In real life, in certain parts of the world, there is also lots of snow at this time of year. Or even at all times of the year, depending on the location. You may have noticed this too.

Perhaps these connections will be of some interest to the various adults who visit this website and enjoy Hollywood movies that are targeted to their age group, and that also happen to have a connection to the current calendar date and weather conditions.

I don’t want to spoil the movie so here is a very limited bit from the Wikipedia page. This just gives you an idea of the premise:

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

The Kansas City Monarchs Baseball Club - 1929

In 1928, we lost in the World Series. The team was put together without us, so this offseason prior to 1929 is our first chance to really put our stamp on this team. But we have a lot of limitations. You can read about those limitations, as well as our 1928 season in full, to catch up on the first year of our journey.

The Offseason

Since we didn't make any trades last year, we carry over a trade into the offseason. After our RNG roll, we're allowed to make three free agent signings of 45+ rated players, and can make one trade. As I mentioned in the previous post, we came into the job of GM with a team already assembled for us, and while it worked (we went to the World Series) it wasn't well thought-out from a long-term POV (we were $30M over budget immediately). We have the worst farm system in the entire league, as well.

Let's take our first look at some of our decisions we have to make:

As expected, RP Jimmy Bodeker, our closer who is due over $25M per year over the next three, did not opt out of his deal. This looks to be an obvious guy to move, but I'm not sure how much value, if any, we'll get for him.

We have two pending free agents, our backup catcher who no longer has a role here, and RP Rich Jeffers, a LHP who had a great year for us but wants a raise of nearly $8M. Both will become free agents.

Turning to our arbitration class, we have six players to consider. SS Nick Briscoe, who started 100 games for us in 1928, mostly at SS, is a clear non-tender as he's due around $6M and was worth less than 1 WAR. We non-tender two players and agree with the other four to avoid arbitration.

While we have about $25M in budget room, I'd definitely like to allocate some of that towards out scouting and development budget as they are half of the league baseline at the moment. With some funds available, before we get into free agency, we bump up the budgets a bit, but leave enough to add a low cost free agent or two at $13M.

Right before free agency begins, we learn that SP Merrill Morrison wins the 1928 Pitcher of Year Award, going 9-5 with a 2.96 ERA over 31 GS.

We get to free agency and still have three players making $25M+, and moving MR Jimmy Bodeker is priority number one. We find a partner
