As tensions rose with the Carolinan Republic, the Ecclesiastical Congress were alerted with another news; from the west, this time. The Imperial diplomats and spies to the High Sovereignate had reported the full collapse of the state, after an unknown civil unrest led to the overthrow of the High Queen. The Emperor commented about their isolationism leading to the their own demise.
Naturally, this news would've been another simple headline in the newspapers, if not for the single correct report by the Imperial Cartographic Society. The northern swamps of Belle-Île-en-Mer, the home island of the High Sovereignate, were recorded to be rich peatland, and a potential solution to the Empire's incessant fuel shortage. The Emperor and the Congress both knew the importance of the region, and for the final time, the Imperial Guards were called once more to service and secure the region for the Empire.
Reports from the Imperial Guard's scouts showed the region in high chaos, as banditry is rampant and anarchy is widespread. The stratified society of the High Sovereignate led to some civilians grouping together, but they maintained hostility for one another. Seizing the opportunity, the Imperial Guards moved in, exploiting the lack of central authority and secured the region for immediate Imperial annexation.
