A list of puns related to "Ancestry Informative Marker"
Good day,
according to 23andme, all of the ancestry on the X chromosome is inherited from the mother. They have also provided a neat little diagram which shows how the X chromosome is inherited for males.
Almost my entire X chromosome, according to the chromosome painting on 23andme, is Greek. According to genealogy, however, none of my mothers ancestors is Greek, so I am on a mission to find my Greek ancestor.
As far as I can see on the diagram, the father of my maternal grandfather could not have contributed to the Greekness of my X chromosome, and therefore was not the Greek ancestor I am looking for. Is that correct, or is it not that simple? I am trying to narrow it down to those few ancestors who could have contributed to my Greek ancestry. As my father got tested and had no Greek in his results whatsoever, only my mother is relevant here.
Thank you for reading.
Edit: I was born in Armenia and live abroad now.
I bought this neat photo of two black? babies at a thrift store in Ann Arbor, MI a few days ago. I rarely ever see antique photos of non white people, so this was a really cool find. I gave it to a friend for Christmas, and we popped the frame open to find pencil-written text that provides first names, when they were born and that they are twins.
Neither of us have access to anything beyond a Google search, so were wondering if any of you who know what they are doing could find record of who these babies are, and if they did anything cool during their lives? Are they from Ann Arbor or did this photo travel far to get here? Also- there is always the off chance that a descendant would love to see this photo.

Has anyone every done a specifically 23andme test since they even pinpoint what state you come from within sudan and could tell me their results. Also does anyone have any cool ancestral history/stories about specific individuals? I know someone who did the ancestry test and got the markers for...
ethiopian jewish ancestry which is crazy but not far-fetched. Plus has anyone whose family claim arab lineage been told which branch/tribe from the arabian penninsula they belong to. Since most arab arabs can trace their lineage back to yemen (birthplace of most arab tribes). Below is the 6th century migration pattern of some arab tribes

Good day fellow redditors. Where can I find more information about my family? Got both of the ancestry lists* of my parents but theres nothing useful except every person being born in the same village (which is small-ish, hence no proper research can be done). Are there any milit. records like for the US or germany i can look up the names? Or anything else? I know they had nearly no records about the populatioln till 1800-1900 unless you were an higj ranking officer or sort of relevant. Feels like dead end which probably is.

*Edit: I mean the list from e-devlet.
Bitcoin Magazine's youtube account that has been around since 2011 just got nuked by Youtube
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtOV5M-T3GcsJAq8QKaf0lg
The account has 1.9 Million followers on Twitter and 60,000 on YouTube.
Youtube has made it a habit of taking down prominent informative accounts, while the likes of bitboy and other scammers continue to scam others via the youtube platform. Bitboy even has a verified account.
Google has openly been supporting crypto scams, even fake phishing wallets show up in google search instead of domains of the actual wallets
edit: still looking for answer if there is any clinical relevance or knowledge otu there to high ish calcium (10.9) and low parathyroid (11); doctor suggesting only cause seems to be metastases. thanks
I don't know much else, but I have been feeling fatigued this last year. Calcium had been slightly high for as long as I've had tests on it (at least 10 years). I think recently 10.9, often around there like 10.7, never super high. Checked with family, no one else has had high calcium. Type 1 diabetic, and doctor told me to run it by my upcoming new endo, but I don't see them for another 6 weeks. Been feeling incredibly fatigued the last year, low dopamine style (thats biased assumption not fact) , letting life pass by me. Doing vitamin D and K and some minerals and trace minerals for now including electrolytes with potassium and phosphorous.
Details about me 36M. 5 8, 160. Last a1c 5.6. White. Don't smoke, barely drink, no recreational. Not getting enough exercise in current location/lifestyle. Am a nutritionist a bit on the holistic side.
Parathyroid hormone was 11 (ref range 14-64), and vitamin D was 32 (even though I had been taking 10,000 IU at least 2xweekly)
If there are any other rules of the sub I could follow better please lmk
In countless family trees posted online, I read the same erroneous information that is not sourced but appears to be copied from other trees. For example, stating that this fellow was a Lieutenant in the British army in 1710, yet I have never uncovered actual documentation to prove this. I have also seen trees where this same William is described as being a father at 11, getting married at age 12, and that his siblings (in real life) have somehow become his own children. I realize that genealogy can be difficult to nail down however, is there a way to prevent people from spreading the same misinformation in their own trees? Short of emailing each individual, I suspect the answer is to accept the fact that not everyone attempts to verify their sources prior to publicizing their trees. I try to verify my data and like many others , some errors slip through but I try to be as diligent as I can. My apologies for ranting a little but I am hoping for sage advice on how to approach the false information stuff that happens. Thanks for reading this...hoping for assistance.
G'Day from Australia!
I have hit a brick wall with my Scottish "Stewart" ancestry. Ive searched within ancestry.com and outside of it, including public records, the locations where this particular family was from, lived and moved around, gravefinder.com, and I have even delved into other feeds and peoples trees and unfortunately it looks very similar. I have even paid for the UK/Great Britain ancestry service to find my ancestors' history- however, I have since left this service as I was finding no new information. I am trying to find further back, and I know records get lost, graves become decrepit and lost in time, and some facts don't get published, but if you have any further information on this family, I would greatly appreciate it.
DEFINITE FACTS*:
- My 5th Great Grandfather, William Stewart (born in 1841, Alva, Stirlingshire, Scotland- died in 1909 Talbot/Amherst, Victoria or Australia).
- William married Sarah Arnold Hibbins (born in 1851, Northhampshire, England- died in 1909, Amherst, Victoria, Australia).
- William migrated with his father (potential name: James Stewart, born in 1817, Kelso, Roxburghshire Scotland- died in 1868, Amherst, Victoria), [assuming to have migrated, although cannot find the passenger list for his mother] mother (potential name: Fanny/Euphemia Leydon), and 2 siblings (both born in Scotland) at the age of 8 years old or so.
- William had a third sibling born in Australia (Isabella Jane Stewart born in Melbourne in 1849, died in NSW in 1899), presumably after arrival.
- Sarah Hibbins migrated with her father Henry Hibbins at a similar age to William.
- Both married in Australia, and had about 12-13 children, including my 4th Great Grandmother Mary Osbourne Stewart (1969-1914).
*I have managed to back up this information by viewing passenger lists, marriage and death certificates, and even have proof of grave sites.
This is where the information starts to blur a bit. I have listed from ancestry as James Stewart (Williams father), marrying a "Fanny/Euphemia Leydon" (born in 1811, Roxburgh, Scotland- died in 1865, Bung Bong, Victoria, Australia). [I do not have evidence of Fanny's/Euphemia's gravesite, so I cannot see if she truly ended up in Bung Bong, or was moved to another gravesite].
**I am trying to find information on James Stewart, whether that is his name or not. I have little to no information on siblings, potential information on p
