Hello reddit fam - funny enough this is the first reddit post i've ever made.
Me (Chinese-Malaysian-American 24M) and my girlfriend (Korean-American 28F) recently moved to NYC from Orlando, Florida and have been living here for about 8 months now.
We've met many good people here and have explored a bunch of eateries but I know that there's still many hidden gems to uncover in the city (people, food, and experiences alike lol). I'm just looking for like-minded people in the city (who've either lived here for a long time or are new to the city) and share experiences with!
She's a fashion model and hip-hop dancer, and I'm a part-time musician, full-time Relationship Banker with JPMorgan Chase.
Huge plus if anyone has interests in photography, music production (or just listening to music in general), basketball, biking(bicycles), dancing, modeling, food (this one's important), 420 friendly, drinks and just open minded - but honestly if we're calling this a meetup, anyone & everyone is invited lol. We're pretty laid back people and just like to be around others.

Reason I decided to go vegan:
- Ethics: I decided to go vegan because I got a dog during quarantine and I never realized how sentient animals really are. He has all the emotions that I do and a genuine human like personality, and I realized if dogs are like this then what's the difference between my dog and a pig? The only difference is that dogs were bred to be Mans best friend, while pigs were domesticated for food. But there's no difference since pigs are even smarter than dogs and deserve compassion, empathy, and love.
- Health: Your microbiome and gut are important to mental health. Serotonin, dopamine, and other neurotransmitters are all made in your gut by bacteria that thrive on fiber. I noticed an enormous mood boost in just 5 days from eating whole vegan foods with lots of fiber (anxiety, depression, energy all increased).
Tips on how to stop cravings for meat (Mainly Fast Food)
- Poor Diet: Before going vegan I literally ate fast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Guilt: All morning, evening, and afternoon I have no cravings for fast food (I use Adderall so I don't really crave food during the day), but at NIGHT after my gym workout I get this huge craving for Mcdonald's that's right next to my gym. I just know one of these days I'm going to go, and feel guilty eating a poor tortured cow. Tips on how to stop these urges at night to eat fast food?
Also, as a new Vegan how can I get enough Iron? I take b12 and b6 supplements, but I want to know some tips for Iron instead of supplements since I keep hearing how vegans don't get enough Iron. If there's any other vitamins or minerals some experts on a vegan lifestyle please give me some tips. So far I feel better than I have ever felt in my entire life with even my Allergies lowered (I could never breathe through my nose my entire life).
Hi, I’ll be moving to Moco in a few months with my girlfriend and I’m just wondering if there are any cool spots to check out to meet people and also places in the area that can replace what we’re already accustomed to. We’re from North Jersey(not that important) and want to know if there’s any great meat shops in the area, ethnic food stores (mainly Caribbean/Jamaican) and nice parks and basketball courts. Any help would be appreciated! :)

It's hard to get close enough to the trash can to throw your cups away from your car, especially when they have flaps. If they were designed to look sort of look like basketball nets, but without actual nets, people can drive up and throw their cups or trash from their car window so you wouldn't have to get out of your car and hold up the drive through line.
