A list of puns related to "Cotswold Way Relay"
Hope it's okay to post this here. We're two Americans who will be hiking the Cotswold Way in mid August. We'll be flying in to Heathrow then going to Leicester for a couple of days, then on to Chipping Camden. What would be the best reasonably priced ways to get from Heathrow to Leicester and then to CC from Leicester? Thanks for any help!!
In your opinion, what news source do you think manages to convey current events in a way that is not written to rile up either side of an argument?
Where the verb 'slam' is never uttered.
Where there are no puns.
Where there are no ambiguous headlines.
Where the writing is dispassionate and free of adjectives.
Usually more of a lurker than a poster but as this race was a bit of a biggy for me I thought I'd have a go at a report!
THE RACE: The Cotswold Way 100
The race follows the 102 mile (ish!) Cotswold way which runs from Chippen Campden to Bath. Its a 95% trail footpath that was built by ramblers to see as much of the natural beauty and history of the area as possible. While the [Cotswolds] (http://geographical.co.uk/media/k2/items/cache/6fe1c589e796bff64c81da223cb0c48f_XL.jpg) are stunning (the area apparently inspired The Shire from LOTR) ultimately this means that you go up every hill you see...which ended up working out about 12,500 elevation gain according to strava, less fun for the thighs when you're on your third ultra marathon of the week.
You camp with the race organisers and about 100 other entrants for 3 nights at different spots along the route. Meals, tent and massages are all included. And an ice bath. But no thanks on that one. The first day is a piddly 16 miler, the second; a 30 miler, the third 25 miles (or 28 if you taking a wrong turning like me), and the forth a "flatter" (pfft) 33 miler
Its an untimed event and you can walk, and due to that I thought that would be an "easy" way into ultra marathons, having only run a single marathon about 3 months before. In hindsight though this was stupid. I mean its three ultra marathons back to back and a slightly more than half marathon to warm up. WTF. just a single 50k is usually where more people start... but anyway.
THE TRAINING: I've consistently run about 50 to 60 mpw for the past 6 months, so I have a fairly solid base, but to top it up I took to taking my 13 mile 1,000 ft elevation gain commute to work by leg power alone each week by mixing up cycling and running. My highest mileage week was about 75 miles I think, and that involved 5 run commutes to work. I didn't do any long runs though, my longest run before the event was the Paris marathon and that was agggesss ago... so good luck to me
DAY 1: I was ultra ultra conservative with my effort. While I've done back to back runs via the commuting and I know I'm fully capable of running 17 miles I had no idea how this race would affe
... keep reading on reddit β‘So, that was the Initiative intention. What if they accomplished that?
Edit: It would be a bit of a cop out, of ways. It wouldn't abandon either galaxy, it would have to be set relatively far away in the future so the effects of the ending would even out, it would explain why there's still quarians even if you killed them in ME3, why there's still krogan if you didn't cure the genophage, etc, etc.
If we move on from the orbiter being the game's menu, it will be huge for the game in my opinion.
Looking for some local brains/local experience here. I'm Canadian, popping into the UK for a few days of work. I'm going to try a two day run/hike north bound on the Cotswold Way. I've got plenty of ultrarunning experience (100 milers, 200 milers) so I'm not too worried about the distance. I will be carrying all my own gear for the two days including a tarp, bivy, and 0 C sleeping bag that I'll use to stealth camp Friday night just outside of Bath and again Saturday night wherever I get to (somewhere around Stroud). Trip dates are Oct 14 and 15.
Questions for locals or those with experience on the trail:
I assume it can and will rain. What temps should I be expecting? Current forecast look like 15-18 C?
What piece of gear would you bring that if forgotten would be a fatal flaw in your opinion?
Any suggestions on a likely stealth camping spot somewhere around the mid-point (or just north)?
Great bakeries/cafes for quick lunch/dinners that you would highly recommend?
Thanks in advance!
"Yeah, Rocksy, the dude's dead."
"Yo, Professor Bot, I handled that thing."
"What's up, Overseer? Yeah, I talked to everyone. What's next? Meet you at the Nuka Cola factory? No problem."
"I took care of that Free Radicals issue, Dutchess. What else do you need?"
Rose clearly has no problem communicating with you by radio. Except when she doesn't.
I have no problem having to return an item or pick something up for the next leg of a quest, but Jesus Christ, there are a lot of back and forth bullshit quests that aren't needed.
Artificial time sinks suck.
A lot of MMOs do this, of course. This game, though, at least has a very logical way that you should be able to effectively communicate with people at long distances. A crafted radio would at least be an added option to progress through quest lines.
