I don't know about you, but a venue that says parking is included with the cost of a ticket, and then has no parking available, man that's a bummer.
And the lines to check vax certs and tickets may have been the longest, slowest yet.

Never ever at a Dead-adjacent show have I been asked to get rid of weed while entering the show. Until tonight! I thought weed was legal in this state, and on the venue website it says “no illegal drugs” so I figured I had nothing to worry about... I mean, even in the southeast I’ve never had anything to worry about. But this dickhead security guy made me throw out the six joints I had coming in (or walk then back to my car… I was at the very front of the line so nope). Still excited for the show but what a bummer coming into it. Be careful everybody! Hope y’all got better luck than I did. Now I gotta grab some more before San Diego…

It's been more than 18 years since Phish was in Phoenix and I wanted to start a thread to welcome you all to "The Valley" and help you around the area. I was just at Ak-Chin Pavilion this past Saturday for The Doobie Brothers (the best $20 ticket I ever bought! They kick ass for being in their 70's) so I was able to learn a couple of things about how they're running events.
Location
Ak-Chin Pavilion 2121 N 83rd Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85035 is not in the best neighborhood. Please be careful walking around pre and post-show.
Great pre and post-show food and drinks are few and far between.
Make plans to go to places like downtown Phoenix (Cityscape is 11 miles away. The area surrounding CityScape has some good spots), Goodyear to the west (9 miles), Old Town Scottsdale (20 miles to the east), Glendale to the north (7 miles), or The Rift wine bar and taphouse in Tempe/ Scottsdale area to the east 20 miles.
There are plenty of great mom-and-pop Mexican restaurants everywhere for those post-show munchies. Filiberto's or any of the other "Bertos" (Humbertos, Rigobertoes, etc) are great to feed the beast.
Travel
Mass transit is not our strength out here. Our light rail goes from Mesa to North Phoenix and that's it.
Please use a DD or rideshare (Lyft and Uber are everywhere). Arizona is on or near the top of the list of DWI/ DUI penalties in the country, so please be safe.
Entry to Ak-Chin
The venue is located west of Phoenix off of Interstate 10. Exit off I-10 at 75th, 83rd ave or the HOV 79th. Go half a mile north of Interstate 10 between 79th and 83rd Avenues to reach the venue.
The lot is pretty huge. We parked a few spots from the 83rd ave entrance and got out post-show within 5 minutes. Parking is included in your ticket price.
There is a health checkpoint where they need to see printed proof of vaccination or negative covid test in the previous 72 hours. I had a photocopy of my vaccination card and it was just fine. I believe they are also offering onsight rapid testing for $50 and you get your results in 30 minutes.
Security was fast, maybe because they knew the Doobies Brother's demographics weren't going to be causing trouble. If you don't have a bag there are fast lanes. They allow clear bags that are 6x12x6 or whatever the standard stadium size is. You can also bring an unsealed bottle of water and blankets. If you are coming early please be sure to use sunscreen. Awesome experience on Thanskgiving at Southern Dunes. Every player got a pumpkin pie to take home after the round. Great experience, and first class staff.
While Phish may have figuratively burnt down that mutha. Slipknot fans did their best to actually burn it down

Has anyone been to the Ak-chin casino (not pavilion) concert venue? I’m trying to get a good idea about their seat size.
I went to a hockey game at the TCC and the seats are so small now!
Heading down for the Monday show, never been to this venue before. How is the view and the sound from the lawn? Tix are going pretty cheap elsewhere in the venue, so if it's not all that great may upgrade. Thanks, can't wait to see y'all Monday!

Happy first night of fall tour! I’m going to be flying out solo to catch the show in Phoenix, staying in Scottsdale and I’m ubering everywhere but as many of you know, catching an Uber post phish show is a pain in the ass. Even if you preschedule it’s no guarantee you’ll get a ride. With this in mind, if you would like a sober driver from the show back to Scottsdale I would be happy to oblige!
