A list of puns related to "Alabama Stakes"
The 2019 senior class for each team are the winningest in their respective program's history. The previous winningest senior class was last year's Alabama class, at 53-5.
Currently, Alabama's 2019 senior class is 55-3, while Clemson's class is 54-4. So, if Clemson wins, the two will tie for best classes in history at 55-4. If this happens, each team will also have 4 CFP appearances and 2 National Championships.
If Alabama wins, then they will hold sole possession of the distinction at 56-3, with 3 National Championships. This Alabama class is also the first to win 13+ games in 4 straight seasons.
Edit/Note: This is only for modern era FBS football. As u/SCsprinter13 pointed out, the 1898 Penn senior class had a record of 55-1, but they were not in the FBS and are not modern.
The stake conference is happening today.
Two General Authority Seventy are coming to make the illusion of growth appear like a spiritual blessing.
I’m out of town or I’d 100% go attend to watch the festivities (although I suspect they’d politely ask me to leave). And I couldn’t rally anyone from our local exmo Facebook Group to attend either (can’t blame them).
So anyone with updates please feel free to share.
Word in the street is that they’ll be announcing the formation of a new stake, the Tuscaloosa Alabama Stake of the church.
...
Fun facts about the Bessemer Alabama Stake...
Lanny Smartt (excommunicated Puerto Rican mission president) was stake president there from 2005-2013 and was followed by Peter Johnson as stake president, who has since become the first African American General Authority Seventy of the church.

I just checked Google to see if anyone else had ever posted about a "Tuscaloosa Alabama Stake".
This post was the only hit on Google.
So let's see how prophetic an apostate can be :)
EDIT 2: 23 Sept 2019 9:51 AM Eastern
From the Birmingham Latter-day Saint's Facebook Page:
At a special stake conference held today, the Bessemer and Birmingham Stakes were reorganized and the Gadsden Stake was created. Elder Vern P. Stanfill, General Authority Seventy, presided, accompanied by Elder Peter M. Johnson, General Authority Seventy.
Elder Peter Johnson mentioned, “the creation of a new stake is evidence of a growing membership and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ from the wonderful saints in the wonderful state of Alabama.”
Birmingham Alabama Stake Pres. Barry Sadler was sustained as the stake president of the Birmingham Alabama Stake with Pres. Doug Watson, and Pres. Robbie Norris as his 1st and 2nd counselors.
The Birmingham Alabama Stake now consists of the Vestavia Hills Ward, Cahaba Branch (Spanish), Alabaster Ward, Columbiana Ward, Hoover Ward, Inverness Ward, Birmingham YSA Branch and Clanton Branch (from the Montgomery Stake).
Bessemer Alabama Stake Pres. Robert Lewis was sustained as the stake president of the Bessemer Alabama Stake with Pres. Benjamin Jensen, and

Race: 9 (5:26 PM EST Post)
Lake Placid
Regal Glory boasts impressive stats, including a 6-4-2-0 career record and back to back Stakes wins in her last two. With rain in the forecast, I’m not worried about her as she can handle any surface condition and this distance hits her squarely between the eyes…..my choice in a very well matched field………………………Blowout also sports impressive credentials in her short career as she is 5-2-3-0. Good looking filly by Dansili ran the best race of her life (92 BSF) on a turf course labeled “good”. Once again, with rain in the forecast, an off turf course could be right up her alley. I hate to sound like a broken record, but yes, trainer Chad Brown could conceivably run 1-2 here…………………………Varenka is a daughter of the wickedly fast Ghostzapper who has clearly improved from 2018 to 2019. She should be ok on an off turf course and clearly has the ability to win this horse race. However, her (come from well behind) running style and drawing the rail doesn’t sit too well with me……………………….Honorable Mentions: Vow to Recover has been on the board in 6 of 8 turf starts and is another who ran the best race of her career on a “good” turf course….could be a menace, especially if the rains come…………………..Feel Glorious is quite the contrary to some others in here in the sense that she appears to need a firm turf course to do her best running…...still another who is capable ……………………….Your long-shot horse in this race is clearly Wildlife, who was visually impressive beating a MSW field, then coming back and wiping the floor with an Allowance field. Filly by Animal Kingdom steps up here and her BSFs are a little short, but based what I’ve visually seen, she could surprise a few people in this race.

Alabama Stakes
Point of Honor has improved through each of her first five races as her BSFs would indicate (76, 83, 87, 90 and 91) and it doesn’t appear she has hit her ceiling just yet. Filly by Curlin was impressive rallying wide on the far turn to win the Black Eyed Susans and then chased, and finished second beaten by only one length, to that juggernaut they call Guarana (who could be any kind) in the Coaching Club American Oaks. Note how she came home the last furlong in a solid :12.1 that day as well. Only draw backs I see is (if the rains come) she’s never touched a wet track and what’s up with the slow w

I only know because I cannot unsubscribe from their automated emails.
Digital terrorists.
Since I won’t be attending in person I just wanted to make sure it was noted somewhere that I’m opposed in the voting.
Opposed to Rusty Nelson as a prophet, seer, and revelator, because he’s obviously just a delusional old man.
Opposed to Dallin Oaks because he’s a bigot.
And opposed to Hal Erying because the poor guy deserves to be able to retire in dignity and spend his final days with family instead of masquerading around to keep up appearances.
I’m also opposed to the entire quorum of the twelve, but especially Misters Bednar, Holland, and Cook.
Bednar because he’s so pompous and his head inflated.
Does he get an extra six figure stipend just to haul around his ego with him?
Opposed to Holland for being an immoral taffy puller of truth.
Double digit growth my ass.
And Cook for screwing those good people in California with that hospital (what an icky icky lawyer he once was).
Also, bonus points for opposing Cook because he was a giant ass to me personally on my mission and perhaps some of the greatest weights ever out on my shelf were when he was called as an apostle.
Soooo, to recap.
I’m opposed.
I just raised my left hand and shouted opposed over my glass of wine that I blessed as my sacrament via the priesthood.
So I’m sure it counts.
Please notate, record, and send that back to Salt Lake City with a bow on it.
The voting was not unanimous.
Sincerely,
Stan Way /FaithfulTBM
