A list of puns related to "Curie Institute"
i'm playing through with the railroad for the first time and i want to make sure that its still possible because im 90% sure my next big story quest is destroying the institute
I've tried finding stuff about it, but every time I talk to Dr. Amari she shuns me.
NOTE(i am using synth curie as my follower)
I downloaded SKK fast start Institute so that after I load the game up I skip to after I beat the quest Institutionalized. I'm trying to do Curie's side quest Emergent Behavior, but Dr. Amari isn't working right and I can't enter proper dialogue with her
Solutions pls?
With Paris rebuilt from the ashes by kilotonnes of diverted grain and supplies, the Union found itself with quite the problem. Depleted grain supplies. The Union would need to solve this. But with the skies darkened by volcanic ash, it was not wise to begin expanding agriculture now. And after all, it was a new era! An age of steel and steam and science and technology! The old methods would not do! The Union would need new agricultural sciences and ideas for a new age, but where would it...
"Paris."
"What?" Julius Schroder looked in askance and the bombed out building and Papa Claude.
Claude pointed at the smouldering ruins.
"That was once the Curie Institute, before the bombs fell," he said, "I will rebuild Paris, finer and better than ever. And I want the Curie Institute back."
"Eh." The Minister of the Interior was unconvinced. "Shouldn't it be in Strasbourg? A Lavoisier Institute or Oppenheimer Institute or something."
Claude laughed and shook his head. "No, no, Julius. You underestimate the value of reputation."
The old Frenchman put his arm around the young German's shoulders.
"This was the seat of Marie Curie's inventions. And also somehow, a biological research center! You want an agricultural research center? It's not glamorous work. But being heir to madam Curie's scientific principles? Now, that is glamorous. You want biology and agriculture, my friend? This shall give you that in abundance."
[m] Rebuilding the old building of the Curie Institute in Paris and turning it into an agricultural research facility. Not hoping for food because of the malus, but a bonus for 2 or so rolls next week perhaps?
I've mostly lurked on reddit, but something deep within me has inspired me to share a piece of my life with you.
This last summer, I had the marvelous opportunity to study abroad in Paris, France to learn French. Paris is such a beautiful city, and I took every opportunity to explore and see what the world had been hiding from me for so many years. I went with a group of students from my university, and we each had our own interests and wants for what to explore within the city. Yet, I had a really great friend who came me on all of my adventures.
My major is in chemistry, and therefore I wanted to explore the STEM-related areas of Paris. One of my primary targets was MusΓ©e Curie, a museum over the works of the Curie family open to the public. After class, I dragged my friend along with me and within a few metro stops we had arrived. The museum itself was modest and inspiring, filled with the archaic devices of century-old chemistry techniques. As I marveled at each room and wall, I noticed that the museum itself was attached to the Institute of Research, with only a garden separating the two buildings. I convinced my friend to accompany me to the gardens, which were populated by several scientists in white lab coats relaxing from the stresses of research.
The idea dawned on me to perhaps explore what the labs here look like. I'm already in Paris, how about an impromptu tour? I suggested the idea to my friend, who quickly shot it down. Yet, I was determined to get the full experience. I shed my backpack, and simply waited for one of the scientists to scan their key card at the door. I waited for them to walk just out of visibility, and caught the door before it swung closed.
Now in the labs, I walked around reading the research posters plastered on every wall; getting an idea of what the facility focused on. Of course I looked clearly out of place, yet I was never questioned due to directing my attention to the research on the walls. I took a quick look here and there, peaked my head into some of the labs themselves, and even had time to find a breakroom and drink a cup of water. Just as I was going to head out, a tall lady in a white coat approached me followed by two members of security.
"Monsieur! Monsieur! Who are you?" she called.
"Uhh..."
"Are you a tourist?"
"No. I'm a student"
"Where is your identification? How did you get access to this building?"
"I was let in by a researcher. I have my ID here:"
At this point, I had pulled out my S

