When Brandi threw herself into an issue with the great Dan Lambert, who has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where the hell was Cody? What kind of self respecting husband doesn't come out to back up his wife when she's in danger? What an act of cowardism, just leaving his wife in danger on, as an EVP, is essentially his show.

Now I don't blame Dan, in fact I'm a big proponent of the Lambert pill. I think it's absolutely awesome to have someone saying the truth about this company no matter how much trouble it may put him in with the powers that be. He can absolutely backup his words too, he's not just some internet tough guy. Not only does he have that previously mentioned black belt, but he put all those great Boston Crabs on Chris Jericho. I mean, even when Dustin came out to protect her, he never tried to actually get into a physical fight with Lambert and the Men of the Year, instead he just tried to stop Brandi, likely because he knew that in a physical fight Dan would easily take Brandi down while the Men of the Year could double team him.

To be entirely honest though, this was totally expected behavior from The American Ego. Cody is just the type of weak millennial that Dan has skewered in his promos. It's expected that after their first physical encounter on Rampage, where Cody needed help from Salty Sammy, that Cody would be absolutely terrified of ever encountering Dan and his boys again. Even the fans whom I usually consider total idiots were thoroughly agreeing with Lambert going off the cheers he was getting. I raise a glass to Dan Lambert, and toss my drink into the face of Cody Rhodes.

Is the best thing going in wrestling today and it's not really close.

This segment left me completely uncomfortable I don't know what to think about Like ATT are heels, and Lambert's gimmick is imo to be a conservative right man Brandi is supposed to be face But she is booed as hell (even worse then Cody) Then why What is the point ?

Is that even necessary to call Brandi a prostitute to get heat ? Are Page and Sky beneficiating something from this ?

• The Lucha Bros are backstage with Schiavonne. He says there was some miscommunication. Christian says “THESE DIPSHITS FUCKED THE MATCH”, he says next week Jurassic Express Vs. Lucha Bros next week for the title. Jungle Boy, the future, Penta says? You should let go of the past.

• Kyle is here with Young Bucks and Bobby “Ok.” Fish. Adam Cole says they will go down as the best faction in history. Matt says Kyle won't talk to us. Kyle says Hi. Adam Cole makes the Bucks leave. The thing that is great about factions it that it gives time, matches, and exposure to a lot of wrestlers at the same time. With limited TV time you can put eyes on a lot of people. Even if you aren't wrestling you still get TV time for being there. When AEW started and Jericho made his Inner Circle it was a move to give these things to Sammy, Jake, Santana and Ortiz. We fast forward two years and to the end of the feud between Inner Circle and Pinnacle and we've basically come to the end of needing the faction. Sammy is over thanks to his vlog and skills as a wrestler, Proud n' Powerful are considered one of the best tag teams in AEW and over despite kinda stalling for awhile. And Jake...well Jake could use some time with Jericho still.

It was more or less confirmed by Jericho in an interview that he pitched for Inner Circle to respectfully disband after the Pinnacle feud. But Khan thought they could all stay together but continue to thrive. Source.

And Khan was right for a time. Santana and Ortiz were doing Dark and Elevation matches to get their momentum going and Sammy went to become the TNT champ. No longer bogged down by a long faction war they were getting time to shine on their own: they straight up don't need Jericho anymore. They were doing their own thing without the other members of Inner Circle being involved. I know people here say Inner Circle should have disbanded but it was working well enough. Then the feud with American Top Team happened.

The feud with ATT was one that would have two goals from what I could tell: use the master mic Dan Lambert to push Men of the Year (Scropio Sky and Ethan Page) and bring more eyes to AEW by using MMA stars Andrei Arlovsk, Jorge Masvidal and Junior Dos Santos. They would need someone to feud with. But who? The only face factions big enough to take on the size of ATT were Inner Circle or the Nightmare Family. But the Nightmare Family were embroiled in a feud with Malakai Black at the time. MAYBE Best Friends could have done it and put their long ass never ending feud HFO on hold but they didn't and it would have helped to have Trent back. Also I don't believe we reached the point of the feud with HFO reaching unbearable levels yet. Plus you needed skilled wrestlers of Sammy, Jericho, and PnP's caliber to have a proper match with MMA stars of little wrestling training. I dunno if these goals

I wanted to put my thoughts down about where I saw both promotions (and the competition between them) as we close out 2021. I nearly did it in 2020, thought better of it and wished I had, only because a year in wrestling is like 30 in real life. So much changes so quickly, I thought it would be good to see (at least from my perspective) where things are. I'm also into talking through a number of these points so it would be cool to talk about a number of them.

