Dark Dream: Great for people who love rich chocolate + are always complaining about everything milk chocolate. haha Filled with semisweet chocolate and is very rich and chewy. Favorite cookie of the week.
S'mores: Wish it had more of a graham cracker taste to it. Good cookie though. Felt like a slightly elevated milk chocolate chip cookie. If you like their milk chocolate cookie, you'd like this one.
Carrot Cake: Didn't taste anything like carrot cake to me. Although I actually enjoyed the cookie. Tasted more like the base of the dulce de leche cookie from last week, kind of bland with a hint of cinnamon. It had a good texture. The frosting really carried this cookie for me. Solid rich cream cheese frosting.
Apple Pie: TOTAL LETDOWN. Apple is my favorite pie so I was excited for this one. Tastes like an apple cinnamon Nutri grain bar that I feed my 9 month old for breakfast. Cookie itself was dry and the apple pie filling is just canned pie filling so nothing special there. Hard pass on this one. Trust me, if you want apple pie, just go to McDonalds and get a little apple pie for $1. Those are much better. haha

The title says it all
I follow Parker pretty religiously and pretty much always post when there's information about one of his upcoming books.
I saw recently that a description had been posted on publisher and seller sites for A Practical Guide to Conquering the World, the concluding book in his "Siege Trilogy":
This is the true story of Aemilius Felix Boioannes the younger, the intended and unintended consequences of his life, the bad stuff he did on purpose, and the good stuff that happened in spite of him.
It is, in other words, the tale of a war to end all wars, and the man responsible.
I also saw just now that a Publisher's Weekly review had been posted with some major plot spoilers.
Non-spoilery details are that Felix is a naΓ―ve and well-meaning (always a bad sign in Parkerworld) Robur character who starts out living at the Echmen court. Also, the book involves Parker's perennial feuding barbarian tribes and the founding a religion plot that has shown up in various of his novels and stories.
From the review, it sounds entertaining as Felix has a scheming side (I wonder if he's somewhat like one of the mains of Savages, who is a hapless pacifist turned surprisingly successful war profiteer and schemer).
As a quibble, although it makes sense as a theme for this particular series, I do find that Parker >!uses genocide as a plotline too often and too casually!<, so I kind of rolled my eyes >!at the mention of the Robur being wiped out (I guess for real this time) as well as the Hus!<. And relatedly, although the Publisher's Weekly review makes the book sound fun, I'm kind of anticipating a harrowing downer ending like the Two of Swords series.
