Hello everyone! I don't know if this idea would bear out in practice, but I'd love to see your thoughts on it.
Obviously this would require a large-ish scale AU to pull off and hinges on a failed rebellion by the North in order to make the Starks traitors. My first thought to make the circumstance work is that Rickard is burned alive alone in King's Landing for non-Lyanna kidnapping reasons and Brandon follows Robb's path as KitN, including death for him and his brothers.
The other largest complication would be the Dayne family situation and why Arthur would claim him instead of the unnamed Lord Dayne and father of Edric. It would rely on either where Ashara births Jon (if it's in the North, and Lord Dayne is at Starfall) or some other explanation.
However, with that being said; the similarities are there. Arthur is the King's best friend and is a man of honor just like Eddard. Jon, being a bastard of a Kingsguard, would have similar experiences in the capital as he did in Winterfell- probably not any targeted ire like that of Catelyn, but more disdain about bastards in general. It would also keep Jon's parentage as a big mystery to Westeros at large, raised under a false name for security.
What do you think? Is it too outlandish to consider? Any suggestions to make it better?
Anyone has a copy of the book "Clinically Oriented Anatomy" 4th edition By Keith L. Moore, Arthur F. Dalley? badly needed it. Thank you!
