A list of puns related to "Chad Pennington"
Well got bored today and thought I'd look up some early 2000 stats. Looking at Chad Pennington, I remember him always playing very well but he was at a time, a borderline top 8-10 QB
#2002 (First season starting after sitting behind Vinny T)
In his first season Pennington Finished:
1st in completion %
1st in TD%
2nd in INT%
2nd in AY/A
14th in Y/C
1st in Rating
3rd in NY/A
2nd in ANY/A
As you can see he was deadly efficient in his first year starting. The Jets would go 8-4 with Pennington starting and 1-1 in the playoffs absolutely destroying the Colts.
#2003
In 2003 Pennington only started 9 games but even though he had a slump year he still finished:
5th in Com %
12th in TD%
23rd in INT%
14th in AY/A
19th in Y/C
11th in Rating
14th in NY/A
16th in ANY/A
Clearly his second season starting had a huge drop off but injuries could factor in too. Pennington finished second season 4-5
#2004
In Pennington's third season starting, he had yet to play all 16 games but he did play all by 3 in 04'. He finished:
8th in Com%
17th in TD%
8th in INT%
14th in AY/A
24th in Y/C
11th in Rating
12th in NY/A
12th in ANY/A
This was a much better season than his second. He was able finish borderline top 10 in almost every advanced metric. He ended 04' with an 8-5 record.
#2005
Pennington ended up only starting three games this season and this is where injuries really started catching up with him. With only three starts he finished 1-2 in his fourth season starting.
#2006
FINALLY after never starting all 16 games, in 06' he had his first season starting all 16 games! He finished:
4th in Com%
19th in TD%
16th in INT%
14th in AY/A
26th in Y/C
13th in Rating
7th in QBR (First season)
13th in NY/A
13th in ANY/A
Clearly injuries had added up and Pennington wasn't taking many shots but he was still pretty efficient. He finished the season with a 10-6 record and make his second playoff appearance. It unfortunately ended in disappointing as the Jets lost 37-16 to the Patriots.
#2007
This is the end of Pennington's career in New York and it ended poorly to say the least... He finished
2nd in Com %
18th in TD%
19th in INT%
18th in AY/A
32nd in Y/C
15th in Rating
25th in QBR
24th in NY/A
21st in ANY/A
This was by far the worst season during his Jets tenure. Pennington finished with a 1-7 record
#2008
With a fresh start in Miami and his finally season starting, Pennington won comeback player of the year and his second

Chad Pennington won in 2006 and 2008 and Paul Lowe won in 1963 and 1965
Funny enough ,both players won within a two year stretch of the last time they won.
Important Note: In the two years Paul Lowe won, two players won the award.
Another Note: Chad Pennington won with both the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins

No draft since realignment has produced a QB who could win the AFC East.
From a few years back
The Jets had a solid 2000 draft - and one of those picks was #17, Chad Pennington, who in 2002 led the Jets on a 7-2 run, throwing 22 TDs in 12 starts in the last half of the season to claim the 2002 AFC East title at 9-7. The Jets beat out both the Pats and the Dolphins, who were also at 9-7. This is the only time Brady has started for the Pats and won less than ten games or lost the AFC East division title. Since then, the AFC East outside of Brady hasn't been that good at QB - with the likes of the Sanchize, those QBs the Bills drafted, and Ryan Tannehill filling the halls of AFC East QB mediocrity. Hopefully that will change now that the 2018 draft class is now signal calling for the AFC East.
Pennington was legit - he led the Jets to several play off runs and held the completion percentage record until 2014 - but he was constantly injured. His career ended after a start for the Dolphins in November 2010, when he injured his shoulder on the first play. He ended up having four shoulder surgeries and managed to tear his ACL playing pick up basketball a year later, after which he retired permanently. After his 2002 season, he was genuinely talked up as a potential rival for Brady, only to for his shoulder to betray him. The Jets weren't half bad in the 00s - Chad Pennington just didn't have a shoulder. He only started two full 16 game seasons, both of which ended with playoff losses.
If Pennington wasn't so injury prone, is the AFC East more competitive? Do we have a legendary rivalry between the Jets, the Pats, and their quarterbacks? Or is the Pats winning the AFC east division title still more of a formality than a real competition? Does Brady still win six Super Bowls?
I read somewhere that he finished 2nd in the MVP voting to PFM.
I know he played for the Jets , but how good was he really
The last starting QB drafted by the Bills to win the AFC East was Jim Kelly, who was drafted in 1983. The last starting QB drafted by the Dolphins to win the AFC East was Dan Marino, who was also drafted in 1983.The last starting QB drafted by the Jets to win the AFC East was Chad Pennington, who won it in 2002.
The Dolphins have won the AFC East twice this century, both with QBs they didn't draft - Jay Fiedler who was an UDFA in 1994 and later signed by the Dolphins in 2000, and Chad Pennington, who won the AFC East in 2008.
The Jets have won it once this century, again, led by Chad Pennington in 2002.
Neither Miami nor Buffalo drafted a QB in 2000.
The Bills have not won the AFC East since 1995. They have the third longest division title drought, behind the Lions and the Browns. The Jets are fourth equal with the Raiders, and the Miami Dolphins have gone 11 years without the division, the longest streak in team history. Coincidentally, all AFC East teams drafted a QB in 1983. The only one to not win a division title was Ken O'Brien for the Jets, and John Elway never won the East. Both Kelly and Marino retired after post-season losses to the Jaguars.

