Considering both updates will be on the PTR at the same time, I would expect that both role queue and Sigma will be released to Live simultaneously.

As anybody who has tried out role queue on the PTR knows, the fastest queue is easily the Tank role, with a seemingly much higher proportion of people queuing into support and DPS. In my experience if you queue for all three, you get put on tank like 80% of the time.

Releasing a new Tank hero at the same time as role queue is a great move, because everybody who wants to try Sigma will have to queue for the least popular role. gg Jeff.

The music for the tower runs on a one hour loop, and features many popular 1930s songs. It appears that Disney simply added some echo and slowed the songs a bit to make them seem more “ghostly”, but in some of the songs this is evidently not the case. It is most noticeable in Fats Wallers “Inside this heart of mine”. The original recording has a very different vibe to it than the Disney version. Some of the lines are spoken more slowly, more deliberately, in a way that I think it is impossible to edit a sound. Also, some of the words are different in the Disney version.

What do you guys think? Is it sound editing, “remixes” of the songs done by the same singer, or completely different singers hired by Disney?

2021 was a difficult year, but I was lucky enough to try a ton of new games over the course of the year. Here are some brief thoughts on each of them!

##Not for me…

Roll To The Top! (3/10): Take this with a grain of salt, as roll and writes aren’t really my thing. However, this ‘back to basics’ take on the genre was probably the most bored I’ve been with any game I played in 2021. The dice switching mechanic is unnecessarily fiddly and slows the game down, which is a big problem when the best thing the game has going for it is how quickly it finishes.

Godspeed (3/10): I had high hopes for this one, but it fell completely flat. The semi-cooperative element (the ‘High Council’ event cards) just felt like they didn’t work at all. The rest of the game was more functional than this, but it wasn’t any more fun.

An Otter Won (3/10): Two-player trick taking that has some interesting ideas around set collection scoring conditions. Unfortunately, the actual trick-taking is dull and the only interesting decisions are in working out which card you should take as your reward for winning tricks. Some may enjoy it, but this felt far too mathy for us to get any enjoyment from.

Beyond The Sun (4/10): As someone with less-than-great vision, I will always consider games with vast amount of variable small text spread out across a big central board to be bad game design. I can’t remember too much about how it played to give any meaningful critiques, but I certainly found it a slog.

Fort (4/10): I’ve always been someone who enjoys building things in games, whether that’s decks, engines or anything else. Fort seems to actively push against building longer-term strategies, instead encouraging players to make the best of what’s available to them in the shorter term. Nothing wrong with that… but personally I didn’t like it at all. Fort doesn’t really have a ‘game arc’ and it made me realise how much I need that in my games.

Ghost Blitz (4/10): This is pretty much the same game as Dobble. I hate Dobble.

Oh My Goods! (5/10): We played through ‘Expedition to Newdale’ in 2020 and enjoyed it, but felt that a few of the elements added in (notably the map board) felt superfluous. Going back to Oh My Goods, the original card came Newdale was based on, quickly changed our minds. The game that’s left is slow, stodgy and not especially interesting.

I think I have touched on this subject before, but I'll recap. The modders are doing a fantastic job. They are doing things the developers can't at their current capacity or won't.

Take DJ Kovrik's minimap mod for example. It offered something better than what the game's minimap had, at the time. A great mod and a great solution to the problem the in game minimap presented. Then CDPR came out with their solution for the minimap, which obviously is a more sound and robust solution to the issue. DJ Kovirk, with his coding skills and using a modding platform like CET, did the best he could which was at the time of the mod's release, the best solution. But that solution used a workaround, and had some limitations.

CDPR's official fix however, goes to the root of the issue, that tackles things like asset streaming that is tied into the minimap itself. Once they were able to solve that, they provided us with an overall better solution to the minimap issue.

