[PSA] Regarding Alexey Pajitnov

I wanted to make this short write-up regarding the last several posts I’ve made, which were about how I got my Tetris cartridge signed through-the-mail by Alexey Pajitnov (the game’s original creator), as I’ve gotten a ton of questions as to how I did this and how others can do the same, and I wanted to put this little PSA out there because I think it’s important.

Everyone, please try to make sure Alexey doesn’t get bombarded with autograph requests. I know this is super rad & a bunch of you want autographs as well, but try to be conscientious of how many requests he might get now that I’ve posted this around Reddit. I don’t want him to get super-bombarded with letters asking him to sign a copy of Tetris, and I’m worried that he may become overloaded now that I’ve drawn a fair bit of attention to this. Keep in mind that you can always wait a little while before writing him up- if you ever want to write to him (or any of several others for that matter) you can search up his business address and write out to that. A good site to use is fanmail.biz– that’s where I’ve gotten Alexey’s and several other people’s addresses to request TTM (through-the-mail) sig.’s, and you can even post your response and request new addresses on the site’s forum.

Also, if you decide to write to him, please make sure to include a SASE- a self-addressed stamped envelope- which is just that– a 2nd envelope you put in the first one that has your own address on the front and, most importantly, has the postage already covered for whomever you’re writing to. This is an important move of courtesy as it makes it much less of a hassle for Alexey (or whoever you’re writing to) to send the signed item back to you. After all, you’re the one asking him for the signature, so it’s only fair that you don’t make him have to pay to send it back to you. If you don’t do this, then there’s a good chance that you might not get your item back, and even if you do it’s still more fair to do this anyways.

To anyone who reads this, thanks. I’m not trying to talk or scare everybody out of writing to Alexey, because I know it’s really cool & I certainly encourage people to try getting into TTM autographs because of how fun and gratifying of an experience it is. I just want to make sure nothing too catastrophic happens on Alexey’s side of things. Either way, do whatever you think is best.

Cheers, ~Tristan <3
