I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Hey guys! I posted in the November query letter + first page package critique and got some awesome feedback! I revised my query and I'm posting it here—I'd appreciate any feedback you guys have!

Query: As a private assassin, nothing excites Nick more than the challenge of murdering a slippery subject. So when one of his intended targets, Shii Ann, staves off his attack by proposing they work together to assassinate the elusive business magnate Reed Yun, Nick eagerly accepts her offer. Reed’s a devilish, powerful man, and Nick’s looking forward to finally having a challenge—his recent murders have been far too easy. The fifteen-million-dollar bounty on Reed’s head is just a bonus. Along with technology expert Joseph and weapons extraordinaire Fletcher, Nick and Shii Ann track Reed across the United States, hoping to secure the fifteen-million-dollar bounty on his head.

But as the journey progresses, Nick grows suspicious of the people he’s working with. Why does Joseph have such a vested interest in building a personal rapport with Nick? How come Fletcher keeps disappearing during critical moments? And why the hell does Shii Ann seem so nonchalant about collaborating with Nick, a ruthless hitman who recently attempted to kill her? Up to this point, he’s exclusively operated alone, and he’s not sure how to navigate this new, relationship-centered world. He starts to have second thoughts, but at this point, it’s too late: Nick’s already tangled in a web of covert deals and clandestine alliances. As Nick uncovers lies and endures acts of betrayal, he starts to realize he might not complete the mission without taking a knife to the back.

I am seeking representation for Spiderweb, an 87,000 word thriller. A novel with action and intrigue, as well as a thematic focus on human connection, Spiderweb blends the mystery of Ruth Ware’s One by One with the intensity of Stephen King’s Billy Summers. It places a spotlight on Asian American characters and will probably appeal most to younger adult audiences.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I'm a sucker for Epic Fantasy, but the size of my tbr pile makes it hard to actually pick one out and start reading. To address this, I've attempted to create a semi-definitive (impossible, ik) list of fantasy series of a certain style (see trait list below).

The purpose of this post is to seek help in refining this list so others with similar tastes can reference this post rather than spend two days digging through hundreds of recommendation post from the history of this subreddit (as I've done).

So here's the gist of the list:

1. Epic Fantasy Series - Large in Scale / High in Stakes / Fantasy Setting / Multiple Books
2. Interconnected - Preferrably more in common beyond the setting. Preferrably not episodic.
3. Not YA, Not Webnovels - Not trying to yuck anyone's yum, but primarily YA novels could be another entire list.
4. Multiple POVs Preferred - Not a necessity.
5. High Quality and Consistency - Series with five 8/10 books preferred over a series with one 10/10 and four 5/10 books. While quality is subjective, this list is meant to include series that are generally very well-received.
6. Cohesive Ending - Closure to series as a whole present or planned/intended.
7. One Entry per Author - To avoid bloat, r/Fantasy's favorite qualifying series was selected for each author. Disagree with the selection? Let me know.