Unlike most high schools in the United States, mine did not have a football program for a long time. After a lack of support, it was shut down in the 1970's. Immediately, nobody missed it. The team had been terrible for a while (though we did win our last game). It became a bit of a running joke throughout the student body. At one point, we made shirts with "Undefeated since 78" on it. And that seemed to be it. We're a private school, so nobody is requiring us to offer any sports. The faculty didn't want it. The students didn't want it. Football at my school was dead. Until 2018. Enter Chad Pennington. After retiring, he moved pretty close to the city I live in. His kids went to our rival middle school, where surprisingly, they were pretty bad at football. However, they still wanted to play in high school. They weren't good enough to play at any public school, or even the other christian and catholic schools around. There was still our school, with no football program. So Chad got to work. A while back, one of my friends who has a parent on the faculty told me about this new development. I immediately leaked it to the student body, and the issue was brought up with our head of school. He refused to confirm this rumor, making it a bit awkward when none other than Chad Pennington rolled into school claiming we were going to be champions in no time. If that start wasn't bad enough, the first interest meeting garnered more girls wanting to be cheerleaders than guys wanting to play. The more the team seemed to get talked about, the less it seemed to matter. We would bring it up in class and laugh about how ridiculous it was with our teachers. All of a sudden, those teachers stopped responding to our jokes. We originally thought they just got sick of them, but later I found out our head of school threatened that any teacher speaking ill of the team would be fired instantly. The next year, three longtime teachers left with no warning. When we got back from school, we got to witness the beauty that was Chad Pennington football. Our season opener was slated against an already mediocre to bad JV team. "Coach Pennington" had promised to play only 8-10th graders. Seeing this, they expected an easy win. Who knows why, but when they got to the game, we decided to play everyone on the team. That means 12th graders hitting 8th graders as hard as they can and then celebrating. We beat them by 15. They announced that they would be remodeling our varsity locker room. At

Summary--
Chad was the 4th QB we picked in the 1st round (Namath, Todd, O'Brien) and he was a highly rated passer out of Marshall. His accuracy was something scouts drooled over and he was set up to succeed an aging Vinny Testaverde. Chad emerged as the Jets' starting quarterback after filling in for Vinny during the fifth game of the 2002 season. Pennington helped reverse the Jets' fortunes by leading the 1β4 team to an eventual 9β7 record and an AFC East division championship. Despite playing less than a full season, Pennington threw for 3,120 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. His 104.2 quarterback rating set a team record. Pennington led the Jets to a first round 41β0 win over the Indianapolis Colts in that season's playoffs. How promising. How wonderful. In the fourth 2003 pre-season game against the New York Giants, Pennington endured a fracture-dislocation on his left (non-throwing) hand. The injury forced him to miss the first six games of the season. Due to the severity of the injury, and a rushed rehab process, Pennington's wrist would never be the same, and his once outstanding play-fake became thoroughly ordinary. In the 2004 season, the Jets signed Pennington to a team-record contract for seven years and $64.2 million and Pennington led the Jets to a 5β0 record. However, during a Week 9 game against the Buffalo Bills, Pennington injured his rotator cuff and subsequently missed three games. Chad's shoulder would never be the same. Despite the mid-season struggles, we made the playoffs and advanced to play the Steelers in the divisional game. Then Doug Brien happened and we don't need to re-hash that. Fucking Doug Brien...... The 2007 season was a tumultuous one for Pennington. In the firs
