A list of puns related to "Corel Photo Paint"
I hope I'm missing something, but I suspect I'm not.
I recently got a dslr and I want to do basic edits to touch up my photos.
I have Corel Photo-Paint x6 on my computer, but have never used it before. Is it worth learning, or would current open source options be better? I use Corel Draw a lot, so I'm familiar with the layout, but don't know the capabilities of the program vs current programs.
Any advice is appreciated.
hello friends, how are you, lately I find myself with this error when pressing the option "Edit bitmap" and reinstall the program and it remains the same. does anyone have the solution? thanks

Hi ... sorry i couldn't find a "Corel Photo-Paint" reddit.
Hopefully this is the place to ask.
Does anyone know what "eyedropper select sample" is used for? and how to use it?
I know what pixel, 3x3, and 5x5 does, but have no idea what "select sample" does and how to use.
The "help page" of Corel Photo-Paint is not very helpful.
Thanks!
I have both, one is from my tablet purchase and one is the trial. I like both. Not sure which to use.
Hopefully I will find this post next time I forget one of the steps for saving a transparent PNG in Corel Paint:
1 - In object manager sidebar hide the background so only an object remains and the background is checkered. (IMPORTANT)
2 - Select the object so that it's object indicators are showing (IMPORTANT)
2 - Under file menu, click export to png file format.
3 - In the "save-as" window select the check box that is titled "selected only" (IMPORTANT)
4 - In the export to png properties window select RBJ (24) bit
5 - The preview window should now display a checkered background.
6 - Click save
I ended up buying two copies of corel paint shop on humble bundle because I thought a friend would use a key but turned out not to want it .. :/
I've only got one key, and I want to just give it out to whoever will use it best. I'm probably going to do a first come first serve?
TL;DR - Can anyone tell me what features I'm losing/gaining moving from Corel PHOTO-PAINT to Photoshop Elements 13? And is there a detailed chart somewhere showing everything that's in Photoshop CC that's not in the latest Elements? (More than just a high level, vague description.)
So I currently have CorelDRAW Suite X5 Home & Student, and use PHOTO-PAINT for most of my image editing needs. (Occasionally Irfanview and Paint.Net.) Before that, I used DRAW Suite 10, and before that, DRAW Suite 8. So while I'm not a professional, and most of my use is for the web (twitter, tumblr, facebook, forums, etc.), I do have some experience with PHOTO-PAINT. And I use it for more than just crop/resize/red eye/add text.
Lately PHOTO-PAINT has been nearly unusable, crashing all the time for no apparent reason. So I figure instead of upgrading to another version of Corel, I'll try Photoshop. Found Photoshop Elements 13 on Amazon for $50 (after Prime discount). I figure that's like 5 months of Photoshop CC subscription, and I get to keep it as long as I want, so it can't hurt to try. Read some reviews that say Elements has come a long way since the early versions, and it does have advanced tools, beyond just the My First Photoshop newbie-friendly stuff. But haven't found a real detailed breakdown of what's included and what's not. Much less a comparison to PHOTO-PAINT.
I'm sure most folks in this sub use "real" Photoshop, but hopefully someone can tell me what to expect from Elements. While I may consider a CC subscription in the future, I find it hard to justify a monthly expenditure for something that I don't use a LOT every month, and mostly for stupid internet stuff.
Currently, both are on sale. Affinity Photo is on the Black Friday sale and Corel PaintShop Pro 2021 is on Humble Bundles for $30 including Corel Painter 2021, AfterShot Pro 3, and so on. I wonder which one is better to buy.
My use case I think will be mainly for game art, especially for game UI. I'm not a professional but just a student of design major. And my goal isn't to be a game artist but a game designer. I just started to make simple art so I don't really know what I'll need in the near future. I imagine I'll be more likely to draw vector-based art so actually, I'm not sure to what extent pixel-based software will help. I don't need to edit photos that much but I see there is a technique called photobashing maybe I can leverage.
I've already decided to buy Affinity Designer so I think Affinity Photo would better integrate with Designer. And for the PaintShop bundle, it also has AfterShot Pro 3 so I guess maybe it's better in terms of photo editing and management. I don't need Corel Painter 2021 because I already have Clip Studio Paint Pro and tend to prefer anime-style drawing. So I don't need Affinity Photo for drawing either.

It's so exhausting - why doesn't the "delete" key work on a selected area? And why, sometimes, when it does decide to work, it deletes to background? Why are there so many color palettes? It takes so long to figure out how to apply a color that I forget what I was looking for.
I've had some good results, all by accident - surprises the clever developers hid in the maze. Oh, also, the help files are useless. And it's really cute how they make all of the shortcuts different between draw and paint - it should be advertised as a video game that will create art once you master all the levels.
I realize the idea of straightforward, intuitive software that stays consistent over time does not equal job security for the software engineers, but it's a really a huge headache for us poor, insignificant users. But that's not a concern of the developers, I get that.
I have both, one is from my tablet purchase and one is the trial. I like both. Not sure which to use.
