A list of puns related to "Courts Act 1971"
Introduced: Sponsor: Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand [D-NY]
This bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration which will consider it before sending it to the Senate floor for consideration.
Idk if this is the appropriate sub, but I just have to vent somewhere. The decision was changed from 22 months of imprisonment to 22 months of probation. 22 months is already, in my opinion, a very short sentence for rape.
Article is in Finnish so I'll try to provide the best possible tl;dr on top of what's in the title
The rapist penetrated his victim unprotected and by using violence
The rapist and the victim met at a bar, where the victim gave the rapist her address.
Due to the victims state of drunkenness she couldn't defend herself.
The rape happened in the stairwell (of the victims home?)
On top of everything, and I quote what the court of appeals said: "The act wasn't especially humiliating due to the time of night, which made it unlikely that any complete strangers would've walked in on them.
The previous sentence is changed to probation because the rapist doesn't have prior convictions"

This isn't even debating about wether or not a rape happened. It did. Both the district court and court of appeals agreed on that. Court of Appeals just thinks that the rape wasn't "violent", "humiliating" or "long" enough to justify imprisonment... they seem to unironically consider quick ejaculation an extenuating circumstance.
