TEAR GAS: there are many varieties of tear gas but the most common and potent is called CS gas. it's crystalline and glimmers in the light like tiny fiberglass shards. the solid pellet inside gas grenades is melted and dispersed, looking like a white powdery mist that drifts in every goddamn direction and will stick to absolutely any surface, ESPECIALLY your clothes. a TIGHT FITTING MASK, preferably while wearing a hood of some sort, can block out 75% of this stuff, though it will still affect your eyes: DON'T RUB YOUR EYES because that shit is probably on your hands and it's DEFINITELY already on your face (it sticks to sweat and you're just gonna smear it around) GET SOMEWHERE UPWIND and use COOL CLEAN WATER to rinse your your hands and face. DO NOT USE anything other than CLEAR WATER. the effects of light exposure to CS gas are minimal and pass quickly. heavy exposure may need 20 or more minutes to recover from. remove any contaminated clothing and seal them in a trash bag to avoid contaminating others
PEPPER SPRAY: think of tear gas as the long-range, low-effect riot control agent. pepper spray is the SHORT-RANGE, HIGH-EFFECT riot control agent. the best solution is to ABSOLUTELY AVOID BEING HIT WITH THIS SHIT. i cannot stress that enough. it's like having satan cum in your eyes. PEPPER SPRAY WILL END YOUR WHOLE FUCKING DAY. the aerosolized capsicum oil, much like CS gas, will get on absolutely everything, ESPECIALLY your clothes. but there's two things you can do
#1 WEAR. FUCKING. GOGGLES. look at the protests in Hong Kong. simple lab goggles or even snorkeling masks can work. you WANT TO TOTALLY PROTECT your eyes and NOSE if possible. i cannot stress this enough. AVOID letting pepper spray hit your eyes directly. PLAS

I have had a look around online but I cannot find any information published within this decade, what regiment handles CBRNE defense? E.g. the clean-up in Salisbury after the spy poisoning, or anything else related. I've read on Arrse the RAF regiment took over CBRN related duties from the Army, but no idea when they're joking or being serious.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Over the past two years, many Guardsmen have gotten sick of the constant SAD and competing requirements from their state and the NGB. For those in the Guard, from your internal perspective, how would you feel about an internal reorganization that better separates state and federal functions?
My initial conception is to have a core unit (differently sized depending on the size of the state) that cannot be federalized except by order of Congress at the President's recommendation. Any excess from this would be available for both federal and state missions like the current Guard structure, and in the long run the excess may be re-aligned to combat support and combat service support (yes I know that's old doctrine) roles that are equally important to both the state and federal government, and the Reserve taking on some combat arms again to keep the overall balance the same.
Core capabilities that would need to be in this difficult-to-federalize Guard unit (regardless of size) (note some may be in the Air National Guard instead of the Army National Guard):
- Honor Guard/Ceremonial Unit
- Airfield Operations/Rapid Repair
- CBRN Decontamination
- EOD
- Non-Tactical Bridging
- Debris Clearance/Emergency Road Repair
- Emergency Liason (state patrol, state emergency management agency, regional Reserve RD)
- Riot Control
- Internal Defense
- Water Purification
- Transportation
- Camp Garrison (for state's NG facilities)
- Field Medical Support (ER & Ambulance)
- Field Maintenance/Recovery
- Petroleum Distribution
- Civil Affairs
- Field Signal Support
For the smallest state (think Rhode Island or Wyoming), the force structure may look something like this (garrision, ceremonial, airfield, and liason personnel not in this structure):
- Battalion HHC
- Forward Support Company (addition - water purification platoon)
- Civil Affairs Team
- Emergency Medical Detachment (ER section, ambulance section)
- Combined Arms Company (Military Police PLT, Cavalry PLT (Mech.), Combat Engineer PLT (Light))
- Engineer Support Company (Horizontal PLT, Bridge PLT, Support PLT)
- CBRNE Detachment (EOD section, CBRN section)
For a large state (think Texas or California), the force structure may look like this:
- Brigade HHC
- Civil Affairs Team
- Combined Arms Battalion HHC
- Forward Support Company
- Military Police Company x2
- Infantry Company (Light)
- Cavalry Troop (Mechanized)
- Support Battalion HHC