The way KeanuWheeze introduced the metro station is simply brilliant. And the best part is, his efforts are 100% legit. I know him for being someone who has **integrity,** and he doesn't delve into using *"Stolen"* code, and the stuff he came up with is simply his magic and understanding of how things work in the game. The Metro Stations are a part of the Open World aspect of the game, and empty NCARTs you see randomly running through those tracks are actually something they coded into the game, it's supposed to go to from point A to point B then disappear throughout various locations. It's meant to give you the impression that the city has public transport, and obviously players wanted to experience that transport themselves.

CDPR probably had intentions of developing a fully working metro station at some point at the back of their mind, but for it to function to a level of satisfaction, something they could ship at an official capacity while maintaining a certain level of quality and standard. It'd take them quite the development time for implementing it the way they'd wanted to, and testing time as well, something they simply couldn't afford to.

As a modder, you can use some smoke and mirrors to get some features and stuff working that wouldn't pass the internal standard or requirements, and CDPR themselves probably wouldn't have approved the implementation of metro the way the Mod does. They'd have wanted you to be able to board the tr

Yesterday I needed to get a blood test done at a clinic in my neighborhood where you just show up and get seen on a first come first served basis, so I walked up, saw a queue with about four people and stood behind the last one. Now I'm naturally a very distracted person so after this I just followed the steps of whoever was ahead of me while looking down at my phone. A solid five min later a woman angrily says loudly: EXCUSE ME BUT THE END OF THE LINE IS BACK THERE! I was honestly stumped and wasn't really sure what she meant so I just managed to mumble "I don't understand..." And she repeated "THE END OF THE LINE IS THAT WAY, I WAS HERE WAY BEFORE YOU YOU NEED TO BE BEHIND US." To which a man standing next to her added "Yeah I was here too" or something along those lines.

I felt mortified and confused so I started walking towards the very end of the line walking past all these people I supposedly cut in front of but had actually never seen in my life. The man at the end of the line said: "oh no no you're ahead of me :) I just got here" so I thanked him and said " oh, thanks yeah those people are angry at me but I honestly didn't see anyone so thanks for telling me".

To which the woman said again "YOU DIDNT SEE ME?REALLY???" I said "No..."

I managed to stay in the queue but it was very difficult as I silently burst into tears, thankfully with the covid mask and my glasses it hopefully wasn't very noticeable and I managed to regain composure before it was my turn.

Now I can't stop punishing myself for not having come up with a clever answer or telling her to fuck off or something. I keep replaying it in my mind and I honestly just want to let it go but I can't.

What would you have done/said? I also imagine this woman feels she's in the right as everyone seemed to agree with her so I guess I was the asshole in this situation but I feel so hurt and put down.

I got a challenge to do 1 oddball match a few days ago...help me. Please someone help me. When I heard people going on gamemode droughts I thought "Possibly, but highly unlikely." Kill me, KILL ME! My hubris should be undone, I've learned the meaning of Christmas, I've prayed away my sin, now let me die, let me die!

But really I get why people have been wilding over this stuff and to learn it's damn near irreversible is pretty nuts. Worst part is that I like Oddball, easily my 4th favorite mode behind assault, infection and juggernaut. I want Oddball. BTW just loaded into another slayer match when making this. So someone here will atleast kill me.

Kathmin looked over the balcony. This was one of his favorite traditions at the Annual Galactic Scientific Forum, standing at the railing, watching the crowd arrive below. It was captivating to observe as individuals rediscovered old friends, colleagues huddled to preview their most recent papers, and the conference hosts tried to herd the galaxy’s most distinguished minds, like children, into the myriad registration queues winding their way through the grand reception hall.

“Still fascinated by the fact most species greet each other by shaking their manipulating digits,” a voice questioned behind him? Kathmin turned to find his old friend, Rhubul, approaching. Rhubul had been his roommate at the university on Sauhng Prime ages ago, and they’d remained friends, using the AGSF as an opportunity to reconnect whenever possible.

“Still mildly apprehensive as to whether or not the sanitizing protocols are sufficient to protect them from the contact,” Kathmin responded?

“No, no, my friend,” Rhubul responded, “following the outbreak of Tarmin parasites on Vena 2 this year, the committee reviewed the decontamination protocols in-depth and made a few modifications to the pre-arrival requirements.”
