A list of puns related to "Bilingual Education"
Iβve met many French people who speak perfect English, albeit with an accent. How is English taught in your schools? We are American, and my son has taken Spanish since preschool (heβs now in 5th grade-11 years old) and couldnβt have a fluent conversation with a Spanish speaking infant. Heβs very smart, itβs not him, none of his classmates can speak Spanish fluently. I began Spanish in 7th grade, took it all through college, got straight As, and can read most of it, but canβt really understand a Spanish speaker. What are we doing wrong? I want my kids (and Iβd like myself) to speak at least one other language somewhat fluently. Itβs very rare for Americans to be bilingual, and itβs unfortunate. I so admire people who can speak multiple languages and very much want my children to be bilingual.
Our LO Is 14 months, and we speak mandarin and english in the house. Wanting to be in a community of specifically bilingual households OR early childhood education-focused subreddits. Any suggestions helpful. Thank you!
Hello everyone! I have a bachelor's in Teaching Chinese (from abroad) and am looking into getting licensed in the States before I move back. I have no idea where to start in terms of where to get credentialed. I am wanting to go into bilingual education Mandarin-Chinese, but I don't have a preference of State much less a specific district. So my question is, where do I start? I can't find any information online of areas with a shortage of bilingual teachers or even the best States/districts to work in for bilingual education. I am looking into California or Texas but I really am open to anywhere. Any advice? Thanks!!

Hi everyone!
I'm super passionate about language learning and recently published a blog post about bilingual education. For that, I've researched academic literature on the topic and compiled my learnings. A list of references is included at the bottom! :-)
Perhaps someone here would find this useful. I'm also still new to blogging, so if anyone has any advice for improving my blog, I'd happily take it!

Iβm an esl teacher in NYS. At my school our ESL population is like 95% Spanish speaking. It seems that esl teachers are being replaced by bilingual teachers. New regs say (certified) bilingual teachers can give esl students their mins. But we have mainly uncertified bilingual teachers. Thoughts on bilingual education replacing esl teachers?
I previously replied to a comment with this article but I felt this article deserved its own post. China is not erasing Uyghur language, they are offering them the ability to learn both languages.

Hi, Iβm in the process of moving to Basel with my family. We are originally from Brazil but lived in the US for 7 years and now in Germany for 5.
My oldest daughter is 9 and she is currently in an international school in Germany. Her German has been improving a lot but she still feels much more comfortable with English.
My initial thoughts were to just move her into an international school but after looking at the fees I was completely shocked. 25 to 30k CHF per year is just too much.
Is there a more affordable alternative for bilingual education? If not, any foreigners with kids that could share their experience putting their kids in Swiss or German school?
Has anyone applied to or has been a part of the bilingual authorization program for teachers at CSUF? Iβm interested in doing it since Iβm bilingual in Spanish and English, but I wanted some more information on how the entrance exam is set up. I know thereβs a written essay portion, but i wasnβt too sure if thatβs all it is or what more there is to it. Any info would help, thanks!
I'm a teacher in New York and need help trying to figure out which certificate to apply for?
My current Bilingual extension is going to expire next year (2021).
I have my classroom 1-6 professional certificate. That doesn't expire as long as I meet the general requirements for meeting PD hours.
When I went into the TEACH account, I was having trouble trying to choose the "correct" certificate type? I called before for help, but they didn't really understand my question. So here goes...
The drop-down menu shows: "Permanent extension" and "Professional Ext/Ann." I thought maybe I should choose permanent so that I won't have to worry about renewing the certificate but then I kept reading different things that it's for PPS/Admin or that it COULD be for teachers staying in the classroom? But I apply for the professional Ext/Ann in bilingual, will I have to complete an ADDITIONAL 100 hours in PD to keep renewing it?
