A list of puns related to "Cook Islands Māori"
Apparently the Māori tried to hid this evidence..
A memorial marking the contribution of Pacific nations to military conflicts has been unveiled in Wellington.
The bronze conch shell known as Te Reo Hotunui o te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa is sited at the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park.
At today's ceremony, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the memorial recognises the close relationship between Aotearoa New Zealand and other Pacific nations.
"This memorial stands in recognition of the service and sacrifice of the Pacific peoples who supported New Zealand in the First and Second World Wars and in subsequent conflicts around the world.
"It also stands as a symbol of Aotearoa New Zealand's special bond with our Pacific neighbours."
However, the Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, Mark Brown, who also attended the ceremony, raised New Zealand's poor treatment of the Pacific Islands' war effort.
He told the gathering that the contribution of the Pacific hasn't always been acknowledged.
Brown said the Cook Islands sent close to 500 men to the war, to reinforce the Māori contingents.
Ardern singled out coast-watchers who watched for enemy aircraft and ships from their Pacific homes.
"Pacific people served under the New Zealand flag in both world wars in foreign lands many miles from home and the life they knew.
"Many also served on the home front. I especially acknowledge the Pacific island coast watchers risking themselves to protect their homes, families and the wider region."
She said the memorial is an important addition to the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park."

I feel it is kind of relevant seeing how with the TMT/Sovereignty issue, but if the mods think it is not relevant. I'm okay with it deleted.

Are our instincts surrounding this so direct, or did we just evolve to communicate and pass down information between generations, and this usually included fire because of how useful it is?
Between Ozzy and Yul, who do you think deserved to win?? And why?? J curious!
There’s no argument that there’s a concerning higher proportion Māori and PI families in poverty compared to the likes of Pakeha or Asian families.
What can we do within the community that can help with this?

I think this is one of the most debated seasons on this sub. I am on a rewatch of it right now and think it’s kind of boring but has some really good players and fun moments, i’m still very conflicted on it. What do you guys think about this season?

I just watched Cook Islands here are my thoughts. Keep in mind I'm a new fan the seasons I've seen are seasons: 30-36, 27,40, and 41.
I've never been so invested in tribe challenges and wanted a tribe to win so bad more than when the Mutiny happened and there was just the Aitu four. Have there been seasons like this (Without Spoilers) where an underdog tribe stayed together and made it to the end?
Has any other player even confessed their love for another player from just a conversation? I mean if I was Candice and had to choose Adam or Billy, no debate I'm picking Billy 😅
I think I speak for a lot of people but could be wrong when I say Cao boi seemed like an inferior player until his boot episode. Yul blindsiding Cao Boi I think was his best move in the entire game.
Besides WAW I have watched 9 seasons and Yul, Ozzy, and Parvati I like more than another player I've watched also Adam and Candice would also be up there.
People like Becky annoy me because one of her only arguments for receiving a vote is earning it by making fire but took 1 hour still couldn't get a flame, and beat someone who couldn't even make a fire with matches.
I think I would've voted Yul but his overpowered Idol was a huge help with this still being new and not having the strategy of the modern survivor. But that's why it was such a good move to get Coi boi out because he noticed a way to eliminate the idol so Yul knew that would threaten his game.
Players like Ozzy need to win their first season they make it far or they won't win again because they have that reputation of being able to win out until FTC
These are just my thoughts I think other than WAW this is my favorite season so far. Let me know what you think.
Hotu Matua Easter Island: legend about the foundation of Easter Island. The colonizers came from Hiva, the Polynesian version of Mu, the great submerged continent. The expedition was headed around 450 AD. by Hotu Matua.
The legend of King Hotu Matua defines a social order headed by the royal family (Ariki Paka), the religious aristocracy that included wise men (Māori) and priests (Ivi atua), the military leaders (Matatoa), the masters who taught the art of reading (Māori rongo rongo) and the common people (huru manu) who formed the base of the social pyramid.

I'm watching Episode 14 and seeing Adam walk right up to Yul and straight up ask "Am I going home tonight?" The Yul worship was kind of funny in earlier episodes, but I'm kind of amazed by how many players just seem to be throwing in the towel.
It's weird to see how so many players just accept their fate while also giving Yul all the credit, even though other players in his alliance are clearly a part of the strategizing (and often actually deciding who goes home just as much as Yul is). I respect Parvati and Ozzy for at least trying, each in their own way.
Even some of the people in Yul's own alliance seem to have no desire to blindside him and take him out (I guess, twice, because of super-idol). They are literally giving up on a million dollars just to get 2nd-4th place. If I ever get on Survivor, I just pray for that many passive dummies to show up.
I do, of course, respect Yul's game thus far, he is very thoughtful and articulate and has leadership skills and a strategic mind. He used his idol to great effect. I just wonder how much the game would have changed if he didn't have the super idol. It is just such a profoundly game-warping mechanic.
