No sweat.
Children litterature classic The Little Prince, by French author Antoine de Saint-ExupΓ©ry, referenced in a Japanese gacha game? Maybe as a cameo here and there (FGO did it), but an entire event based around the book? That was certainly a surprise!
Though it is less obvious than most of the other events that are direct references to existing works (The entire Romeo & Juliet saga; Romance of the Three Kingdoms for The Art of Mercy...), the inspiration here is both more subtle and more profound. There are cute "cosmetic" references, but the most amazing part is that a lot of the deeper aspects of the events, like its themes, its star motif and even its very name, can be traced back to the novel.
But first, let's start with the more obvious (or surface-level) references:
-The event shows its hand during Fiorito's flashback, by revealing the book she cherishes is called "The Roses and the Prince", about a prince who grows roses and tells his story to a stranded helmsman. This is an obvious parallel to the plot of The Little Prince, which is mainly told in first person by the narrator/author, a pilot stranded in the Sahara desert after his plane crashed (a literal self-insert; Saint-ExupΓ©ry was a pilot in real life, and died doing aerial reconnaissance during WWII), who meets a strange blond-haired boy who tells him of his life on his small planet, of the rose he grew there, and his many travels through the stars.
-A very subtle one that I really, really love but is incredibly hard to catch are the coordinates of Spharai given to young Fio: "six to twelve", which she says is a reference to the prince's birthplace. This is a reference to the "official" denomination given by Saint-ExupΓ©ry for The Little Prince's planet: asteroid B 612.
-Finally, Lavirita's appearance is a direct reference to that of the Little Prince. Specifically of the iconic watercolor "portrait" Saint-ExupΓ©ry did of his character, wearing a green coat with red lining. Though in the original picture the character had a sword, which is ironic considering the Harvin uses a gun.
That's for the easy stuff. Now we must go deeper. When it comes to the themes of the event and how they relate to those of The Little Prince, I think the best way to approach it is to analyze each element of the title, "Marionnette Stars", independently in light of the themes developped in the book:
-Most of the story of the Little Prince deals with the incredulity of the titular character towards the worl
