So I watch a lot of John Oliver on YouTube. For those of you who don’t know is a political commentator/comedian.
I was watching an episode about why Washington D.C. should get statehood and the complexities behind that. He does elaborate skits about the topic and in this episode he gathered a bunch of kids who were actors and sang a funny song , it was sort of explicit but no curse words saying “let them have gun laws, let them have weed, let them have all the things that they will need” I saw one of the kids there and I noticed that it was Caleb McLaughlin from stranger things.
I was shocked because I’ve rewatched every John Oliver episode plenty times and I’ve never noticed. I posted a video to snapchat closing up on his face saying “it’s the kid from stranger things no way!!” Because I kind of thought that was cool. I like stranger things and I watch it with my family a lot.
Someone dmed me 10 minutes later berating me saying “didn’t you talk about blm and bernie sanders? 😂 if this ain’t the most racist shit I’ve ever seen” and going off on me. Calling me all bunch of names and telling me hes telling everyone he knows about this and that I’m racist, now me and him are both white. I explained it to him because not everyone knows who John Oliver is. I also wouldn’t say it’s the kid from stranger things if I didn’t actually think it was. Because it was, I looked at his IMDb page before I posted it, and another google result was a tweet from Caleb in 2015 saying join me tonight on John Oliver
Was it racist? If it was I will take it down but I’m just really confused now and I feel guilty and bad. I didn’t think it was.
Okay, I knooow, casting Stranger Things actors is not very original cause it's like THE show with teenagers, and this casting has probably been done before, but I mean, he can look the age, he plays the age in ST, and he's got some pretty good acting experience! And I don't know about you but he looks pretty Carter~y to me, I mean:
