A list of puns related to "Canadian Pacific Airlines"
President Grant McConachie today announced Canadian Pacific Airways acquisition of Trans Canada Airways' Pacific rights. Minister of Transportation Howe described the measure as satisfying Canada's interest in a Pacific service while limiting the expected losses and allowing Trans-Canada Airlines to move toward a profit making basis. Canadian Pacific will meanwhile leverage their experience in trans-pacific shipping.
Trans Canada Airways will continue as Canada's national airline, however CPA and other private operators will now be permitted access to routes not operated by TCA and granted limited rights to operate connecting services for through passengers. Domestic competition will be permitted when and where it can be shown the market is well developed enough for multiple operators.
Several Canadair North Star's have been leased from TCA for route proving flights to begin immediately, while delivery of 12 units to CPA has been advanced with commercial services to Honolulu, Auckland, Sydney, Anchorage, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore expected to begin this summer.
