A list of puns related to "Ashley Williams"
After watching another playthrough of ME3 I can't help but feel like some of the writers have a hate boner for Ash.
Throughout the game Ash is written as "naggy", rude, and incompetent. Hell even in the Citadel DLC she's blatantly insulted by both Joker and Traynor. Hell its been established that Ashley has NEVER trusted Udina but she's willing to trust Udina over Shepard in that critical moment?
This is made worse by the fact that Traynor is just a complete newbie and has no right to criticize Ashley after everything she's been through. Like I'm not a big fan of Ash and I love Traynor but IRL I honestly would have been tempted to tell Traynor to shut up during that exchange.
Not to mention that Ash barely has any interactions on the Normandy and he most notable moment on the ship is her passed out on the floor drunk. Like Writers was the supposed to be endearing? It COULD be endearing if Ash wasn't portrayed as not doing much of anything during her entire time on the ME3 Normandy.
Like.. I'm glad Kaiden was a lot better written in ME3 but it feels like it was a monkey's paw situation.
Player: "Dear Bioware, I wish Kaiden was a lot more interesting and likable!"
Bioware: "Deal, but in exchange, we're going to completely shit on Ashley and diminish her likability. KAYTHANXBYEEEEE!!"
As someone who isn't an Ashley fan even from ME1, I believe they did Ash dirty.
What makes it worse for me is because I absolutely love her voice actress (Kimberly Brooks).
For quite some time ive been Searching for an Ash williams avatar. But I legit have no luck, so if anyone has an Ashley J Williams skin from Evil dead please let me know. Thank you!
Seriously though. Why does she have so little dialogue? Kaidan's character was so fleshed out in the game but Ashley got one drunk scene? It's the exact opposite of ME1. I can think of a few reasons as to why but does anybody actually know what happened?
Robin's voice was familiar to me, so I looked her up and didn't realize how prolific her work was! Kimberly Brooks has been in a litany of things that I've watched and played, dating all the way back to one of my childhood favorite games, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. Her most impactful role for me was as Ashley in Mass Effect; I'm thrilled for the devs that they got her to perform as Robin!
Are there any other big VA's in Subnautica/Below Zero that I haven't picked up on yet? Voice actors are my favorite performers and I always love learning about their other roles.
Cheryl during the end of the game, where she's at her peak vs. ash at HIS peak which...can be any of the evil dead films honestly since he loses his hand and gets older
So mainly I just see the relentless hate of her on podcasts. everyone's character tier list and just all over YouTube. She is arguably my second favorite character in the entire series behind Tali. If I had a dollar for every "space racist" comment.. I believe when it is species against species for there place in space that sentiment was taken differently by the community than maybe Bioware intended. I believe she is a strong but flawed character you see grow through 3 games. Although I hated the limited interaction in ME 2.
Am I the only Ashley Williams fan?
Edit - I just want to say I love how this conversation is going and except for a few people has never gone the "space racist" route.
Like Iβm all for cutting down on toxicity but cutting words out wonβt really do much also I like swearing so Iβd like to turn the filter off please
My first play through (which was literally almost 10 years ago), I didnβt like Ashleyβs character. To be honest I still donβt. So I never really explored her dialogue or story any more than I had to. Always played a male Shepard and romanced Liara (Liara best girl). In my very first play through, I actually accidentally saved Kaiden instead of Ashley because I didnβt realize what it was asking me to choose. Of course Iβm going to go protect the bomb first, thatβs the whole mission. Duh. Turns out, this kills Ash. Bummer, but oh well. But Iβm getting off track here lol
I recently played through the full trilogy again and romanced Ashley in ME1 and Tali in the other two. This lead me to parts of Ashleyβs story I had no idea about. She is a Christian! As a Christian myself, I really appreciated that they would include that. Most games make the Christians the bad guys, and honestly, given our history, I donβt blame them. But this science-fiction futuristic game didnβt just gloss over it, they actually included it, and in a good way! Ash isnβt some fanatical evangelist. Sheβs just βthis is what I believe, and that has effected my life in this way.β Very cool
I wish they had included more religions as well. I know there is a small thing about a guy wanting to get his sonβs remains so that they can bury him properly (may be wrong but I think it was Hindu or Islam, I donβt remember properly). Religion is an important part of human society and it should be represented more, and in positive lights no less
But this is all just my opinion of course. You all are welcome to your own opinions. Just thought Iβd voice my thoughts. Have a good day!
