70 years ago today, the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community was signed in Paris by Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. It intended to bring economic and diplomatic stability in Europe after WWII and it would later become the European Union.

For those who visited the Battle of the Bulge memorial sites here in Luxembourg, or Belgium or Germany, how was it? What were your impressions?
I sometimes wonder how Americans feel when they see that our country is absolutely plastered with American flags commemorating this or that division, general, or even individual soldiers. Thought that when I stood in front of our airport and immediately spotted a star spangled banner in the distance.