The only thing I've seen that would make her mad is possibly destroying the railroad (which I'm assuming the institute does). Can I just leave her in sanctuary if that does happen?
I'll start, I just don't like Piper in the slightest bit. Personally, she gets on my nerves endlessly so I can't ever travel w her nor do I even like her being in sanctuary after I decided I didn't want her to be my companion anymore lol
Edit: some people mentioned their favorites too so I'll throw in my unpopular opinion: I am a hands down Gage simp. I am down tremendously and love him w all my heart.
Fallout 4 PSA: You are not a synth!
Hi! Iβm just here to tell you that you arenβt a synth and explain in no uncertain terms why that is
the case. Honestly, the theory that Fallout 4βs player character, the Sole Survivor, is a synth? I expected that to die out years ago. But weβve got some really large and impressive mods that have this faulty assumption baked into their story, so Iβm here to set the record straight.
But before I do that, Iβd like to discuss why this theory is so appealing to a large swath of the player base and, as such, refuses to die.
Skipping over the obvious benefit of role-playing the Terminator, quite a few people do not want to play as Nate or Nora. It...really is that simple. The story proceeds as if the SS is one, specific character. Probably has four in all Special stats. It does not care if you have 10 Intelligence with a maxed out Science perk, Justin Ayo will still decry your lack of scientific credentials. It does not matter if you are currently wearing power armor, Finn will still try to mug you and get wasted by Hancock. It does not matter if you just walk past Piper and the Mayor while they are having their argument, you will still have Story of the Century dropped into your quest log.
Donβt get me wrong, Fallout 4 is a game of choices. The game is filled with questions of your allegiance. Do you side with the iron men crewing the USS constitution or betray them to the scavengers? Do you help Bobbi No-Nose steal from Hancock to gratify her envy or do you reward her with a traitorβs death? The biggest of these is the Synth question; is honoring their inalienable rights a worthy trade-off for scientific progress? Are they too dangerous to be kept alive to begin with? Or are their rights a necessary sacrifice to build a brighter future?
But none of these decisions are the players.
These decisions are Nateβs or Noraβs.
If Fallout 4 was filled with dialogue checks, the four options you get constantly changing and switching up depending on your SPECIAL stat allocation and perks obtained, the general opinion of Fallout 4βs story would be much more positive. Because then these decisions would feel like the playerβs decision.
But itβs the same dialogue every single time.
Going with the assumption that the Player Character is a synth is a rebellion against this idea that youβre a grieving parent searching for their child and nothing else. Against this set of rails youβve been bolted to. That your character was prog

Perhaps you skip using certain weapons, or insist on wearing some specific wardrobe. Perhaps you refuse to kill someone or do everything in your power to preserve some NPC's life no matter how hard it is?
Mine are teddy bears.
Since I played FO3 for the first time I noticed Teddy Bears scattered here and there, often next to a small skeleton of a child, or just lying on a heap of other relics of the pre-war past.
Somehow I can't get over the idea that these toys shouldn't be treated like trash, so whenever I spot one I always take it and store in my private hideout alongside piles of weapons, ammo and other useful items.
This behavior isn't acknowledged by the game in any way, there's no reward, no gratification, nothing. Just the feeling of getting the job done.
Teddy bears deserve better.
Edit: guys, I thought it's going to attract little attention. I didn't expect to get so many comments and I can't answer all of them even if they are very interesting, so instead of a small friendly chat, allow me to post a few selected comments of yours just to show how much of meta-experience you can add to the game:

I've done a couple of different themes (Raiders vs Brotherhood) (The Pack vs Far Harbor) and some that were a smorgasbord of fun outfits. My Favorite place to do this is at Starlight Drive-in.

Because of this, I'm planning to try a run of the game in which I attempt to max every companion's affinity, and I'm thinking of what order to do this in.
[Keep in mind, this post is for the 3-Faction "Peace" Ending (AKA Minutemen without provoking RR or BOS)]
My rough order would ve:
Codsworth - Early minutemen and BOS quests until you reach DC, All the early/easy side quests like Drumlin Diner, the Galleria, and Thicket Excavations
Piper - Finding Nick, Diamond City Side Quests (Maybe save DC Blues for later, Killing Kellog, and Taking Independance/Old Guns
[I like doing Automatron around this point and I usually stick with Ada while doing so)
Danse (Until Affinity Cap) - Act 2 Brotherhood quests + Duty or Dishonour
Cait - Memory Den, Glowing Sea, Hunter/Hunted, Goodnieghbour Quests (Excluding Silver Shroud)
Deacon - Tradecraft, Boston After Dark, pretty much any and all Railroadd Quests you can do at this point, Covenant, Molecular Level (I'd also get through all the early Institute affairs such as Inside Job here)
Nick - First half of Far Harbour (Up to and including the DIMA Puzzles)
Longfellow - Second Half of Far Harbour
MacCready - Synth Retention, Battle of Bunker Hill, BH side quests, Vault 81/Hole In The Wall, Any remaining side quests in/aorund Malden
X6-88 - Basically grind anything instute related you can do before Mass Fusion since you've got a pretty small window to do this in terms of the main quest. Maybe do some catch-up around Salem.
Curie - Cambridge Polymer Labs, Act 3 Brotherhood stuff, and any unfinished Vault business (Including Vault 88)
Danse (Post Blind Betrayal) - You can still do Brotherhood quests with him, but you have to dismiss him before turning anything in so I'd probably suggest more catchup, maybe in Cambridge?
Hancock - Cabot House and Silver Shroud + Any remaining quests in Boston, Goodneighbour, or Cambridge.
Preston - Last few main/side quests quests, Defend the Castle, Nuclear Option, etc. I'd also suggest clearing quincy with him since he will appreciate that, aswell as any quests around there (Atom Cats, Kid In A Fridge, etc).
Gaige - Nukem Whirl, obviously.
[NOTE: I'm still debating wether to start or end with NW since those are really the two best times to do it imo (Unless you take open season before taking the settlements, which cuts out half of the DLC's content). Either you start on toug

