2 - Bronko Nagurski (FB/DT) - Nagurski moved to International Falls as a child, where he was discovered by head coach Clarence Spears. In 1929, he was named first team All-American at both fullback and tackle - he is the only player to be named All-American at two different positions. He played professionally for the Chicago Bears, where he was a three time NFL champion. His number is retired by the Gophers and he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is awarded to college football's best defensive player. The Gophers also have a Bronko Nagurski Award for the team MVP.
6 - Carl Eller (DL) - Eller was part of the 1962 Rose Bowl team. He became a full-time two-way player, earning All-American honors twice. Currently, the Gophers' Defensive Player of the Year award is named after him. Eller was drafted in the first round of the 1964 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings where he had an extremely successful career playing along the defensive line known as the 'Purple People Eaters'. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

10 - Bud Grant (End) - Grant was a three sport athlete for the Gophers, playing football, basketball, and baseball, earning first team All-Big Ten twice in football. Grant was selected in the first round of the 1950 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles and the fourth round of the 1950 NBA Draft by the Minneapolis Lakers. He decided to play for the Lakers for two years before switching to football and playing for the Eagles. Grant later played in the CFL, coached in the CFL, and eventually coached the Minnesota Vikings from 1967-1983 (and then again in 1985), where he led the Vikings to four Super Bowl appearances. He was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994.

1 - Bruce Smith (RB) - Smith was the halfback for the the back-to-back national champion Gophers in 1940 and 1941 and is the only Heisman Trophy winner in Gopher history (1941). On top of that, he earned second team All-Big Ten in 1940 and first team All-Big Ten and consensus All-American honors in 1941. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1972 and his number was the first to be retired by the university. After playing for the Gophers, Smith served as a U.S. Navy fighter pilot during World War II before playing for the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams.

15 - Chip Lohmiller (K) - Lohmiller made the game-winning field goal to defeat the No. 2 ranked Michigan as a junior to bring home the Little Brown Jug. The next week, he set a Gopher record for longest field goal right before halftime when he kicked a 62-yard field goal with no time left on the clock. Lohmiller was named first team All-Big Ten in 1986 and second team in 1987. The Woodbury native was then drafted by Washington in the fifth round of the 1988 NFL Draft, where he was named All-Pro in 1991 and won a Super Bowl in 1992.
