For my 2022 reading challenge I have decided to read 1-3 books from every country in the world. This past year I attempted to do the same but the lack of preparation meant I was bogged down finding and waiting for books. Below is my reading list I have compiled as several people have mentioned they were interest.
Facts
It contains 520ish books with two countries I still need to find something for. 40% are female, 55% are male, and 5% are by various authors. There is a mixture of fiction and non-fiction. It includes everything from memoirs, cookbooks, histories, anthologies, legends, folkstories, poetry, plays, fantasy, romance, chick-lit, and scifi. The bulk is literary fiction.
Methodology
I started with the books I owned that I haven't read or wish to reread. I then looked through my TBR list on goodreads and reassigned those. From there I looked up my favorite authors on https://www.literature-map.com/, and included other authors similar to my favorites. From there I googled each country for their top 1-2 most popular authors. I finished with suggestions from reddit (including the country threads on r/books) and the amazing https://ayearofreadingtheworld.com/thelist/ . Authors with unlisted titles are because I was not able to find a copy of any book by the author at my library or for purchase (<7$) secondhand. These will need to be ILL and I’ll be deciding on the exact title when I apply for the loan.

My father's an American citizen and a second-generation Mexican immigrant, and my mother's Bahamian, making me half-Black and half-Hispanic. I was also born in the Bahamas, but my family and I moved back and forth from there to America once or twice before settling in California.
All of this makes it hard for me to identify myself. I didn't grow up speaking or learning Spanish from my father, which I've always been a little upset about. I also didn't grow up surrounded by too much Bahamian or Mexican culture. I moved out of the Bahamas when I was a little kid, so I didn't really have the ability to absorb too much of that. I've been to some family events in California where Mexican culture was prevalent, but those have been fairly brief and sparse. I also struggle to find people to relate to in regards to my race. I doubt that anyone in real life would care, but being Afro-Caribbean instead of African-American makes me feel somewhat separate from other black Americans. Also, I wonder if I would be fairly accepted in the Bahamas, anyway. It's a black-majority country, but colorists still a thing there.
Overall, I just feel disconnected from any sort of heritage. It's cool to see people proud of where they came from and representing their culture, but most of the time, I don't feel that I have any of that. I'm just me, which I guess is okay.
I apologize for how scattered this post is. This is my first time contributing to this subreddit, so please let me know if anything needs to be changed.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