Lord Kitchener travels to France and orders John French to re-engage the Germans on the French left flank, rather than fall back behind the Seine as Sir John wished to do (to recover from the drubbing, and because he thought the French would not stop retreating until south of the Seine anyway.) Although Kitchener has no military rank any more, he travels to France in his field-marshal's uniform, to John French's annoyance. Sir John agrees to remain in the line with the French and keep fighting.
The French capture a German staff car with paper in it that describe the German 1st Army's location and future movements. The French now know for certain that the Germans intend to pass east of the city, and that the French 6th Army (detailed to defend the city against direct assault) is free to maneuver, though the German First Army is only 40 miles from Paris.
St. Petersberg changes its name to Petrograd. (Not as german-sounding, see?)
The French Ministry of War instructs the army to carry out death sentences (for desertion) within 24 hours.
September 2, 1914 (Wednesday)
Japanese troops land on the coast of China to seize the German naval base at Tsingtao.
Zeppelins raid Antwerp.
German troops take the mayor and several citizens of the small town of Senlis, France and shoot them in reprisal for... well, something.
In China, off Tsingtao, the German gunboat Jaguar sinks the Japanese destroyer Shirotaye. China protests all this fighting in what is in theory neutral China.
September 3, 1914 (Thursday)
The German-supported "Berlin Committee" meets to plot rebellion in India to impede the British war effort in Europe. Mostly initially made up of Indian students studying in Europe, the group sought to obtain resources available for such a rebellion from anywhere available, including the United States, and via Irish independence networks that were also familiar to the Germans.
The French government leaves Paris to set up shop in Bordeaux. Included in this decampment is Frances entire stock of radium -- a single gram at Marie Curie's Radium Institute. Dr. Curie would shepherd the lead box containing the radium to Bordeux, then return to Paris to begin setting up mobile X-Ray machines to be used at hospitals closer to the front (driving the first one herself -- learning to drive for the task (at the age of 47.)) About 1,000,000 of the 3,000,000 citizens of Paris will flee as well.
The Royal Naval Division leaves

But some few weeks ago I felt a great urge to revisit the game. I was musing around with various concepts that could work for a hero in a post-apocalyptic world and it hit me that I would like to roleplay as a doctor who had turned adventurer. I set out to build a mod list that would suit my character, which took quite a while and had quite a few hiccups because I was too lazy to read the mod page.
Anyway, once everything was in order, my modded fun started. I played at normal difficulty. My character woke up in a dilapidated chapel while rain poured lightly through the broken roof. He wore a ragged doctor's coat and a surgeon's mask. He had myopia, thanks to a mod, which meant the glasses he was also wearing were actually needed to see clearly. He was scrawny, smart and pretty well equipped. Be Exceptional allowed for new perks and levelling up medicine.
I looked around for loot, taking in the sights as I went. There was a hatch, which led through complicated pathways to a stockpile reserve, now in the hands of raiders, which was something I totally did not expect. Now this is the type of stuff I like to see in games.
My next fun encounter happened at Graygarden. There I won an imaginary car from a dapper Mr. Handy robot and exchanged it for a cash prize. After that, I went and helped them out. Who would have known what that horrible water could have done to the Ms.' metallic skin! Thought it was a way better introduction to the "A settlement needs your help" mechanic than whatever Preston could have come up with.
Having realized that the radio signal I got was from a companion mod, I went out to pick her up. Turns out Heather Casdin is a quack that sells people stupid herbal shit. No, wait, her items actually work, in game. She's for real. :D My character was a DOCTOR and I didn't have any facepalming emotes.
Getting into Vault 81 was my first difficulty. I expected even more suspiciousness and isolationist, but once inside I met some really warm and wonderful people. I was given a tour by a kid and later looked for his bestie's cat. An old couple ran the canteen. It was so adorable. I couldn't wait to show the Commonwealth to Curie. Also, >!curing the boy with the antidote!< felt truly in-character. Oh, and when I later returned, the kids were listening to their teacher and the cat sat quietly in the classroom. Aww! She took her cat

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
