A list of puns related to "Anna Short Harrington"
I don't understand why he is portrayed as a lesser-RFK. Sure his reforms go further, but he isn't any more interesting and he reads more like a capitalistic Sablin than an actual hardliner who has to fight tooth and nail to get his reforms through. America, even in a world where fascism is rampant and the USSR never got the chance to meme, doesn't like socialism. Keep in mind that this is more of a rant than actual suggestions.
Harrington is a socialist. Socialists are made when they realize the system is designed to do what it does: financial crises, a tendency towards authoritarianism, poverty, etc. It is possible to reform it and to make it better for the working class, this is what RFK does, but a socialist wants to look beyond this. Democratic socialists are special in that, while they do seek to take the means of production from the rich, they tend to do it through democratic means: taking the reins of the state, solidifying their position, and pushing the rich back. So why is he a generic blessed sablinite progressive?
A Harrington run should be as hard to play as hardliner Wallace or radical RFK. He doesn't just want universal healthcare or generic social security. His goal is to secure a form of American socialism through the democratic system. I think it could be possible to reflect that
Quick disclaimer: I'm a 17y/o Canadian that doesn't know THAT much about American labor history apart from a few podcasts and books. I could be completely wrong, this is just my interpretation of the lore.
American socialism is one that is defined by how diverse the people are and by love for blue-collar workers. It is one that believes heavily in opportunity for EVERYONE. In an America where the New Deal never happened, where globalization hasn't taken shape, where socialism is still seen in a fairly okay light and where (probably, if the prior presidents fucked up enough) everyone is up in arms, it isn't hard to imagine how such rhetoric would be popular.
Assuming the NPP-C isn't dead, in which case he would probably be completely useless, his reforms would start off moderately light (for a socialist) to build up his base. He would put up some strong, although not incredibly powerful CRA legislation to lay the groundwork, some basic social security, he would strengthen unions, workers' rights and try to expand federal power. Already, he would be extremely unpopular in conservative strongholds. Note that their power base consists of poor whites, big parts
... keep reading on reddit β‘Well folks I found me a cheap project that may wind up a paper weight. All due to a small pin. The entire thing functions. Except for the hand pulls the cylinder back before retracting. Thus chambering the same spent casing next time you pull the hammer/trigger. Applying the slightest bit of pressure to the cylinder manually with a finger, while re-setting the trigger after a shot, will work around the issue. However having a fully functional soda can annihilator is more ideal.
I ripped this little sucker apart to try and diagnose the ailment..... I think I may have figured it out. The friction pin mounted in the front of the frame, just under the cylinder retainer, maintains the slightest bit of pressure on a flange at the front of the cylinder. Thus automatically allowing the hand to skirt downward, past its catch on the back of the cylinder, without dragging it back with it. More importantly allowing the shooter to not have to manually perform this function for every round fired.
Well mines rusted solid, and beat to hell. After complete and total discombobulation of every pin and spring. This final piece was found un-moveable.
I have every intention of mercilessly destroying said pin, and replacing it. However the one place I have been able to locate it (numrich gun parts) is out of stock.
My question to you fine people is this. Do you know of any other such place, as to where I might lay my grubby little hands on one....
If not...... Any O'you's got one of them little buggers/ and some calipers...? Maybe with close enough measurements, I could fashion one close enough to function?
What the title says. I usually hate men writing about gratuitous violence (American Psycho, My Absolute Darling), but there's something about the pace, the emotional reality, and prose style of Anna Burns that I find really engaging and exciting. Murderous rampages just hit different when they're written by a woman. Anyway, if you have similar recommendations, please let me know. (And, fwiw, I've already read everything by Ottessa Moshfegh.)
Full letter is in the post. Some excerpts:
βThis feeling comes not from wins and losses, but rather, the idea that in the attempt to chase a national championship, we are losing what made us great in the first place,β the players wrote in the letter. βThis is not a Blue Blood program. Our success was built on the continuity and hard work of the players and coaches in the 30 years prior to 2016 and we, as players, feel we are dangerously close to losing our identity.β
The letter never mentioned Wilcox by name, but two players who signed it confirmed that he was the candidate they wrote about.
βThis letter is not an attempt to harp on the loss of the coaching tradition and he connection it brought between generations of players and families both in Eugene and the larger Oregon Duck community. That ship has sailed,β the letter said. βBut rather, this letter is to suggest that after two attempts to find a coach outside the βOregon Boxβ we believe it may be time again to look within the Oregon family.β
When asked: βIn the movie you ask Sersi why the Eternals didnβt get involved when the Avengers fought Thanos. What did you think of the answer?β Kit replied:
> βI think the answer is pretty satisfactory. This is me talking to the Marvel fans, so shoot me. You mustnβt get too bogged down. This is a new phase; this is a new group of people coming in. If it becomes too much about the Blip or events that happened in the previous stuff, you can trip yourself up everywhere. We need to remember to keep a level of suspended disbelief.β
Thereβs not always gonna be a perfectly satisfying answer to why certain characters donβt βshow up to helpβ in other movies. But sometimes we just need to let it go
