I was checking out at the grocery store today and the bagger was holding my stuff over the shopping cart and asked: “sir, would you like to go out with the cart?”. To which I replied “oh, no thanks I’m actually married”. My poor son looked mortified. Dad joke status ACHIEVED.

Pulled Pork topped with Memphis-style cole slaw, drizzled with BBQ sauce, and sandwiched between a buttery, toasted bun
Medium rare, course mustard-mayo, rucola, tomato, grilled white union, bacon, young gouda and toasted sesame bun. Made a salad with the leftover greens and sauce. Hope you like it!

Amazing (and easy) Sandwich Buns
I decided to make some sandwich buns for free-range foraging since there's more meals to prepare, but no one wants a formal sit-down meal three times a day.
I made some Sandwich Buns.
They are so good.
Cost is about 15 cents each.
They don't look like the picture. They are like the sandwich buns at Schlotskys. A bit rustic and chewy, but so so good. Perfect for whatever sandwich filling you choose. Like leftover chicken with a little BBQ sauce, or beef with a bit of horseradish.
Makes 8 3-inch buns.
It takes about 4 hours to make them, but it's just 15 minutes of work, then wait, then 15 minutes work, then wait. No problem when you're home anyway.
Tips:
- Leave off the last layer of melted butter. It's not necessary, and makes the buns a bit greasy.
- I didn't have instant yeast, so I mixed the lukewarm water, sugar and yeast in the bowl first. Let bubble while I measured the rest of the ingredients.
- I made it with the full 1/4-cup sugar, but I think next time I'll cut that in half. You can definitely taste the sugar.
- They keep fresh a bit longer than homemade bread, so they should be just fine if you meal prep for the week.
- When letting the dough rise, I preheated the oven at the lowest temp (140) while I was mixing/kneading. Turn the oven off, pop the dough in, leave door cracked. About 30 minutes later, shut the oven door.
- After the rise, I turned the dough out on a sheet of parchment paper on my baking sheet. Punched it down, divided, and formed the rolls right on the parchment paper. Then popped the whole thing into the oven for the next rise. Then baked.
My girlfriend and I have been missing KFC, tonight I decided to overtake the colonel, with buttermilk soaked 11 herbs and spices fried chicken thighs, rustic shoestring French fries, pepper mayonnaise, and GF brioche buns. The best overall fried chicken I’ve ever eaten.

edit: She does basically say to eat less rice and more meat. Sorry if 'substitute meat for rice' makes it sound like the opposite. I'm super pumped to see this - I've followed Tracey on Twitter for a while but she never posts much about low carb diets or gone beyond hinting about them. This is a pretty stark departure from that conservative stance.

I think the ADA does a really bad job of actually talking about low carb diets - they don't even mention that carbs are unnecessary. The good thing is I found a way to send them a recommendation to update their website. Well - if their CEO is talking about low carb diets - why aren't they?

Not a true hair victory day. I just had to chop my beard off to wear mask at work. And I'm just really happy to have my hair still. So that's victory enough. This is it after being in a bun all day. Still has a little curl and wave.

Hot crossed buns! My daughter (14) has been tending a sourdough starter for two weeks. Today she finally was able to make her first batch of sourdough buns. She did it all from start to finish, they are really good and I’m very proud of her.

I am a female, but I still dislike how acceptable it is to make jokes about small penises or degrade other people by saying "they must be compensating" and what not. I think it's harmful and should be just as frowned upon as other types of body shaming.

Need help - this is my current routine but I’m gaining body fat and maintaining/losing muscle mass. Any advice? I eat 5 egg whites, 3 yolks and a piece of whole wheat toast for both breakfast and lunch. I drink muscle milk and have lean sirloin hamburger with gluten free buns for dinner usually.
