TIL that in Manhattan roads are organized so that avenues run north/south and streets run east/west. The only major exception to this rule is Broadway which runs diagonally across the majority of the city.

When did we start thinking of North as "up" and South as "down." Has it always been like that in the West? What about other places?
Everybody I know considers North "up" and South "down."
They'll say things like "I'm going up North" or "I'm going down South."
Australia is considered the land "down under."
Of course from a scientific point of view, there is no objective orientation for up and down.

Yesterday morning, Masteranglodex met up with good friend Henry John Temple for a day of good, fun door-knocking and leafleting in the constituency of Lancashire South. Henry said afterwards that it was great to catch up with buddy Masteranglodex and that he could come to Black Country next General Election time. Masteranglodex said that Henry is a great friend in the party and the real world and that it was great to see him again, he also added that this will have surely changed some minds and that it is hopefully a great step in the right direction for actual conservatism here in Britain.

Does anyone feel slightly frustrated that MRT lines such as North-South and East-West are often extremely crowded, while certain stretches of other lines such as Circle and Downtown are often empty and under-used?
Circle Line has stations at extremely remote areas, and while this is beneficial to the handful of people living in those places, it is not efficient as a whole
Certain stations in North-South and East-West Line are also very far apart from each other, so people living in the middle of those stations have to travel a fair bit of time to get to either MRT station
