A list of puns related to "Bmt Broadway Line"
How come the N doesnβt skip 49th Street even though itβs express in Manhattan most of the time?
Heading south past 49th street the express track appears to go up and out of sight from the local track. Then reappears coming back down, level with the local track. Why the elevation change?
I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions or ideas for an additional northern branch of the BMT Broadway Line?
I've been looking at the map lately and thinking how a post-Phase-3 SAS replacing the R on the QBL Local and going through the 63th St. Tunnel would make quite a lot of sense, with the R being re-routed onto the Astoria Line.
This would mean, though, that since the T is running down the SAS, you can't be sending two BMT Broadway services down the line.
I've only been able to come up with two ideas for this service.
First is routing it onto the 63rd St. branch then building a new spur up 5th Avenue, cut East at 86th Street with a Park/Lex station and a 2nd/1st station, then head into Astoria and travel under Grand Central Parkway to connect to LGA, with a provision for a further eastern extension (services from the Astoria line could theoretically be connected to this in the future, along with a transfer point at Astoria Blvd).
The other option would be building a spur under Central Park to route the the service under Colombus Avenue (With a transfer at 72nd), then up Morningside (with a Transfer at 125th), with a possible provision for a Bronx extension under University.
I don't know the deployment but I hope it will be soon
BMT 4 Ave line serves D, N, R (and B, Q on DeKalb Ave) and ALL run on local after 22:00
Line between DeKalb Ave and 36 Street is busy and the trains often get "we're delayed because a train is ahead of us" and "we're being held momentarily by train dispatcher" errors
CBTC definitely helps such busy train traffic
Iβm not talking about the old route because the Myrtle Av El no longer exists. What I mean is the stations from Atlantic Av to Canarsie on the L line and then it switches to the Jamaica line and goes to Chambers St or all the way to Broad St. Maybe even on 6 Av?
Without digging a separate tunnel under East River, I think this could boost capacity for a new service to LGA through Metropolitan Avenue. The LGA K will stop only at 8th Avenue and Union Square in Manhattan, and Lorimer St in Brooklyn before proceeding straight under Metropolitan Avenue and then northwards towards LGA.
Phase 3 of SAS would interrupt this balance with the introduction of the turquoise 'T'.
When I take my rides out to Coney Island on B to Sheepshead Bay, I see the express signals on the ground.
Also, 95% of Brighton signals are ground signals on the local and express.
Does anyone agree that Brighton line has most unique signal set up?
I doubt youβre on here butβ¦
Thank you so much for paying for my meal! You made a not so great day bright for me :) Iβm still smiling π
Edit: I was so happy I didnβt even think about paying it forward but next time I come I definitely will!
I've been working in the production side of Broadway for years now (not an actor) and I've worked and seen quite a lot of shows.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when you have multiple actors/actresses sing different lines at the same time on top of each other. It's such an annoying trope that is done to death, and sound tolerable at best, shitty at worst
If you've seen basically any Broadway shows, you know what I'm talking about-- it's that cliche where one Actor A on stage sings a few lines during a song. Actor A stops and Actor B sings a few. B stops, and C does a few. Then they all start singing their own lines simultaneously on top of each other. So three or even more different lines being sung, and the musical is trying to make it seem like a big climactic musical motif, when really it's annoying as fuck.
It drives me up a wall every time I hear it. It doesn't sound good musically. Its a cheap, done to death trope of Broadway Theatre that doesn't sound good, nor have nearly as much impact as it thinks it does.
Despite I've been on Broadway for a while, I've never seen Rent. I just did and it was prime example of this nonsense. My opinions on Rent are a whole other separate rant, but that musical was written like everyone writing was tweaking on coke. It was like a hyperactive kid on the biggest sugar rush that can't stop jumping around, like "Stop, calm down please!"
Anyway, that show was a perfect example. It had at times like half a dozen people all singing at the same time, all different lines. You can't pinpoint a single line to focus on so it all just becomes this bland mush. Overwhelming an audience with too many differing vocals (which don't flow together all that well, mind) isn't a climatic musical motif it's hoping for. And since it seems 99% of shows indulge themselves in this annoying practice, it gets even more stale
. It's obnoxious and a trope that I hope goes away. But if I know anything about Broadway, it's that it sure as shit is reluctant to change
Rant over. Stay hydrated everyone
Just got home from UBC today and the 99 B-Line had to take a detour. It no longer goes to Commercial station, instead it went to VCCβClark.
This may continue tomorrow and for the next 12 days: https://vancouversun.com/news/vancouver-police-arrest-four-after-die-in-blocks-downtown-intersection
So if you're one of the many people who uses the skytrain and 99, you might want to leave earlier tomorrow and plan for disruption. While you're on the bus consuming extra fossil fuel for the detour, you can use the extra time to think about how effective this protest strategy is, and how you are now totally inspired to join their cause.
Lots of people try to take photos of the construction through the wire fence.
A few hooligans are putting themselves in peril trying to get around the fence.
Be safe. This is what it looks like today.
