A list of puns related to "Cochise County Cowboys"
In the Wasteland lore (which OWB loosely follows in regards to the Desert Rangers), the Desert Rangers were located in Cochise County and operated out there doing their business (while also reaching into Vegas and the Mojave) to defend and help the locals.
The various advisors you get after taking over the Cowboys make reference to Arizona Rangers, and the Cowboys follow the Rangers stylistically (cowboy weapons and attire).
The Desert Rangers in this timeline had been operating across Nevada and Arizona for years before being pushed out of Arizona by the Legion and having to retreat back to Ranger Citadel. What if the Cochise Cowboys are the remnants of the Desert Rangers that were lost and stuck in Arizona?
The Legion describes them as raiders but they could just be targeting the Legion patrols and caravans due to their previous allegiance and being trapped in Legion territory and wanting to do as much damage before they are inevitably cracked down on. Their land is also right along where the Desert Rangers get cores if they follow the NCR path and go back to Arizona. The only thing that diverts this is the whole cowboy worship, but the Desert Rangers are known to incorporate tribals (mentioned in their neutral path), or the locals could just be partially basing their faith off of their old protectors, the Desert Rangers.
I have no idea if this was intended but it was just some similarities and coincidences I noticed and I felt like it would be cool to share
Fun Fact: The headquarters of the real life Arizona Rangers is located in Tuscon, Arizona. So the Cowboy Country is between the land that gets cored by the Desert Rangers and the headquarters of the actual Arizona Rangers, so that's interesting
Edit: As of 3.0 this is now a part of the actual mod, I may have been onto something
I am planning to be down in cochise county (Benson, Dragoon and St David area) for some night photography later this month and am needing some hiking ideas to kill the time during the day.
Does anyone have some good trail suggestions? Not looking to do kartchner cavern state park.
Also I have posted the same in cochise county subreddit.
>On Tuesday January 26th at 12:00 noon SAR was activated for a hypothermic Arizona Trail hiker in the Huachuca Mountains. The 32 year old male hiker had started from Montezuma Pass on Monday, made it approximately 3 miles and setup camp.
>
>Tuesday during blizzard conditions he called family reporting his tent had collapsed and his boots were frozen.
>
>SAR responded to Montezuma Pass where 2 teams began the dangerous hike towards the subject.
>
>At about 4:30 pm clouds cleared, wind died down, but the team was still over 2 miles from the subject. AZDPS Tucson Ranger was requested to see if they could get in and rescue the subject. As they approached the location the aircraft suffered a mechanical problem and departed the area to the Sierra Vista airport. Requests went out to the US Air Force 943rd Rescue Squadron and US Customs Air and Marine, both located at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson for a hoist equipped helicopter to recover the subject and SAR personnel. While authorization was in process for the Air Force the CBP Blackhawk completed maintenance and launched to the scene. Once on scene the subject was hoisted and flown to Montezuma Pass where SAR medical personnel began warming the subject. The Blackhawk returned to the top of the mountain and recovered the remaining SAR personnel.
>
>The CBP Blackhawk then loaded the subject back in the helicopter and flew him to Canyon Vista Medical Center.
>
>Great job by our SAR volunteers who put their lives on the line to save a life.
>
>And thanks to AZDPS Air Rescue and to the US Customs Air and Marine Unit for getting everyone out safe. This subject would not have made it through the night and could not have walked the 3+ miles out to Montezuma Pass.
