A list of puns related to "Coast Miwok"
Finding this article reminded me of the thoughts and feelings I had as an Indigenous person hiking in the Muir Woods and reading the posted history signs and timelines.
I'm so glad that there is recognition of the harm American conservationists have done, and continue to do, Native peoples, as well as recognizing the history of the people we praise when it comes to nature.
Started on the East Alicewood Trail and cut onto Fern Creek! I went on a Tuesday a few hours before closing so the trails were practically empty. If I had more time I would've loved to hike the canopy view trail.

Map of the California Republic and surrounding nations
Intro
The Bear Flag Revolt of 1846 is a little known rebellion that took place in the context of American Manifest Destiny. In our reality it was a successful if minor revolt that happened in the city of Sonoma, California. A group of American Settlers led by William B. Ide and John C. Fremont seized control of territory in the north of the San Francisco Bay Area. This scenario is an exercise in what if the Bear Flag Revolt was a more major rebellion similar to the Texas Revolution ten years prior. It is also a much more fleshed out and very altered version of a scenario I submitted to Alternate History Hub for another Alternate Countries contest way back in 2014. I hope you all enjoy and good luck to everyone who enters.
The 1842 Gold Rush and American Settlement
American settlement in the Californias dates back to the 1830s when the first groups of settlers arrived at the feet of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The largest group of these early settlers were of the Mormon faith who were attempting to escape persecution in the United States and Republic of Texas. Most would settle east of the Sierras, but a few would continue past the mountains to the lush and fertile coast. This settlement picked up in the early 1840s when gold would be discovered in Southern California. This first gold rush would lead tens of thousands of people to leave the U.S. in an attempt to strike it rich or as an excuse to escape persecution, within this wave the largest group were the Irish as well as German Catholics. Mormons, Irish, and German Catholics would make up the largest groups of white settlers in the Californias, with the latter two of these groups settling mostly in the central valley and along the west coast. While there were early conflicts with the Mexican Californio population, the shared faith in Catholicism would quickly stem any conflict. The gold discovered in Southern California would quickly dry up by 1844, with many of the new settlers turning to employment on the many Califonio ranches and farms in the region or settling in the burgeoning coastal cities of San Diego, Monterrey, and San Francisco.
The Monterey Massacre and 1845 Insurrection
During the dictatorial reign of Antionio Lopez de Santa Ana, the Californio population suffered greatly. With much of t

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?

So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

Hi everyone: I was curious about the names of the various servers/worlds, and here's what I've found. Sorry if some of the formatting is a bit off. I basically copied/pasted mostly from Wikipedia.
While everyone is scrambling to determine which server to join based on the preferences of friends or streamers or just "sounding cool", I was super curious as to where the ideas for the names came from.
I spent the better part of this weekend digging through Wikipedia and Google and many other educational sites I probably haven't used since college to try to figure out where they pulled the names from and what they mean, or what they're in reference to.
A big shout out to this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/newworldgame/comments/pt2906/na_west_server_name_meanings/) for all the info on the NA West servers.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to figure them all out. Your help in that aspect would be truly appreciated. I had actually planned to make a YouTube video out of this info, but won't have time before launch, so if anyone wants to use this info for such a reason please feel free.
