My wife and myself saw this beautiful AR Giulia in a stunning red. My wife asked if it was a βgood carβ. I explained that once upon a time Alfaβs had a poor reputation relating to its reliability. However, this was years ago and Iβm interested to see what you guys/girls think about the brand now.
So here's a funny quirk about this F1 season. People have been praising Williams for being much better this season and getting P8 in the season, but it doesn't tell the entire story.
I first looked at Belgium. Williams got 10 points there, Alfa 0 - exactly the points deficit between the two teams. Hilariously, Williams would still be ahead of Alfa Romeo thanks to Latifi's P7 in Hungary being the highest result between the two teams Spa notwithstanding.
Looking at the results right below the top 10 however tells the full story. Alfa Romeo got a finish between P11 and P15 an astonishingly 32 times (out of a max of 44), which Williams only managed 13 times. Alfa got 12 P11/12 finishes to boot, versus only 5 for Williams.
It's true Alfa threw away some possible high finishes themselves (Mexico comes to mind, poor Gio), but this to me is a flaw in the 10 drivers getting points system in an era where it's exceptionally rare we have less than 15 finishers. (Hungary and Abu Dhabi were the only two this season)
I really hope F1 will in the near future consider a 15 drivers getting points system, I feel it'll make lower end racing more intense to boot.
This got me curious. He obviously didnβt say which one, just that they:
- Offered to pay 1.5x more
- Had faster car (Compared to Alfa)
What do you think? I have no clue about the current contract situations. Alpha Tauri possibly?
