A list of puns related to "Blair Witch"
Not sure if commonly known, but:
>The actors only had a Power Bar and a banana for each day during the last two days of shooting.
And it shows. The picture isn't pretty: they're yelling and crying constantly and even making poor decisions that sabotage their chances of survival because of malnutrition. I get that it's just a movie, but the film directors got some heat for mentally damaging their actors for the film. They'd also harass them all night with weird noises so they couldn't sleep.
In my opinion, an amazing work. I really enjoy the sound design of the movie a lot. The eerie sounds coming from the woods, childrenβs sounds during that one tent scene, the lack of music, etc. It all feels so much more genuine and real that way. I know that a lot of viewers donβt like the shaky camera, but I for one think it adds to the βgenuineβ aspect of the movie. If youβre running around scared in the woods then youβre not going to be holding the camera steady. I also loved that we didnβt get to see the witch or any real physical representation of the evil. It leaves the movie for interpretation and our imagination to run with. On a side note, the marketing for this movieβs release was genius.
Overall, I really enjoyed the movie and I would highly recommend it if anyone hasnβt seen it yet. I would say that the simplicity of the movie, the lack of jump scares, absence of music, no physical representation of the witch and a minute amount of characters to follow made for a really incredible movie. Easily one of my favorite horror movies now.
After maybe a few hours, Iβm on chapter 7. I feel like I already figured out whatβs happening. The mechanics with the dog are broken. The game has glitched out 3 times in my short time playing, making it impossible to move, causing me to have to restart.
You spend most of the time wandering around in the woods, which I get is part of the experience, but itβs just boring. They could have done a much better job with the atmosphere.
Iβm glad I got it on sale for like $10, as I might actually delete it. I donβt know why, but I expected more. The βenemiesβ are also kind of dumb.
Does it get better?
To me, I think it was the subtle stuff that creeped me out about The Witch in the first film like >!them being in a loop in the first film going past the same log, seeing the symbols & the rock piles, them hearing Josh call out in pain & them hearing "Josh" calling out after Heather found what was left if him but the one for me that was pretty spooky was when they heard the sounds of the dead children laughing. I always thought not seeing anything was actually scarier, what we think in our minds makes it even scarier & not getting all the answers was a perfect way to end it IMHO. !<They kinda kept that up in BW2 when they see some of the >!dead children as illusions, I thought that was effective. !<
Now in the games, I loved how creepy they were, especially the last one, I loved >!the part where the dog is hurt & you're trying to get him out of the woods but you're stuck in a loop. That was legit creepy to me, it reminded me of the first film. !<I may be in the minority but I didn't mind the >!powers we saw from the Witch in the 2016 film, the only thing that I didn't like was seeing the witch, (although you really could argue that it was the witch using this image to freak them out & it wasn't really how it looked) and seeing 'Heather', I really wished that they actually got Heather, Mike & Josh back for that film. Seeing him interacting with the actual Heather & having it be an illusion, I think that could've been more effective.!<
What were some things that you thought were genuinely creepy from the films & games in the franchise so far?

He seems to almost exclusively do horror. The symbol always kinda reminded me of the Blair Witch twig figures. I'm starting to wonder if the finale will be a real horror-show.
Blair Witch project, VHS, Grave encounters, Cloverfield, Rec, Pighkeepse tape, like them. Only me or is there basically no new found footage horrors coming out lately?
I watched BWP for the first time about 2 years ago. I thought it would be just another boring jumpscare movie, but I totally loved it and I was on the edge of my seat during every night they go through. I haven't seen the second one, but I have seen the 3rd which I didn't like because of the jumpscares, constant screaming and meh acting. There's probably not much demand for it, but I'd like to see a Blair Witch movie where the main characters actually find a way to make it out. Not like making the audience think they made it out but actually didn't, I mean really get out, be traumatised but go on with their lives eventually. I know the witch is a ridiculously strong bitch, it's her forest, she can do what she wants, but I'd love if it producers found a way for the characters to mislead her, cheat their way out, no matter how.

"The Curse of the Blair Witch" IMDB link
If you weren't around when "The Blair Witch Project" 1999 debuted, you might not be aware of this real-looking mockumentary. Aired on (what was) the SciFi channel. This film, along with a cryptic website, helped push the idea that the Blair Witch was a very real thing.
They worked well enough that those who wanted to believe (for whatever reason) had reason to do so.
"The Curse..." is, in some ways, creepier than the feature (at least to me.) Worth watching if you've not seen it, and enjoy the fake myth behind the feature.
Has decent reviews and is only 10 bucks till the 22nd of this month on PSN so just wondering. (Definitely already bought layers of fear one and two since itβs only $17 for both right now)
I just saw on the Yellowjackets wiki page that Eduardo Sanchez (co creator and director of The Blair Witch Project) is directing the season 1 finale of Yellowjackets. I'm PUMPED. I couldn't be more happier about this. It's super fitting I think.
I just watched the scene where Ashley snaps one of the Blair witch dolls in half and it snaps the girl with the purple hair in half. dude lol. I had to pause to collect myself. maybe it's because I read a lot of wilderness survival stories, but the whole atmosphere was really spooky. anyone else like this movie? it feels almost like a horror video game.
My uncle gave it to a garage salesman without asking my permission and it was a very valuable and priced possession for me. Now Iβm looking for the book everywhere but itβs sold out, pls help me out.
A group of friends in the woods with weird things happening all around, doesnβt necessarily need to be in a forest Iβm just really craving a horror read with this type of vibe :)
Howdy howdy folks! It's currently day 2 of my sobriety and that means it's time to take my (and hopefully your) mind off of things with another movie a day discussion!
First off though, thank you for all of the wonderful suggestions and responses that you left on the last post! I'm still at work but I'll probabaly edit this post later today with a letter boxed link to all the movies that I've not seen yet, and have only watched due to your recommendation!
Anywhom, due to this new goal of mine, let's discuss!
What's the best horror film of all time?
It's my personal favorite genre, even if it does contain an abnormal amount of real stinkers. (Maybe only children's oriented animation tops it)
Now "best" is obviously subjective, as is movie discussion and personal preference, so I'll split this into two categories
"Best" as in contribution, impact, or influence on the medium as a whole - my pick would be the first Saw film. Love it or hate it, the amount of influence that this film caused for the "torture porn" subgenre is unfathomable. For the next 5 years after its release we would see constant CONSTANT clones, variations, and more sequels and spin offs that I can count. Not to say that Saw is necessarily a bad film by any means, I actually quite like the first two, but as James A. Janise said on "dead meat" the sequels really do become like a soap opera that almost seems like its competing with itself to be as confusing as possible.
Honorable mentions for this category IMO are - Psycho, Friday the 13th, and Paranormal Activity.
"Best" as in personal or critic enjoyment - This one is a really hard pick honestly. Like I said, it's a personal favorite genre of mine so theres a lot to pick from - I was really, really impressed with Hereditary, Midsommar has grown on me since I first saw it, too. The Thing, of course has the best monster of all time. But I think I'm going with The Blair Witch Project.
I know, pretty overrated film nowadays, it's slow, theres not too much actually happening at all, and it's pretty long for the actual content. But it just FEELS so unbelievably authentic to me that I cant help but fall in love with how eerie it is. The actors speak to eachother like they're legitament human beings, the atmosphere is just right. Plus, theres bonus points here for me too that it's also possibly the most influential found footage film of all time. I wasnt around when the movie was first coming out, but I also have to imagine a big ca
