A list of puns related to "Chamath Palihapitiya"
βAs a limited investor who has no day-to-day operating functions with the Warriors, Mr. Palihapitiya does not speak on behalf of our franchise, and his views certainly donβt reflect those of our organization.β
Warriors minority owner Chamath Palihapitiya was on the All-In podcast and the topic of the Uyghur genocide came up. He was upfront that he does not care about what is happening to the Uyghurs. He goes on to question whether genocide is even occurring in China.
This subreddit has allowed previous discussions about issues surrounding team owners and comments they've made, so this seemed relevant. I know I would personally not want my team owner expressing disbelief about an on-going genocide.
They even accepted the premise of the severity of these crimes (which is already questionable.Their own source explicitly says "there is no evidence of mass killings" but reddit and Jason Calacanis/Ben Shapiro have EXPLICITLY stated it's "equivalent to a modern day holocaust" like Nazi Germany.)
They only called out how absurd it is to try to compare suffering/evil across countries and how can you anoint Uyghur treatment as the greatest evil in the world.
Friedberg correctly points out how this is motivated by geopolitical tensions with China. Out of all the evils in the world that happen everyday we have an obsession with Uyghurs because China must be defeated.
Chamath correctly points out how crazy it is to have all this attention focused on a small group of people in a desert in China when we are facing multiple domestic crises. We must clean up our own backyard before lecturing others on how to run their country.
Big props and respect to them, but I knew as soon as I heard them speak they were going to be crucified.
Of course the entire media landscape and legions of angry white guys came out of the woodwork and are trying to get them cancelled. Most of the hate is directed at Chamath.
The person they are arguing with, Jason Calacanis, is your quintessential redditor. He is not smart and is only mildly successful mostly through luck - being at the right place at the right time with the right people. He luckily got an asian wife because he's white(he's short, not attractive). Despite having an asian wife and being "liberal", he clearly has disdain for Asian men as evident through all his interactions with them and him talking about how china must be destroyed every 2 minutes.
Calacanis is a living stereotype.
REFLECTION:
It actually makes me hopeful that SOME smart non-Asian/non-Chinese people can see through the brainwashing and bullshit Western media is shoving down everyones' throats. Of course, we are still decades away from this reaching the Overton window.
But when it does it will be paradigm shifting. The bigger they come, the harder they fall. Western media (specifically the USA, UK, and Australia), redditors, Jason Calacanis, Ben Shapiro, and all self-righteous ideologues will be exposed as fallible

In this video, Chamath Palihapitiya predicts that traditional payments companies like Visa and Stripe will lose market share starting this year.
He thinks 2022 is the year that "well thought-out web3 crypto projects that are rebuilding payments infrastructure in a decentralized way" will swiftly gain momentum.
He cites the fact that Amazon is not accepting Visa payments in the UK anymore and says Amazon won't do something like that unless it's a test of something they might implement globally.
He says there is no reason so many companies today should be relying on payment rails like Visa that charge a 3% fee. He goes on to say that crypto projects focusing on developing markets like Nigera are exciting to him.
Chamath says we will look back in 10 years at legacy payment rails vs crypto payment rails and that it will have looked like a "no-brainer" [in hindsight]. He mentions "fees" several times as the reason he thinks traditional payment rails won't survive.
Nano is never mentioned in this video specifically, and there's many different payment-focused crypto projects. But of course a lot of us feel like nano has the biggest potential in the payments market, which is why we're here!

Just prior to Christmas, Chamath confirmed that he is a shareholder of SpaceX. This is interesting as heβs chairman of Virgin Galactic and a major shareholder of Virgin Galactic as well.
Heβs friends with Elon Musk as well and has done deals with him. Virgin Galactic signed the NASA space agreement in 2020 to procure flights to the ISS (likely on SpaceX rockets).
Could Chamath be using his connections with Elon Musk to work out a joint venture with SpaceX to help build the Delta Class?

In the most recent All In podcast - 23:00 in Chamath our chairman revealed that he is now a shareholder in SpaceX. It is also revealed how passionate he is about human space flight.
Why is this important?
Itβs important because there (before this reveal) a significant risk that Chamath would sell his remaining shares and no longer be chairman. Given his recent comments, I now believe that risk is off the table.
In addition, it shows that a possible partnership or collaboration between SpaceX and Virgin Galactic is possible given how he is a major shareholder in both companies.
Back in 2020 Virgin Galactic signed the NASA agreement which states that Virgin Galactic would procure flights to the ISS, perhaps this will finally come into fruition? With a SpaceX Falcon9?

I saw this come across my Schwab newsfeed and it was filed by Chamath on 12/30. So I looked up what this form actually meant and found this:
"13G filings, created by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Act of 1934, are intended to alert investors that big traders are acquiring a stock. ... By acquiring 5% or more of a stock, a 13G investor may be signaling that a stock is a good value that won't be cheap for long."
This gave me a bullish tingly feeling.
Do I dare hope that something might be imminent? ;)

I have been looking like crazy for this Chamath video from 2018/19 where he was on CNBC. The market was not looking good and they asked something like βare you buying at these prices?β and he answered something like βweβve been buying since the price started going down.β And the interviewer was a little surprised and asked βyouβre buying all the way down??β And Chamath responded βAll the way down. All the way down.β And I think thatβs how the interview ended.
I really love that clip and his sentiment and conviction. If anyone finds that video, damn I would love to see it again.
βAll the way down. All the way down.β
