A list of puns related to "Count Dante"
Iβm looking to proxy my custom chapters Master as Dante, but I donβt really want to use said Dante as his model isnβt the best plus I want my own. So if I were slap a model down what criteria would let me pass it off with most players?
the book version (or movie) not the fates one

Has Robert covered this? I'm relatively new to the pod (at least as a regular listener) but a search of my podcatcher for the relevant terms came up empty. Count Juan Raphael Dante (born John Keehan of Chicago, IL) was a martial arts "master", early manosphere grifter, and hairdresser active in the 60s &70s. He advertised a martial arts correspondence course in the back of comic books. He claimed to be the "Deadliest Man Alive" and/or who ever lived. He and his friends tried to rough up a rival dojo posing as cops and one of his friends died in the process.
I admit, there's not as much meat on these bones as there is in covering billionaires destroying our species or cults that created an industry that still holds massive sway today, but I imagine it would make for a relatively light one-off.
Unless Robert's already covered him and I just missed it. In which case fuck me, I guess.
That would be a very fun video that could rival OKI's video on Count Dante. Look up Count Dante and the Dojo Wars on Google it's wild and crazy.
I love this game so much and through rose tinted glasses, was looking back at these two fighters who Iβd love to see be made into heroes.
Do you think theyβd have a chance? Do you love either V or Edmond Dantes?
Thanks!
I'd been anticipating The Baron of Magister Valley for some years now, and only a few days ago, by sheer chance and dumb luck, I found out it had just been released. Look, I get that Brust was never and probably will be as popular as Tolkien, GRRM, Abercrombie, Sanderson, GGK, Rowling, heck, even Bujold at this point, but I at least expected something to follow this release. Plus, I noticed this sub has a soft spot for both Brust and Dumas, so it seems like a no-brainer that more people should be checking out this release.
The few reviews I've seen on Goodreads complained chiefly about Paarfi's narration. As with the Phoenix Guards trilogy, the narration style is a bit of a hurdle to overcome. Like Glen Cook's Black Company, these books are narrated using an in-universe character's writings, which means it is a unique and possibly fun method of narration, but also possibly a major turnoff for fantasy readers seeking a regular third person narration from the actual author. Another thing people didn't "get" about Paarfi in these reviews (and in many of the Phoenix Guards reviews) is that he's a parody of Alexandre Dumas. To be fair, you'd have to be familiar with Dumas to spot the joke, but it is a 400+ page joke, and if one does not get the joke, they may find these 400 pages unpleasant to read. Paarfi's narration is intentionally overblown, drawn-out, always digressing from the main point, milking out the word count as much as possible (Dumas did this because he was paid by the word, so Brust has a field day making Paarfi do it!). I guess because of Paarfi this isn't the most accessible fantasy book in the world, unless you've actually read the original Dumas book in all its overblown 1,100 page glory.
This book is set in the same world as Vlad Taltos albeit centuries before his birth. Elves are the majority race in the world, humans a small minority, and elves live for centuries, so without giving away spoilers, there may or may not be some elves in this book who survive long enough to meet and deal with Vlad. It may or may not be a prequel/origin story for some Taltos characters.
So basically, its The Count of Monte Cristo with elves, featuring a parody of Dumas narrating it. If this interests you, please read the book and post your impressions to this sub or Goodreads. I bought it for $30 at B&N the other day and will begin reading it myself shortly. I will post impressions when I'm finished. Thank you!
I just copied this from the Heroes Wiki
Naofumi also shares some similarities with The Count of Monte Cristo.
At first, they appear to have an ideal life, e.g., Edmond is a future captain, and he is betrothed to the beautiful Mercedes, and Naofumi having a peaceful life as an otaku.
Their life changed entirely when they were punished for the crimes that they did not commit.
Both of them treated their female slaves like their own daughters.
But their slaves loved them as much as a woman loves a man. (HaydeΓ© fell for Edmond and desires to be seen as a lover, not a daughter, Raphtalia also fell for Naofumi, and she desires to be with Naofumi)
They were deserted by the first woman they met.(Malty was the first woman who approached Naofumi in Melromac, and then she betrayed him. Meanwhile, Mercedes was the first woman who is betrothed to him, and she ended up with another man.)
Naofumi and Edmond started out as a naive person. However, their personality changed drastically due to betrayal.
Naofumi and the Count were betrayed by their "allies."
Naofumi and the Count have rage issues that they have difficulty in distinguishing between those who have wronged him and the innocent bystanders.
What do you think about it? There is also another one that I would want to put, >!Naofumi also became a Count later!<

How is this a good signing? I don't understand how we could possibly afford to take that big a cap hit next year from him given our current cap situation. Any explanations?
I watched The count of Monte Cristo for the first time recently, and I just started rewatching POI and saw this and I DIED laughing. I love this show
I've been thinking about the post credit scene recently, and I was hope someone could clarify something more me. Dante says that he's up one, yet Vergil retorts that they're even. Which win is Vergil counting? My memory is probably failing me, but I can't remember him winning.