His grin only widened when the agent seemed to throw a minor temper tantrum before they got into their vehicle again, and the miniature convoy awkwardly backed out to leave. All the while followed by that flying thing.
Almon walked up to his tiny booth and knocked on the door. Sawyer stood up to let him in, surprised that he wouldn’t just talk through the window.
“Hello Doctor, sorry to make you come out here in this cold.”
“No need to apologize, I’m surprised that you aren’t frozen.” Almon said, looking down at the parts to the heater on the floor.
“Mmm, yeah, that thing kicked the bucket a day and a half ago, I’ve been trying to get it fixed since.” Sawyer responded.
“Well, I’d like to say sorry about that whole thing. I should’ve been out here soon, except there was a… security issue.”
“What kind of issue?”
“Ah, well, you know that we are short staffed…”
“And?”
“Let’s just say they had a long shift, and they were asleep before their head hit the desk. I’ll give you a day and a half off to make up for this.”
“I want a raise, and a permanent heating system.”
“We can discuss that on the way back, your replacement is here.”

I just recently played Dayz SA for the first time in 5 years, I remember the setting having a goal in mind, centered around the fact its "Chernarus" and that Chernarus is canonically a Czech culture like soviet breakaway state, the main weapons military-wise were .380(a popular czech caliber in the Soviet era), AK74s and AKMs drawing from the fact they were a soviet state, and a wide variety of Czech and Russian civilian firearms, while the army themselves used Russian TTsKO camo uniforms, and a special unit in a certain region used gorkas.
I expected eventually we'd see stuff like CDF body armor, TTSKO helmets, CHDKZ and NAPA camo equipment, maybe some Arma 2 based Marine equipment like Pasgt helmets, MTV vests, m16a4s...but I'm surprised to see when I come back that they simply just dropped any sort of setting to conform to, half the Civilian guns are gone, they haven't expanded the CDF arsenal or tried to use any of the rich lore of the EXISTING Arma 2 setting to add NAPA or CHDKZ themed clothing. There's not even actual UN equipment, all we have still is a simple helmet and beret. All I find arsenal side is M16a2s(that's okay), FAMAS', 9x39 guns and a bunch of stuff that rightfully doesn't fit Chernarus has been added.
Remember this key fact, the Setting of Chernarus at the start of the apoc is 2011 Chernarus, shortly after the insurgency ends and there's still a USMC attachment in the country and the Russians just pulled out of the North of the country.
Why the S10 either, neither of the forces in country use it, the Russians, the Marines or the Chernarussian Defense Force, we already have the GP5 and Czech m10 which fits the CDF, but doesn't even fit the CBRN suits mesh wise. The forces in country suggest it should be an M40 or a PMK gas mask, but it isn't.
I find the fact the GORKA units aren't gorka(yes I know its not named after the location ingame, but they're way too prevalent) only now quite off putting, when 5/7 military zombies use them.
They seem to simply just add misc stuff and not even focus on the non fleshed out areas like the Local military's equipment or anything like that
I hope this doesn't just seem like a rant. I'm curious what others think of the state of the Chernarus setting in Dayz SA.

For some context, in my world, zombies have risen up and taken over much of the world after a Chinese-North Korean biological weapons test goes horribly wrong in 2025. Within a year, half of the world population has been zombified by this virus and few nations have survived.
During what became known as The Collapse, the president, with support from the Speaker of the House and Chief Justice, signed off on Directive 39, activating the Strategic Civil Defense Division/SCDD (commonly referred to as “the Division” (yes, very obvious reference to Tom Clancy’s The Division)), a secret clandestine independent paramilitary government agency like the CIA that operates strictly on American soil in times of great sorrow.
HISTORY
The Strategic Civil Defense Division was originally conceived by President Dwight D. Eisenhower due to his experience during WWII, with the Pearl Harbor being what inspired him as president to form the Strategic Civil Defense Division. The SCDD would finally be officially formed by President John F. Kennedy in early 1962 in anticipation of potential hostile Soviet military actions within the Western Hemisphere that could threaten the American homeland which would necessitate certain citizens with specialized skills to assist local, state, and federal authorities in maintaining order, providing humanitarian aid, etc. while also fighting back against potential armed and hostile parties who may take advantage of such a crisis. SCDD agents would only be activated should a true national catastrophic crisis occur where the authorities and officials at all levels of government are expected to require support.
The very first agents of the Division were recruited from the FBI, CIA, and elite units of the military. The first generation of agents, being only 100-strong, were immediately activated and posted to strategic locations across the country in response to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Over time, the Division would work out the kinks within itself and pass reforms to make itself a better organization, such as expanding and diversifying its target occupations to include the medical field, trade jobs, etc. instead of restricting its target occupations to include those with military and law enforcement experience.
The next time that SCDD agents would be activated was during 9/11 when President George W. Bush ordered
