[general] Clear sighted and gods?

So, if a mortal that is clear sighted sees a god for the first time, and knows basically nothing about that world, do they just see them as something different, not knowing what that difference is?

I hope I'm the first to say this about the next US presidential election. Last election left plenty of people mad, but we won't have any near sighted politicians next time, because whoever runs in 2020 will have a clear vision of the future.

Because 20/20 vision means you have perfectly good sight.

Pun on a pun: I wonder if RealClearPolitics.com will catch on.

Random musing on Clear-Sighted

Apparently, nobody else has made this connection yet, so I guess I have to do it.

The name "clear-sighted" is oddly similar to a very famous word I'm sure you're familiar with. In French, clear is "claire," and "sighted" or "seeing" is "voyant." So "clear-sighted"--> "clairvoyant." So are clear-sighted thinkers... clairvoyant? Like, knowledgeable to an almost spooky degree? Not necessarily magical, but personable and intuitive like Shawn Spencer or the Wizard of Oz. Maybe even _they_ think their powers are magical. (Note that the difference between them and, say, Fascinators are that while both are equally out-of-the-ordinary and struggle with putting their thoughts into words, Clairvoyants [ ;) ] are better at engaging with people and pursuing goals, while at the cost of a narrower spread of expertise and an inability to balance multiple tasks at once.)

If somebody who's near sighted didn't have their glasses on, but took their phone out and pulled up the camera so they could see what was in front of them on the screen, would it still be as blurry or clear(er)?

When I first started thinking about it I was convinced that it would have to be clear bc the screen would be closer so they'd be able to make things out more, but the people I've asked think that it'd still look just as blurry. Where are my near sighted friends when I need them

ELI5: I'm far sighted. Are there reverse-blurred images that would appear clear to me?

When I take off my glasses I see everything blurred. Is there some sort of picture that could be blurred in the opposite direction so when I look at it it would appear to be clear? Even something as simple as a black line?

intent edit: I'm aware of how optics work and realize things such as glasses bend light to send the correct image to my brain. The intent was more of an artistic question. Could an image be made that would essentially look blurry (or scattered in some way) but when it is blurred would look solid?

You could take an image of a black circle, put it in photoshop, and apply a blur effect that would diffuse the edges. Save that blurry looking image. Could you take that simple blurry image of a circle and reverse the process to make it into a solid circle again? Then go a step further and make it even more...opposite of blurry. Whatever image you are left with, if you were to put it in photoshop and apply the original blur effect, it would be the original image of a black circle. Essentially if I looked at the opposite of blurry image without glasses, it would look like a solid black circle. Basically is it possible to see a solid edge without glasses?

Answer edit: random_number_string found this first link. For all you perfect vision people, the blurred version is the second link. http://i.imgur.com/z5XTf5S.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UeW4ih8.jpg

Texting my GC sister about her Catholic beliefs-clear evidence of blind-sighted brainwashing from Nparents.

I'll initial it F for her name and T for mine: (I put evidence in all caps) T: and Catholics are guilty of religious persecution/killing as much as the other religions out there

F: same with the violence thing. Read the Catechism. We are not supposed to kill. Ppl who do are not following the true teaching of the Church.

T: Wait, Catholicism is all about eating Jesus...

F: Yes, we do eat Jesus. I'm not sure that I understand your concern there-what are you asking with that?

T: oh, bc you said that the religion's against killing.

F: We aren't killing Jesus whenever we eat Him. He died once thousands of years ago; we don't re-kill Him everytime we go to Mass.

T: so how is that unimaginary? His dead body'da been eaten up long ago.

F: do you believe that things can change properties? I.e. that water can turn into ice, that a hamburger can be eaten and become a part of our body so that it no longer resembles a hamburger in anyway?

F: that's what we believe as Catholics. That though it was a piece of bread before, that, through the priest, the piece of bread changes into Jesus' body.

F: It's really hard to make sense of this teaching without first believing that Jesus was real. Once you believe that He is real, then you HAVE TO learn about what He taught, and then to HAVE TO pray for faith so that you can believe what He taught.

(This is my favorite part) F: Kind of like a LITTLE KID. First they HAVE TO believe that their DAD is real (which they don't normally doubt), then they HAVE TO believe what their DAD says (like when their DAD tells them the earth is round-they can't see it, but they trust their DAD).

T: so if Jesus told you to jump off a bridge would you do it?

F: ABSOLUTELY. But I'd make absolutely certain that it truly was Jesus telling me that, and not something that my own mind had created.

She was the GC, and treated better than the rest in a family of 6, but still got smacked for asking reasonable questions about the Catholic faith. In her own words, to question it is to "fall off a cliff". She always believes the lies my Nparents feed her, like how "they love us, they just don't know how to express it". If you tell her you like her shirt she changes out and gives it to you. She became a dentist because dentist daddy demanded her to. She has the worst martyr complex I've ever seen. After a rough day at work, sick with 106 degree fever, she mowed their lawn, washed their dishes and cooked for them
