I got shit WiFi at my apartment so I need to go to campus to do classes
Are they two separate buildings or the same building? Why the two names?
Basically the title, except it's my daughter, not me. She was doing well until her mental health took a hard hit due to how the pandemic affected her. Uni was unsupportive, capped her grades at 40% and refused extenuating circumstances as she couldn't get medical evidence (didn't have the money GP charges for it). She ended up "discontinued due to uncompleted work" -- which she did complete but they refused to mark. In February she moved out of halls, gave her keys in after asking for early ending of her tenancy, and came back home.
Her tenancy agreement is sketchy, it doesn't look like a proper contract (no landlord name or address). There's a break clause in it that says early termination attracts an admin fee of Β£200, doesn't specify any terms for termination, or grounds why it might be refused.
She was never charged the admin fee, but they accepted the returned keys, now suddenly months later they send her an email demanding the rest of the year's rent on the basis of the reason she left the uni.
This is in England.
So most of us are in this subreddit bc we want to enhance our studying techniques and to get motivated to study alone.
But does anyone else wish we didnt have to study alone?
In my elementary school, there was this concept of βwork timeβ where the teachers would assign us work to do for 2-5 hours and weβd have to work on it silently besides my classmates. And i remember being so productive at that time lol and usually completed my homework as well. I even enjoyed it bc just doing work silently besides my classmate was sorta.. calming? Idk. as a GiFtEd StUdEnT (lol), i loovveed school bc the work time allowed me for me to complete most of my work, and since i was able to completed it fast, i was able to assist the teacher with creating assignments as well.
But as i entered middle school, my teachers would assign us hours of homework after school and there was no concept of βwork timeβ during class. We had to come to school fully prepared. As someone who almost never had to do homework after school, it was quite difficult for me to discipline myself. Also smartphones became more common so iβd spend hours after school doing that instead of self-studyingβ¦
Then in high school, i started dealing with other issues common to teenagers. Waves of depression, anxiety, tiredness, lack of focus related to smartphone use. Iβd have more homework assigned after class but my routine was to go home and cry bc i didnt understand what was happening to me (lol), sleep and then use my smartphone to numb the pain and didnt feel like i had time for studying.
Entered into a competitive college environment, and i rly didnt know how to self-study at all.
i was watching this vid of a chinese high school that went up to 9:30 PM. i dont think class should go that long, but there seemed to be the concept of βstudy hallsβ where students would work on assignments silently besides each other for 2-3 hours to complete homework assignments. And i think thats kind of brilliant..
As someone who never learned to self-study whereas my rich classmates had parents to oversee their studying after class and went to expensive academies, i wouldve loved if there were study halls after school. Like my high school ran from 7:30 AM-2:30 PM. i wouldve rly liked if there was an optional study hall after or before school to complete my homework.I would much prefer going home at 6-7 PM without any homework as opposed to being home by 3:30 with hours of homework in my bag. I think study halls would rly

Prices are shown only according to academic year which is only 9 months right? During the booking period, will I be able to book for a full year (9 month academic year + 3 month summer vacation) ?
Where do we find prices for the full year?
Edit: I'm looking for dorms on North Campus, not apartments
Results from the town hall voting:
29Y, 4N, 5A to endorse having a new Pass/Fail policy
15 for β2 coursesβ, 14 for β3 coursesβ, 8 abstentions for how many courses to allow to be taken P/F per semester.
13Y, 17N, 6A for requiring βFβs to count toward GPA calculations [motion failed]
29Y, 5N, 2A to endorse these policies applying to the Spring 2021 semester as well.
Edit:
They ended the meeting with a quick vote just to poll interest in extending the Withdrawal period until the last day of classes rather than 3 NOV. The results were 18Y, 10N, 3A. They reiterated that this was just to poll interest and was not binding in any way.
They look pretty much next to each other but I have yet to be on campus so I wanna make sure
As we all know, our dear and wise Feridun has made the very difficult decision to cancel all events with >50 people, but has continued vital academic activities which regularly include >80 people. This kind of wisdom only graces the earth once a millenium and, as such, we need to go to his office and each shake his hand to congratulate him on his groundbreaking decision-making. If you're sick, that's even better, as you are the literal embodiment of the Academic Mission and he would be happier to meet you.
I'm thinking at 2-3pm Friday. But we can vote on a better time depending on how it works for everyone's schedule.
I lived in Sewall Hall my freshman year, 1992-93 and loved it.
My Sewall course was something like Legal Rights of Students in the US, and was taught by a professor from the school of law. I am trying to find out his name, but cannot recall it, nor do I have any of my paperwork from that far back.
Does anyone know the name of that professor or how I could find him?
Thank you.
You don't need friends to make A's. Case in point, I have no friends and make A's. "Social life" is a waste of time. All the lonely kids here who complain about trouble making friends are being spoiled brats who think having friends is a necessity, and they should be happy with just making good grades. Socializing is not a necessity, unlike food and water.
Unlike you lesser apes. I have evolved beyond primitive desires for companionship. I am a completely rational, asexual human being an intellectual.
Hey guys, incoming freshman here. I was just wondering whether residence halls are separated by the major that you are in. I heard from friends who are currently at Chapman that Morlan will be pre-med and computer science, is any of that correct?
Looking forward to be apart of the Chapman family!
I have 55 mins to get from my Academic Building East class to Scott Hall class and 55 mins to get from my Academic Building West class to my Scott Hall class