WWE

WWE seem to be in an edging competition with their audience. What's the slowest we can take things, the most stripped back and basic we can do this, in order to make as much money as we can? Gone are the fun intros, replaced with big block letters on a tron and a reflective floor. Gone are over 80 wrestlers this year. Granted, 3/4's of which were midcard or tour fodder, and un-needed. Gone too are surprises, pace or excitement.

WWE made it's hay being shocking, violent (also offensive, sexist, homophobic and all the rest - a different time) but mostly by being entertaining. It surprised, thrilled and felt unpredictable. Modern WWE is the absolute antithesis of that. Sterile, safe, predictable - comforting in it's own way. You know each week you're going to get your champion, multiple recaps, slick, professional presentation and a safe pace that means you can miss a week or two and catch back up. Storylines are eked out for quarters and halves of years instead of weeks now. Look at Brock vs Reigns - the Wrestlemania headline program started at Summerslam. WWE have done long builds before, but often with more to sustain them.

On the positives, it has become the market leader in inclusivity. POC, LGBTQ+ performers and any other minorities are never treated as special attractions, nor do WWE trade off the worthiness of being more inclusive. They just do it. The progress from presenting native Americans as savages with no shoes 20 years ago is pretty staggering.

It is still the market leader. It still feels huge. WWE is spectacle. It is also definitely professional. it's presentation is always top tier - be it on TV, at events or their PPVs. The approach to TV makes everything seem larger than life, which is really cool. It's strict approach to tiered talent means that while yes, moves are heavily limited, performers are protected and feel unique. Big moments, as infrequently as they come, feel bigger for it. It's an exercise in minimalism, often at the expense of entertainment.

I hear a lot of people say Sammy's reign was the weakest of the TNT title's history, and while I don't think it's an unfounded opinion, I also don't think he was really given a fair shot at having an entertaining reign. He seemingly spent like half his title reign doing Inner Circle stuff with Jericho, and the other half basically fighting whatever new signings showed up. The former I think really set him back as a champion, as during the whole Jericho/Lambert comedy hour you almost forgot Sammy Guevara was the friggin TNT CHAMPION and that's just unacceptable in my opinion. He didn't even get to defend the title at Full Gear because of the Jericho and Lambert stuff. He could and should've spent that time having his own feuds with guys, not just new guys with next to zero build. Even his eventual loss to Cody had zero build attached. Don't even get me started on how Cody puts people over seemingly so he can get the win against them down the line, but back to Sammy...

Every wrestling company is going to have questionable booking decisions, but I think this time around they really did Sammy dirty by giving him really nothing to work with and set him apart from the other TNT champions. At the very least, I hope they use this interim champion thing with Cody as a chance for him to have an actual long term feud on his own. That being said I'm pretty apathetic and burnt out on Cody Rhodes so we'll see if this thing with Sammy turns out alright. Just my $0.02.

(No I'm not a Cody hater he's genuinely a top 10 performer, but at some point he's gotta straight up lose a feud. The last time this happened without him getting a "revenge" match was like early 2020 with MJF.)

I mean Punk should have been the heel to take a dump on AEW originals and Brian should have been the savior from heels like Bucks, Omega and Cody.

Punk's best ability is to talk. Historically almost everyone is at their best mic work being a heel since that's how you can catch people's attention.

One good indicator imo is that against Eddie Kingston which is a natural AEW style babyface people were quite ready to boo him. If he comes in and instead of becoming AEW's John Cena he would go and trash guys like Darby and Eddie people would love to boo him and it would be much more engaging and would turn those matches and feuds into something you could be excited for because you would root for those guys to beat him instead of already knowing who's gonna win and no possibility for any continuation and no leftover heat.

Right now it's just too safe and too predictable for me, and he has lost a step in ring which he could makeup with heel antics. And right now he could be going for Hangman's title which would make a star out of Hangman since Punk could really go at him on the mic and make him the underdog hero which is Hangman's best suite.

Brian is a natural baby face. His heel promos has a "wink wink" feel to it because he's been such a big element of wrestling in the past decade that everyone knows who he really is and what big hippie love mongering nice dude he is.

