A list of puns related to "Bernie Williams"
Bernie Williams was executed with two shots from a pistol to the head on March 3, 1984, near Gisborne, Victoria, Australia. He had been walked 20 metres off Hobbs Road, in Bullengarook, into a scrubby patch of bush with his hands tied behind his back. Reports indicated there was evidence he knew what was coming, but I havenβt found a report as to what that evidence is. His body showed no other injuries and so police believe he was killed by a professional hitman. His body was found hunched over by a trail bike rider, five days after he disappeared.
Williams was the doting father of a three-year-old daughter. He was married to the girl's mother, but they were separated and remained on good terms.
It may be that Bernie had a premonition something was going to happen to him, telling his mother several weeks before he disappeared that he was βin big troubleβ. Asking if she could help he told his mother: "No β¦ it's something I have to do for myself."
Bernie was a champion footballer and well-known around his home town of Melton. Melton at the time was a small country town and football was one of the hubs of social life. The other thing that Bernie had a reputation for was having affairs with various women, some of whom were the wives and girlfriends of other men.
This meant that police had several suspects when Williams' body was discovered murdered in the bush.
Four days after his disappearance, a phone call to a police station north of Melbourne was received claiming to be Williams and that he was on a βbingeβ and camped just outside Adelaide, South Australia . He would be back in two weeks. A junior constable initially took the call, hearing the initial STD beeps indicating the call had come from interstate. He then handed the phone to Officer B. Officer B claimed to investigators that it was Bernie Williams on the call as he knew him well. However at the time of the call Bernie Williams was already dead, the state of his body suggesting he had died within hours of going missing.
Based on this sexual jealousy theory, detectives theorised that "The way he died is consistent with somebody having paid a hit man to do the job," Homicide Squad Detective Sergeant Bob Snell told the media in 1985. "An irate husband would probably want to make sure he suffered before being killed. Mr Williams had not been touched. His only injuries were caused by the two shots."
In June, 1985, a coroner delivered an open finding, saying there appeared to be no motive fo

Just finished the Patrick Head episode of Beyond the Grid, where (Head) says that Bernie told Frank to sign Villeneuve because he didn't like how popular IndyCar was getting. Apparently this might have been in retaliation to Newman-Haas signing Mansell back in 93. A sort of tit-for-tat in poaching champions. Robin Miller used to argue regularly that Bernie was scared about how popular CART was getting in the 90s, but this is the first time I've ever heard anyone from Formula 1 echo that statement with a firm example. I believe it's in the last 20 minutes of the chat. Link below.

I suck at this game but I love it, I was looking but couldn't find if maybe Bernie was in this game somewhere? I can't see him on any of my unlocks but that doesn't mean much and some of the lists I've seen weren't 100%.
For other reference - would probably be around 96-2001ish CF Yanks 51.
He was one of my favorite players other than Kruk who I know isn't in the game, but just a hopeful question that is easy to answer. Thanks!
Maybe because of his quiet personality, but I think Bernie Williams doesnβt get the credit he is due. He hit for average, he hit for power, and he was one of the best fielding center fielders of his era and in Yankee stadium history.
My son is switching from IF to OF and I was thinking of ways to coach him. Some things, like speed canβt be taught. Bernie never looked that fast because he was so smooth. He was fast. But what really set him apart in the field was his first step. I remember reading an article by one of the Yankees spring instructors who said that Bernie was already starting to move as the pitch was on the way. Sure, some of this was instincts - but those instincts were developed by knowing the pitchers and the batters and stadiums and watching the pitch location and the batterβs reactions. So Bernie ended up making fewer of the flashy diving catches snd wall climbing leaps that made the highlights - he was just simply and quickly most often where the ball was going to be. I think, in general, outfield defense is hard to measure and undervalued. I think Bernie in CF snd our overall outfield defense during his years was a bigger factor in our success than people realize.
Going into this next year, I feel good w ith a starting outfield defense of Frazier, Hicks, and Judge. Tauchman is an able defender, but if his bat doesnβt show up, Iβm not thrilled with our other options. Andujar, 37 year old Gardner, Florial, Stanton? They donβt fill me with confidence.

My brother just brought up this Bernie Williams HR that he thinks was against the CHW. I think I know what heβs talking about but canβt find a video.
Pls help.
Dude just flies under the radar.
This is a Bernie Williams appreciation thread by the way:
Basically a 50 bWAR(49.6) for his career
He had 9 consecutive seasons with 120 and above WRC+/OPS+.
4 consecutive gold gloves at one point from 1997-2000.
2336 hits in his career
.297 career average
While playing in the middle of the lineup in one of the best dynasties of any sport, stayed with one team his whole career, was absolute class act like Mariano....aaaand is barely talked about or acknowledged even by his own fan base.
Cour Four my ***.... definitely the Cour Five.
