Long story short this place ruined my (and some family membersβ) faith and now i donβt believe in any of it anymore. Theyβve done some pretty horrible stuff and my story is just one of many. Just wondering if anyone on here has had a similar experience with this church. (Also first post go easy on me thx)
I was at MCC and was alone and just on my phone, when a rather odd fellow approached me and shook my hand and asked my major, etc., and was oddly upbeat. I knew what was coming, being from the bible belt and all. There's a difference between simply inviting someone to your church and being weird and trying to convince them that you have a greater purpose and need to join. He told me he'd been kicked out of the nursing program for missing some clinicals or something and was not even currently attending MCC, then he started talking about god and his spirituality and asked me about my relationship with god, to which I responded I am an atheist. He started trying to 'witness' to me to change my mind and urged me to join his life group at Antioch. I explained my reasons to him and was nice to him, but the experience overall kind of creeped me out.
I've heard so many sketchy things about that place, and I have no interest in joining a church group for obvious reasons. It was bizarre. Also, he told me about his porn addiction that had previously consumed his life ("not just heterosexual porn, but all kinds of porn") which further made me a bit uncomfortable.
I've heard before that they have some 'agenda' to go out and recruit college-aged students, and yeah that kind of confirmed any suspicions for me. Has anyone else had this happen?! Or am I just one of the "lucky ones"?
