A list of puns related to "Carl Eller"
I know this is the Capitals projected lineup and could/maybe shuffled around, but is this one of the best 3rd strings in the NHL?
You have Hagelin who's a fast skater, Eller who is easily a #2C except Edmonton and Kovy with that wicked release/hands.
Really hope holtby can get his game together or Samsonov can steal the show cause I would hate to play against this team in NHL 20.

3 - Darrell Thompson (RB) - Thompson is the leading rusher (4,518 yards) and #1 in rushing touchdowns (40) in Gopher history. He was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and first team All-Big Ten in 1986 and second team All-Big Ten in 1987 and 1989. He was drafted in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. In 1997, he was elected into the Gophers Hall of Fame.
6 - Carl Eller (DL) - Eller was part of the 1962 Rose Bowl team. He became a full-time two-way player, earning All-American honors twice. Currently, the Gophers' Defensive Player of the Year award is named after him. Eller was drafted in the first round of the 1964 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings where he had an extremely successful career playing along the defensive line known as the 'Purple People Eaters'. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
I've been wondering for a while what is going on at that plot near Bojangles, apparently it's where Mars Hill Motors is relocating to. I believe the address is 631 Carl Eller Road.
I also heard that AutoZone will be moving into the current Mars Hill Motors location.
I've never met a viking or anyone famous for that matter before (besides an autograph signing with Trenton Hassel in 04). I'm ashamed to say I didn't recognize him til my boss pointed it out and got a menu signed for the restaurant.
He was super nice and seemed young for his age, it was pretty cool to meet a viking legend and now I wanna research the history of the team more.
Idk if this deserves it's own post but it was pretty neat.

2 - Bronko Nagurski (FB/DT) - Nagurski moved to International Falls as a child, where he was discovered by head coach Clarence Spears. In 1929, he was named first team All-American at both fullback and tackle - he is the only player to be named All-American at two different positions. He played professionally for the Chicago Bears, where he was a three time NFL champion. His number is retired by the Gophers and he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is awarded to college football's best defensive player. The Gophers also have a Bronko Nagurski Award for the team MVP.

11 - Paul Giel (RB) - Giel was a tailback for the Gophers from 1951-1953. He rushed for 2,188 yards and passed for 1,922 yards over his collegiate career. The Winona native received multiple awards throughout his years with the Gophers including first team All-Big Ten (1951-1953), first team All-American (1952-1953), Big Ten Player of the Year (1952-1953), and UPI Player of the Year (1953). Giel nearly won the Heisman Trophy in 1953, but was beat out by Notre Dame's Johnny Lattner. Giel has the most votes of any player in history to not win the Heisman. He was also an All-American pitcher for the Gophers, later playing in the MLB for multiple teams (including the Minnesota Twins). After his retirement from baseball, Giel was a color commentator on Minnesota Vikings radio broadcasts and served as the Gophers' Athletic Director. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1975.