Again the indicator is his short feud with Omega, everyone wanted him to kick his ass, they could continue on that with him against Bucks, Cody, perfect guy to go against MJF or Lambert faction, could literally teach them all a lesson on being likable and also on what to do in ring.

They still have to deal with Yes chants even after turning on Hangman, and even though his matches have been the best AEW in ring matches by a thousands miles him being a heel against Hangman doesn't work for me as a story since it's too obvious Brian is acting a heel and doesn't really mean ill will to Hangman.

So, do you agree? Wouldn't it be better the other way around?

So it was a banger of the show, all the matches slapped hard. I was followed by a security for some reason also the smell of Doritos and unwashed musk was bad until I brought out the febreeze and sprayed my nostrils with it.

First match was Powerhouse Hobbs vs Dante Martin, probably because some thing about diversity they wanted to show they aren't racist. A lot of commercials probably aired during this segment. Banger of a match, powerhouse Hobbs won with a dominator they're forming a Nation of Domination team. I seen some unrelatables talk about being held down. He said "oh my brotha testifyyy!!"

Serena Deeb vs Shida - cool match but Tony Khan came out during commercial and said no need to worry this is only female segment of the night. He came out like early 2000s Eric Bishoff and was saying something about hot lesbian action & said people don't care about this segment. He sent 3 minute warning on them.

3rd Match was Daniel Garcia vs Sammy Guevara - a boring generic promo & Sammy wins with his finisher the EngagementBreaker it was a boring match between two vanilla midgets.

Speaking of vanilla Midgets, Adam Cole came out and said he's number one contender and wants to fight the charisma vacuum himself..Adam Page, it was a boring promo and he said cowboy shit and people liked it.

Dan Lambert came out and said everyone is virgins, the guys next to me shook their head and pulled their phones out. They went to Twitter to complain also this forum thar starts with Square in name, didn't catch it all.

4th match- 10 people tag match, didn't catch who was in it but I had to go get alcohol because they said they would film dark after. Trust me I needed it..

Main event - CM Punk vs Wardlow. Cm punk won of course he did, Wardlow lost to Cody, Jericho, Darby he pretty much loses to everyone right before they face MJF. Obvious match and Cm Punk said Wardlow was green.

Piraeus, Athens, Greece — 11:26 AM

The late morning sun rose high above the port city of Piraeus. Sailboats dotted the shore, fishing ships and leisure cruises alike just pulling into the harbor to avoid the lunchtime rush.

Sunlight streamed through the windows of an office in a building on the shoreline. Neighboring occupants knew it as a travel agency—despite the number of customers that it received, the office was very lightly furnished, with a few computers on cheap wooden desks in scattered cubicles and a single plastic plant standing in the corner in defiance of all laws of feng shui. The receptionist slept face-down at the front desk with practiced confidence.

Of course, there was a lot more to this agency than cheap cruises and guided tours. Secure telephone lines linked it to a network of similar offices across Athens, collecting data on secluded shipping routes and cargo that many would kill for. In fact, many had, and even more had tried.

The front door swung open. The sound of the bell hanging above it was immediately drowned out by the sound of heavy, heavy footsteps. With all of the subtlety that he could muster, Savvas Aniketos squeezed through the doorway.

“Excuse me,” he asked in Greek. “I’d like to know if there are any riverside tours tonight.”

With a ‘snrk’, the receptionist shot awake. The gears in their brain whirred to life as they rapidly processed the man standing in front of them and the code phrase that he said.

“Right aw-oof-right away, sir!” The receptionist yelped as they fell out of their chair and scrambled to the back office.

Savvas released a heavy sigh. He set his briefcase down on the floor and picked the sturdiest-looking chair to rest on. Scratching his beard, he ran through his mental itinerary one more time. The board of directors and the stakeholders seemed happy with Agoraeus’ predicted profits for the next quarter. Savvas felt that the meeting could have ended a half-hour earlier. At least the commute had gone smoothly—he gave a substantial tip to the cab driver for getting him to this building in time in spite of the distance.

After a few minutes, the receptionist arrived at the front desk again and quickly ushered him into a back meeting room. Inside…one of his right hand men waited, sitting with his arms crossed and a table between them. His hands were a dark tan, clasped together with the man hunched over, working at a tablet device until he looked back
