The annual ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards are Australia's equivalent of the Grammy Awards or the Brit Awards. This year's nominees were announced yesterday and are being widely reported across Australian media.
The ARIA Awards were first held in 1987 (it's on youtube, even though the awards weren't televised until the early 1990s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQnfp4K4G4o).
The winners for the second year of the awards, 1988, are clear, and include Midnight Oil, Icehouse and Crowded House. But it's an almost complete mystery who was nominated (but did not win) in that year, for most of the categories.
