Do you think 2001 should have won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Art Direction, and Best Screenplay?

I personally think it's a travesty it did not win any of these, kind of like Blade Runner losing Best Art Direction to Gandhi (?????????) or Raiders of the Lost Ark losing Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Score to Chariots of Fire.

I also think Kubrick should have won Best Director for the Shining. Best Cinematography (Steadicam) would have been deserved for the movie, too.

With the Baeksang Arts Awards being tomorrow, i've been seeing more and more knets predicting YJS for TV Daesang. As we all know 'Hangout with You' did and is doing really well with SSAK3 and Refund Sisters and the current project while 'Yoo Quiz on The Block' which inets dont know much about is one of the trending varieties now with the latest episode ratings hitting 5.8%

As someone who only watches variety and not dramas, i dont really know who are the other potential winners? So what are his actual chances of winning the Baeksang Daesang a second time?

To hype up the incoming event, I will like to encourage everyone to come in and have a in-depth discussion on the nominations!

I will like to start by saying I believe this year’s Baeksang will have no clear winner (unlike last year which was clearly SKY castle’s year), which makes this all the more fun.

Below are this year’s nominations, and my personal thoughts and predictions. To make it more interesting, I’ve split them into my Head (logic) vs my Heart (who I'm rooting) predictions.

A little background of myself: I have been watching Kdramas since 2006: my first drama was Princess Hours (Goong), and since then, I have been consistently watching dramas throughout the years. I may have not watched every single kdrama out there, but I have watched enough! I also follow Baeksang every year so I have an idea which kind of dramas Baeksang tend to favor.

Best Drama: This is one of the hardest categories to predict, particularly because there is no standout winner. Looking at past winners (My Mister, Mother), I favor WTCB over the others, because overall it feels more polished, with a cohesive and broader theme, and similar in trajectory for dramas that Baeksang judges tend to favor.

My Head: When the Camelia Blooms, otherwise CLOY

My Heart: Kingdom 2 (because Zombies!!!)

The Baeksang Arts Awards is the most prestigious awards show in Korea held annually by Ilgan Sports publisher IS PLUS Corp. since 1965. It honors outstanding achievements in the South Korean entertainment industry and to garner public attention upon the best in Korean films, television, and theater. It was established by Chang Key-young, founder of the Hankook Ilbo newspaper, whose pen name was "Baeksang."

The 56th edition on June 5 will be aired live on JTBC, JTBC2 and JTBC4, as well as streamed worldwide via VLIVE. It will be hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Bae Suzy and Park Bo-gum for the third consecutive year. It will also be held without an audience. Two days before a grand showdown happens on June 5, I'm sure you would want to have a thread about the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards. Well, here it is! (Reminder: I got perms from the mods to create this! And yes, this was definitely inspired by the r/KDRAMA post.)

I haven't watched any of them except Kang's Kitchen, so I can't give my thoughts. However, we have to think about the impact each of these shows have brought to Korean audiences. Personally, Kang's Kitchen is such a good concept—the plot twist on S2 E6 was so fun—and seeing the cast adapt to changes in the kitchen is so hilarious to watch! But Mister Trot is gonna win this. It's gonna be a sure win for that show, and if not I'll riot. Jk

I was surprised that Jang Sung-kyu got nominated for Movie Room! He's definitely on a roll this year, a lot of good things have happened to him and 2020 isn't even done yet. I really wanted to watch this show, especially the one episode when Shin Ye-ri (JTBC News' Press Production Director and host of Overnight Debate, also did a cameo on Workman #35) and Lee Ga-hyuk (Newsroom's Fact Check segment host) guested. (No subs, unfortunately.) If he clinches this nom, it'll be his first win. But of course, that doesn't come without competition. With heavyweights Kim Sung-joo and Yoo Jae-suk, and rising variety stars Moon Se-yoon and Kim Hee-chul hindering his chances for that coveted win, this will be a battle for the ages.

4. Start-Up for best supporting actor, best new actor, and best new actress.
