to get it all digitally.
I found this list on wikipedia of all the releases so what would I need to see all the content?: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Da_Ali_G_Show_home_video_releases
There's this dvd: https://www.amazon.com/Ali-Show-Compleet-Seerez-Remix/dp/B00TKGOIZI but the reviews say it's missing the uk season.
I also found this, it seems to include all the episodes but totally out of order, and what about the extra clips?: https://itunes.apple.com/au/tv-season/business/id946827501
Iβve seen the movie but I want to watch the show
They're all comedy actors who do "talk shows" that became famous in the 2000s/2010s for their controversy and, well..... idiocy.
[Request] Poster for Da Ali G Show (2000) and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020) matching u/Zchmhssn89 very cool Da Ali G Collection
Obviously what ties these three shows together is that they all put real-life people into "real" situations. But these aren't just "prank" shows (like Impractical Jokers for example). The thing that makes these shows so hilarious is that they create absurd, cringe-worthy and well-crafted psychological experiments. The things they get the guests to say and the positions they put them in are beyond anything that has been done on television before IMO.
Is there anything else on TV that comes even close to this?

RT @Cernovich: Sacha Baron Cohen would be cancelled today if he tried airing Da Ali G show. His show played on every racial stereotype and flirted with black face. When he gives his money back, then maybe he'll be worth listening to as a Speech Cop.

season 3 didn't seem to be any kind of decline

I love shows and movies that prank real people like Da Ali G Show, The Eric Andre Show, Dog Bites Man, Borat, Bruno, Nathan For You, and Trigger Happy TV. Usually these shows don't stick around for long so they're hard to discover, but I found out about half of these from reddit so I'm hoping there are more out there.
